    Awesome video. I’m also a fan of the gluebot. I actually have two in my shop… labeled correctly of course lol.

      I absolutely love it. One of my favorite tools in the shop, and the cheapest lol.

    I used to work in a shop whare I made one of these mantles pretty well every day. If you make the bracket an inch shorter it give you lots of adjustability when installing it.

    I'm a fan of shop sounds are great when they're quiet + slightly compressed/gated. Extra points if you can avoid outside noise (like jets, loud cars, etc.) - though that can be tough depending on where you're at. Good call on the thin walnut box approach. Much more cost effective + easier to install than a big chunk of 16/4.

      I love mine. Only complaint I have is how loud it is.

    We have the same reaction when those mantels come together 😂

      Thank you!
      I’m hoping to have it all done by the end of the month. That could be slightly optimistic lol.

    I’d love to see a video about your dust extractor system and how you hooked everything up. Thanks

      I plan on making a shop tour in the near future. My dust extractor setup is simple, I'm just using a harbor freight dust collector and some 4" hoses.

      @@SaltyWoodworking awesome, what else do you suggest making that’s not saturated like cutting boards etc. I want to get into woodworking projects to sale online. I don’t have a planer though, just mitre saw, table saw, band saw, router/sanders etc.

    • @SaltyWoodworking
      @SaltyWoodworking  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ItsBarnabyJones cutting boards are impossible to make a profit on now. But I know some people that make American flags out of wood and tend to sell them pretty good. It is a bit saturated, but nothing like cutting boards.

    Nice trick to close the end gaps. I've never seen that before. Also, I have that same table saw (I think). I have problems getting my featherboard fit since my rail is tapered and not square.

    • @SaltyWoodworking
      @SaltyWoodworking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks!
      I forgot what brand my featherboard is. It’s a cheap one from Amazon, but the pieces that go into the rails are plastic, so they fit decently. But you have to put them pretty tight for it to stay in place.

    I started using WEN brand blades for Amzn , there $20 for. 12x80 . When dull ,toss it in recycle bin , mine last a bout 5-6 months .

    Where did you get your walnut boards from

    • @SaltyWoodworking
      @SaltyWoodworking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I got it from a lumber supplier that’s local to me. They are called Riverside Lumber.
      But you could always order online from someone like Woodsource or Rockler.

    Just out of curiosity, as I am newer to woodworking..
    1. Do you need to leave additional room for wood movement?
    2. Could you have maybe gotten away with using less 2x4 material for strength?
    For content purposes, I’d say just dim the sound but keep shop noises as it allows us to use hearing on different machines and understand how each cut on different tools should sound.
    I’d also recommend some close ups of mistakes both before/after fixing, otherwise love the content thus far!

    • @SaltyWoodworking
      @SaltyWoodworking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I appreciate your input!
      The bracket has about a 1/4” gap all the way around, so it should be more than enough room to move if it needs to.
      I’m a bit confused on the second question.

    • @shawnhillis5829
      @shawnhillis5829 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SaltyWoodworking oh the bracket makes sense. The second question was more of me being “cheap” as far as integrity of build when adding blocks to fill the empty space inside. (Wasn’t sure if it was a specific space needed such as framing space 16OC). I just rewatched it and it all made more sense. Thanks
