Hey Chris, I am an Indian with naturally wavy hair. I have dry, brittle and frizzy hair with all the chemicals and coloring doing the damage. I chanced upon your channel while looking for help. I am already feeling the difference with just 1 application of Olaplex 6 !! I have also started using Olaplex 7 oil. Both these products are doing great for my hair. I am looking forward to use other products from your suggested line. But it's very difficult and expensive to get all these products in India . It would be great for all your fans in India, if you could do a review on Hair care products available here. So many of us will be grateful n indebted to you for your guidance. And you must be knowing how many of us are there - The 2nd most populous country :).. lol.
@@LansParry Hi there... I have tried both. I apply a little oil mixed with Leave-in conditioner. And also apply on dry hair ends. And both these have improved the health of my hair. Thanks to Chris
Hi-my hair isn't like that if your typical subscriber.... Will these principals still work for me? Rosemary clove and lavender with massage has grown my hair FAST -Im looking for an extra added boost...
My Indian girlfriend told me she uses coconut oil once a week on her amazing hair. She also told me mustard oil promoted hair growth so I tried both and love it
I really like this (randomly recommended) video. He's not advertising or trying to sell us anything, just sharing tips and stating facts. Crazy how rare that is to see on TH-cam. Thanks for the advice! Keep it up :)
right and he dose give recommendations in his description i bought one of the first ones the leave in conditioner for 32 dollars because i always used like walmart brand and it smelled good but my hair was gross after using it
He’s selling, AND promoting products that aren’t actually that good for your hair. He’s a perfect salesman. 💸💸💸💸💸 Anyone that tells you natural ingredients don’t work, is flat out lying.
@@talulahwest710 Whilst you are probably correct, he is not holding up his own products and recommending we buy them. He has given some great advice and tips on how to care for our hair, and my friend has been for free.
@@Carimars he's pitching throughout the whole video. His Trinity routine when he's telling you about his shampoo and conditioner and then the leave-in conditioner for your mids and the oils for your ends ? Those are all his products!
Sure, I call it the holy 4-ity: Wash Face with gentle cleanser Use Tonic Water Hydration with a non comedon creme ( a fluid or cream that is moisturizing and not clogging pores) Use Sunscreen But most important go to a dermatologist and ask them for what products to use. I suffered from bad acne, and while I got to take medicine for it to go away- My dermatologist said the things I listed and that I don't need more products
How I grew my hair one inch a month was 1. No trims for one year 2. Shampoo only scalp 3. Conditioner only ends 4. Oil the ends. I used blow dryer every other day but used heat protection My hair is down to my butt and very thick
@@LUV.SYLVIA why? If your ends are not split and you know how to care for your hair, why you should trim it. Isnt this the whole point in this video? How to prevent your ends to break.
@@liisa805 I disagree, you should trim, you cant see a lot of the split ends and theyll split up the shaft. You can have long hair sure, but if the last 6 inches look like straggly shit, its pointless to keep. Better to do it slowly and trim.
@@jenniferallen2234 my hair is long and I only managed to grow it because I stopped getting it cut. I have hair dressing scissors and on a sunny day hold the ends up to the light and cut off individual split ends. I could never get it much below shoulder length when going to the hairdressers, even though I always told them I was trying to grow it. It's now waist length. I now only lose length on damaged strands, not all of the healthy ends too.
Thank you for validating not getting regular trims! I go and get a trim roughly twice a year, and every hairdresser I've told "it's been 6 months since my last trim" is always shocked and throw shade at me for it! I was getting regular trims for about a year, every 2 months, and my hair was getting shorter each time, so I stopped it
They give me shit when I tell them I use henna. They always ghasp. Like why? It keeps my hair healthy and looks good. I want nothing from the hair dresser's table. Piles of expensive crap that ruins your hair, and you will see that fact when you abruptly stop using their products.
1. Don’t cut your hair, only trim a bit once a year. 2. Take care of your scalp. Wash at least twice a week. 3. Don’t dye your hair. 4. Don’t use too much heat on it. 5. Be patient.
My hair is about an inch past my hips. I only wash my hair maybe, 1 a month, say every couple weeks.. my roots are great, mids ok, ends could use some work..I'm going to try the hair oil definitely
I got the littlextra reactiivatte hair growth serum for my mom, since she had hair thinning. She noticed a notable decrease in hair fall and is excited to see new hairs growing back.
Please can u tell me when I should use the leave in conditioner, I mean after wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner , and should my hair be dry or wet when i use the leave in conditioner. 🤍🤍
What if your ends are bleached and damaged and haven’t been able to retain any moisture? I have a salon appointment coming up and I was just thinking of cutting the dead hair off to start fresh?
So true, it is annoying when you clearly do not even need it and you say it out loud.. and They Still, always want to do it, what a shame. They think that it is the only way to operate, because they are so trained to do that. Do like I do, show these kind of videos to them, this for example ( I showed GlamGirlGabi`s vid and did not have to debate about it anymore), Thank God it helps and they get new subs! Even this and many other very successful hairdressers says that some of them still always want to do it,trim it, shorten it too much, so keep firm with them. It is quite nasty that you ,as a paying customer, have to "stay firm". You should only have to say it once, if at all. If they ask. Many of them are very limited in a way that they think that things that`s been taught to them once are the only right way to do it. And those teachings of theirs have seen their time. They are Old. I mean.Teachers are old, so their style of doing things can be old also, and then they teach it to new students, and the cycle continues and so on.. in general.
@@Kayla0 Well then this topic is not for you. you are talking about a whole different thing girl! Did you even watch the video? It was about when you do NOT want your hair to be cut. You want it, so you have no problem with this. They are more than willing to cut it. I promise you :)
1) hair is breaking from the middle and turning to dust from bottom 2) leave in conditioner to preserve moisture 3) hair oils for ends 4) eat right, exercise to better metabolism
Saw a snippet of you on tiktok. I had a hairdresser tell me that genetically my hair would never get past my shoulders. She had me keep coming back every six weeks for trims. I followed your advice and it’s almost to the bottom of my shoulder blades!! Super impressed
I think the whole trimming idea is more for making hair (seem?) thicker. What to do about falling hair? I have a theory that mine gets to a certain length, then the weight of it makes it fall out. It may be a paranoid theory 😂 Hopefully 😂
As a former stylist, I can confirm, getting regular trims is only necessary if you want to maintain the shape of a specific style (or get rid of damaged ends) not when you want to grow your hair out!
@ShawlTales - This is exactly what my stylist has been doing with my hair and it is working well. I lost a good amount of my hair due to an illness that triggered telogen effluvium about a year ago. I had long healthy hair and lost so much of it we had to shorten it to about my just above my shoulders and add some longer layers for volume. I went long periods of time between cuts as it grew out and only trimmed for shape or damage removal.
I appreciate the advice on not trimming the ends too often. I had long hair and hairdresser cut it all off because it was "damaged" and they made me believe that I needed the trims and that my hair is naturally damaged, cause I wasn't ever using heat or color or anything else to damage it. Crazy
Thank you SO MUCH for telling the truth about NOT trimming! I am so annoyed of ppl telling me I should get the hair trimmed when I try to grow it out. I try to explain to them that hair grows out in the roots, NOT in the end. What you do to your ENDS does NOT affect the roots.
If you cut the hair shorter then the split ends will just be further up the hair and then split upwards from there. You may just as well use the bad hair to break before drying out and splitting the newer part of the hair.
@@ShannonFinch49 The trims themselves creates the opening that causes your hair to split. It is literally impossible to not have split ends, because trims can cause split ends to develop higher up in the hair the same way not getting the trims does. What you can do though is trim your hair every now and then to reduce the length of the split end, thus shrinking the frayed end and making it harder for end to travel higher. This only really needs to be done when you start noticing the split ends though, and not every 2 months.
During quarantine and those 2 awful years of covid, I kept my hair in braids every day, not joking. They were in every hour of every day until I took them out once a week to wash my hair, not knowing that braids were one of the most protective hairstyles you could do. This allowed for my ends, my mids, and even my new roots to grow without any heat and little breakage. In a year, my hair went from just past my shoulders to my waist. But, this was keeping my hair up every single day for 2 full years. If you are up for it and want to leave braids in for that long, I would recommend this entirely. Even an entire summer or a few months might help at least a little. **I'm not a professional or even a new student, I am just speaking from experience. I don't know if this will work on your hair as well, or be convenient but I thought I might share.**
Yep. I did the same during my telogen effluvium recovery. My hair grew the fastest when I kept it braided constantly. It was at my collar bones at the beginning of June and at the end of July it was at my bra line. I should do it again because it really helped maintain the health of my hair while also encouraging growth.
Yes! My friend did the same thing during the pandemic. Two braids with the ends pinned up on most days, hair only out for special occasions. Her hair is waist length now and absolutely gorgeous!
Love that you mentioned diet and exercise. I know someone who literally didn’t eat enough and her hair just fell out as her calories were so low. It’s like her body shut down biological processes because there was not enough energy to support them. Not worth it! Health always first. ❤
And sometimes if you look at someone who is very thin and their hair is falling out you shouldn’t assume it’s on purpose. There are health related reasons why peoples hair falls out. Don’t stare and don’t make assumptions.
If you want your body to built anything, you are going to need the materials! He is so right about building blocks. No matter if it is muscle, height (as kid), hair or nails.
This is true, at one point I was skipping lunch daily and I have really light breakfasts, by 2pm everday I feel dizzy and can't balance myself right. Now that I started eating more and consistently, my hair grew alot faster that I had to get a trim but after 2 weeks
Since the start of pandemic during lockdown period was the perfect time to grow out your hair. After 2 whole years of not going to get a haircut/trim, my hair was down to my hips and now past my tailbone. Plus leave in treatments and oils were and still are my regimen as well to maintaining long hair. Yes, Chris is absolutely right about that 100%
is this the first time in your life it has grown that long? some people like my mom grows super long hair so quickly and she doesn't do a single thing to it.
My hair didn’t grow for 10 years and I had extensions. It turned out I was so mal nourished and once I started with a nutritionist and started eating oats, nuts, salmon etc it began to grow. Thank you for these videos. ❤
Wow a hairdresser who admits that you don't need frequent trims! I love it, new subscriber from me! Six weekly trims are for aesthetics only and a lot of people have bought into the lie.
Your Trinity routine has been a game-changer for me! In just 4 months, I've noticed significant hair growth and overall health. My hair also feels strong and shiny, and I can skip my daily washes - it stays healthy and not greasy for 3-4 days now. It's incredible how much I've learned and improved my hair care thanks to you. I'm sure countless others like me are grateful for the knowledge and inspiration you share through your videos! xxx
I have curly hair and have been using BUNCH of products over time to finally realize what is best, and the final best routine that I stuck to is exactly: conditioner, leave-in conditioner, oil! Guaranteed to work amazing!
When I actually listened to this guy, my hair got SOOOO much healthier AND my routine got simpler. Straight to the point, yet educational. I love it. Thank you blowout professor!!!
I also wanna add that sleeping with a satin cap is a huuuuuuuge life saver. I used to wake up with super frizzy and dry hair and probably it would contribute to breakage since that when hair is most likely to get damaged so now I can continue to grow my hair in peace.
I have never trusted another hair stylist since someone chopped off my black beautiful locks after saying that I had split ends: just discovered your channel and now I have hope in growing my hair back. Thanks for your honesty!!!
I went right to your list and I checked out the leave-in conditioner and literally in the recommended for you section was all the other products on your list! Clearly people are following your advice! I’m very excited to start my hair journey!
As a stylist of 20 years this is EXACTLY what I recommend to my long haired clients. And what I follow myself. I didn't call it the trinity hair routine but it's literally word for word what I say 🤣 and I also don't recommend frequent trims. Just keeping an eye on the ends and when they feel dry and crunchy coming in for a dusting.
I made a rosemary water face toner, and it involved boil fresh rosemary . My eyebrows were super thick from it, and rosemary water really works. I just haven't made it since then. I made it for skin care, but it really makes your hair grow.
I started paying attention to my hair after I retired because I didn’t have to try and make it look good everyday anymore. I learned about everything he said from the natural products to leave in conditioners. And I figured out that trimming my hair even every six months was not long enough between trimmings if I wanted to reach my goal length. But I never saw anyone take all that information and put it together like that. He explained which things were the priority and which were not and for me that really helps
where on earth have you been my whole life?? I SO wish I had seen your channel YEARS ago!! You're so honest, authentic, helpful, knowledgeable and a REAL expert!!
My Mom used to say the simplest answer is usually the best most honest answer... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS WITH US!! I know these videos aren't as easily made as some would think, so I really appreciate you doing this video. I'm now a subscriber & you're now my hair guru!😂😂 I'm at that age (56) where I'm trying to decide to let it grow in with my natural which is gray in the front & sides OR never give in & keep being a slave to the dye, all while Im looking to grow it long again. Any suggestions about that process? I'll have to binge watch your videos tomorrow. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! God bless 💞 ✂️ 💞
My hair grew from a shoulder length Bob down to my butt really quick - no trims, but also daily vit d, k2, zinc, vit c. Menopause had hit too. I quit dying the roots so much and used root spray, also stopped daily washing/drying/straightening and tied back instead letting it dry naturally and it’s the longest it’s ever been in 50 years! The ends are starting to get dry so will invest in some oil!
I am also close to 50 and I started from shoulder bob to my waist and butt 3 1/2 years ago. I just wash, conditioner and live in conditioner and I touch up my roots in black. I was Cooper red like one year ago and I bleached my hair 3 times in one year wich I regret but I still menage to grow my hair to my butt. I did cutt by myself little few times like one inch.
Thank you for being clear, concise & truthful about hair growth. It's refreshing! I've been studying the long hair of Victorians and they understood this. They also wore their hair in 'protective' hair styles to avoid damage, dirt and breakage.
I’ve been following these steps for a couple months along with only washing once a week, using only a hair mask when I condition. And on hair wash days I oil the top and use rosemary water/scalp massager, and coconut oil for the ends. I’ve actually seen a good amount of growth and it looks sooooo much fuller! I’m definitely going to keep up with it so I can grow my hair super long.
I brought the prouducts on the list not that long ago and I’m already seeing that I have less split ends and breakages, way less. I had a really bad issue with it for years, my hair never went pass my chest. I’m looking forward to seeing (fingers crossed) growing passed that point. I’ll pop back in again at some point with how I’ve gotten along. Thanks for sharing all this information with us Live Love Locks x
So happy to have found you! I am newly retired and decided to let my hair grow. My hair was always my super power but at this age it’s a bit dry and doesn’t curl like it used to. I want to bring back the curls and glossiness. I am learning so much from your channel and believe me I’ve been looking at all those crazy trends too. So thank you for steering us straight and cutting out the BS. ❤
Try a few drops of camellia oil on damp hair after washing and conditioning. I used to spend a fortune on frizz serums. After a day it would be as dry as ever. Tsubaki oil I use.
Hi! Great advice! I stopped trimming my hair every month awhile back but it would still take a long time to grow out. Since I’ve been following your advice, my hair is past my waistline. Thank you lots!🙂
I found this channel a little bit ago, and I decided to go on a... 'hair journey' if you will. I love the way you structure your videos, JUST TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT! No bologna, just facts and instructions STRAIGHT INTO MY EYES! I'm in my 30s, and this might sound ignorant, but I honestly didn't realize hair lost moisture like skin does. Last year, I noticed my hair was thinner than usual, and becoming a bit fine. I started taking iron (on doctor's orders, I was iron deficient) as well as biotin, vitamins, protein, and collagen. But I wasn't considering how I need to treat my hair better on the outside, not just from the inside. There's thousands upon thousands of hair care videos on youtube, but I come to this channel for answers, and instructions. Thank you so much for all of your videos!
I LOVE IT HERE!!!! (Newbie) don’t know how I found you but I’m glad I did! Hair referenced to bamboo was the PERFECT explanation! I’m a visual learner so thank you for being so descriptive! 🥳🥳🥳
You dropped the mic on this informative message. 🎤 Stylist have cut my healthy ends off so many times when it absolutely did not need it. There’s no telling how long my hair could be right now had I not allowed them to cut it. Thank you so much for your hair growth expertise it makes a lot of sense. Much appreciated & needed to hear 💯❤️
I can't thank you enough! After wondering why my hair wasn't growing longer I changed my hair routine to your recommendations. My frizzy hair is beautiful and wavy now plus I don't have to wash as often as before. I finally begin to love my hair again. Got a trim due to very thin ends but now I hope I can grow it out more healthy
So awesome to hear this! Great to hear your washing less often as well. Makes life way easier :) I have a feeling it will be MUCH healthier when it grows out 👍
@@bhartisuvarna6059 Shampoo and conditioner: Redken Volume line (the pink bottles). Leave in: Curlsmith weighless airdry cream, I scrunch it into really wet hair. Gel: Curlsmith hydro style flexi jelly. Then blowdry with diffuser. When my hair is dry I scrunch the hair with the Olaplex No 7 Oil
Wow this makes sense. My hair is long. Like down to my butt long. My hair routine is straight forward, basically everything Chris says to do in his ‘Mistakes that are ruining your hair’ video. I seem to have got lucky and just figured out what works for my hair fairly early. I also go almost a year (longest 1yr 6month-ish) before I cut my hair. The whole metabolism thing is kind of true as far as myself goes. Relatively healthy diet/somewhat active, probs helps. And yeah my hair does grow at a quicker pace, friends and colleagues always comment. My one slip is not oiling my hair ends enough. Sorry hair.
I’ve started making my own rosemary water, I put it in my hair every other day after a bath. It’s gotten a lot thicker and longer in such a short period of time! It works!
FINALLY! You’re the only professional I’ve ever heard admit that getting trims often does not lend to growing length. THANK YOU!!! It’s been my secret for years for how my hair stays long, that growth comes from treating your hair right and NOT trimming all the new length you just grew! Our hair grows about a 1 centimeter a month, if you’re removing an inch or two every couple of months, you’re literally taking off all the hair that you grew in that time since your last cut! It defeats the whole purpose. But more importantly, it’s how you treat your hair that makes all the difference in retaining your length. Olaplex has been a lifesaver as I’ve aged, aging hair thins and thus is more prone to damage. And I can’t say enough about how beneficial staying hydrated is, inside your body and outside on your hair. Using the right products and leaving your hair alone as much as possible will help protect the integrity of your hair.
@Annie Mouse Same difference my love. An inch is only 2.5 centimeters. You’re literally splitting hairs. Besides hair growth also depends heavily on health and an individual’s biology. You could grow more than the average or less.
Yeah, this really works. I've been using the reactivate hair serum by liittllexttra, and it's effective. My hair has started to grow, especially in areas where I've had long-standing issues. Along with aloe and amla, the serum is the new addition to my hair routine that has finally shown results after years of experimenting with different oils. Additionally, at the end of the week, instead of throwing away the tea leaves, I use them as a hair rinse during my weekly wash routine.
Recently, I heard many positive things about reactiivvate serum for hair growth, so I began using it 1 month ago. I am pleased to say that it has been helping me with new hair growth
Omg yes! This video is amazing. I’ve been growing my hair out for years and I’m happy to say it’s really long at this point. But my gosh the times I’ve had to hold firm that I did not want or need a trim! I still cannot understand how literally every hair dresser I’ve ever encountered promises ‘hair growth’ by trimming regularly. Thank you so much for this video! You’ve restored my faith I’m my hair believes. I will definitely try the leave in conditioner. Only thing missing from my hair routine right now.
Hi my mids are constantly splitting, despite stopping bleach and going for high lift tint. I’m having to dust it all the time as the splits stick out and make it look terrible 😢 what should I do? I use leave in conditioner and olaplex 1 & 2 and hair oil…all the time and it’s not getting g any better!?? Help 😢
I want to share my tips. If I could post a B/A I would. My hairdresser is stunned how much my hair has grown in 2 years! Things that helped me: -ditched the flatiron and minimal curling iron -less washing -Nizoral for flaky scalp. -intermittent fasting. -hair oils, sometimes before I wash -clarifying shampoo once or twice monthly -hair vitamins as well as cod liver and Vit D -better installation of hair extensions -not combing my hair in the shower -finding a hairdresser who doesn’t keep highlighting the same section -hairdresser also uses olaplex as a treatment during processing -Dyson Air Wrap I’m 43 and my hair is better than when I was a teenager. Everyone has their own tips, but this is my list. I want to underscore the importance of nutrition. We really are what we eat.
@@vidhubhatnagar2722 amazing how just a few changes makes all that difference! Glad you found a good routine that works. Less washing definitely helps. Took me a long time to get my hair to the point where I could go 3 days without a wash. I couldn’t do that before.
Totally agree on what you eat, it takes time to flush all that stuff out of your body. I finally am starting to feel better that I started to see a nutritionist
Finally a man that knows his stuff!!! You are so informative I love it!! You are saying exactly what the average person has been thinking all along!!! You are awesome chris and keep up your amazing work!!! I only wish i had found your channel sooner but good timing anyway because im getting my hair done tomorrow and now i know what to do, thanks.
I've only been following you for a few months, but the change in my hair in that time is amazing. Following your routine of: shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, blow out cream and hair oil has completely changed my hair. My hair is the longest it has ever been in my life. It's already long, but by spring it should be down to my waist. I have never retained my ends this long. Thanks to you, I don't fight with my hair anymore. I constantly get comments about how healthy, shiny and full my hair looks. *And I lost A LOT of hair after I had covid last year. Thank you so much for teaching me how to help my hair. I recommend your channel to everyone:)
What’s your routine for hair oils? I ordered argan oil but I’m still a little confused on if it’s only applied while hair is dry, if it’s for every day use, etc
I have really thin, fine hair so I have to be careful with oils. I’ve seen him recommend the Moroccanoil (it’s an argon formula) which I’ve been using and loving. I apply it how he recommends here to the ends whether I’ve washed that day or not if it’s wet so they don’t dry out. Just a pea to dime size amount (depending on your hair type/length of course) so the bottle lasts a while for me, rub between the palms a little and “squish” into my damp ends really well to make sure it really coats the ends. Use a wide tooth or wet brush to get it all thru the strands and the ends dry so nice and smooth as opposed to stringy and frizzy haha. In the morning I like to use a pea size amount again rubbed between my palms to tame whatever happened while I was sleeping. Along with a silk pillow case, it’s REALLY helped. Hair is looking noticeably full and more manageable for me. Just takes consistency. I can see why he says you don’t need to trim your ends as often as we’re told. They stay looking healthy this way! Mine usually grow out stringy and see thru lol my hair texture has completely changed in a short amount of time.
My stylist cut wayyy too much off my hair. I'm happy to hear my already existing routine and exact products I already use are key to growing it back out! 😊
You are so right about the simplicity of this regimen. I simplified my regimen (getting rid of these trend products) and my hair has never felt better, thicker, and less tangled!
Hello Chris! I wanted to let you know you saved my hair! Last year I stopped highlighting my hair due to damage and losing the length of my hair. I had been going to the same stylist for over 6 years. I told her I didn't want to do all over highlights anymore and wanted to go back to my natural color. She colored it as close to my natural color so I could start repairing my hair. Needless to say, last May I changed stylist because my last one said it was my fault my hair was damaged and breaking off. I have taken your advise and bought the shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, hair oil and the blow out gel. My hair has not been this heathy and growing longer in years! I can't thank you enough!
I have type 1A hair and I've watched an uncountable amount of videos and this has to be the best video I've seen. I go through this exact mental and physical hair process I thank you immensely! Not to mention my hair growth was very long for a minute then stopped. I equated it to stress and you know the one product I stopped using!!!! Leave in conditioner! Omg you are my hero
My hair was bleached and ends !!! I got box braids put in and when i took them out .i was honestly surprised how great condition it was it ...brilliant and it had grown too
@user-ft2kl5jb7y my profile picture was from a few years ago I was in another country on vacation. It was bleached and I made it wavy by using product and sleeping with braids in my hair. My hair does not hold curls, so I used to braid it with moose in it. So I'm sure my profile pic is not what my hair looks and feels like everyday. Respectfully
I have been following your advice and I am seeing a definite improvement. A year ago, I went for a trim and the stylist turned the chair around and thinned my hair out so much that I found pieces an inch from my scalp and my hair was past my bra strap line in the back. I told her I wanted one inch cut off and told her I wanted a blunt cut, no point cutting or anything else. I was very specific. It boggles my mind why some stylists do this. I am actually afraid to get a trim and have been watching your videos and giving myself olaplex treatments.I appreciate your advice.
I’ve had exactly that happen to me 4 and a half years ago. The woman sliced it from the top of my head, and even stripped out the most essential part of my hair at the side , which keeps my fine curly hair in check because of the weight it use to have, so I can style it properly. I explained to her very well how important that side of my hair is and it needed a blunt cut. What she did was devious. I was 51 at the time, and my hair was in really good condition. I still have photographs from a week before. It never recovered from that Boucher. I will always regret the day I walked into that Salon just for a blunt trim. I am sorry you went through the same experience as I did. That’s a big blow you’ve been through there. I hope you’re younger than I am because, eventually it will recover. 🥺😤🤬😉😘
@@nowwhat33 I think maybe we've all had an experience like that at some point in time. Several years ago, I had long, semi-thick, healthy hair and wanted some slight layers cut into it. Well, the stylist razored it with a comb type of tool. Basically, slicing long chunks out of it which made it thin to say the least. It was a horrible experience and took years to get my hair back to a thicker, healthy state. I no longer visit salons. My aunt is an excellent stylist and she is the only one I trust to trim my ends when needed. Helpful tip: Never make small talk or have conversation with someone who has scissors near your hair. 😉
@@AnnE-mn8ny Yes that’s how I received it. I felt deeply violated. My fine curly hair still hasn’t recovered from it. It will be 5 years ago next May. Horrible!
I actually grow my hair fast without using products, I do massaging of scalp, exercise for circulation, healthy diet, retaining my scalp natural oils and then brushing my hair to spread the oil. I also trim my hair twice a year on my own.
He is right I work in the beauty supply store and everyone try’s all the trends for hair growth and yet when I see the same people 2 years later they are still have no hair growth it’s crazy I see it everyday
Something simple that helped my hair, and it definitely was breaking off at the ends, was put it up gently into a loose ponytail which I plaited at night. Seemed protect it a bit from rubbing on the pillow. Also eating the best quality eggs I could afford made a difference.
Love all the advice. Thank you! I do use homemade rosemary water on my hair as a rinse and it's been great! My hair is thicker and there is new growth where it was thinning.
Wow! Thank you for this video. I’ve been a stylist for close to 20years. I never push the “baby trim so hair will grow” thing. What you said is exactly right!- but I am amazed at how many clients are brainwashed into thinking they need a trim every 5weeks. Like, it’s unbelievable. Sometimes it’s almost like they think I’m being lazy as their stylist when I encourage them to skip out on any cutting. Anyhow, I’ve learned so much in your video here. THANK YOU
I am one of those brainwashed ppl ...I've had real bad damage done to my hair over year ago. Changed hair salon and she has practically given me a haircut every 4/5 weeks in this last Yr 🙃 so basically cutting my damage ends off as quickly as possible so I was told ..a Yr on my hair I still shit not in good condition & exactly the same length!!!!!!!!
This is pretty much what I’ve done all my life and my hair is hip length most of the time. Only get 6-8” cut off once a year if I feel like going “shorter” for a while. In addition to these things, I also mostly avoid using heat and chemical treatments of any kind. Great tips, and in my experience they do really work! Gotta be patient though.
@@sofac8252 I usually only trim it if I notice a lot of split ends or it’s getting tangled too much. For some reason many hair professionals like to cut way more off than I ask for so I don’t really like going to salons. The last time I went I asked for 2” off the ends and she cut about 8”.
@@GeoRockNerd my hair hasn’t become really long and i don’t know if the last time the hairdresser cut more than i asked i don’t usually statighten them
@@sofac8252 They seem to love to cut more than asked, I wouldn’t be surprised if you had that happen too. Maybe don’t got for a cut for a year and see what happens?
Great and honest vid! A couple of things to add in my opinion: - it depends on your genetics as well (people with thick hair will get split ends slower etc ) -color and heat damage will affect your length just because they affect the health of the hair and will cause split ends -washing your hair everyday and shampooing the ends will also cause damage in my experience. Oiling your hair well before showering will help with not getting the water to cause damage.
My hairstylist explained all this to me some of what you mentioned. So happy that She’s legit! I’m due for my yearly haircut since I get a cut once a year and my hair is so long and grows fast too. Thank you Chris!
I feel like it’s illegal for me to watch this vid because of all of the free professional helpful informations 😂, truly my hair has changed dramatically the moment I started to understand what my hair needs and how to tackle every issue from the roots , thank you very much 🌸
I have to say that this is my favorite video about growing hair long! For years my hair wouldn't grow past my shoulders, and I waa frustrated because I loved my long hair. I have had many bad experiences with hairstylists in the past, so the salon is not a place I enjoy. I have VERY fine but curly hair, and unlike straight fine hair, mine is dry! So I had many bad experiences with hairstylists that didn't know what to do with my hair, they would straighten it to cut it, despite me telling them that I have different curl textures and cannot be cut straightened, they would pressure me into trimming my ends, and always cut way too much against my wishes, and would even get upset if I said no to trims. Then when I went to a curly hair salon, they tried to cut my hair in the same way they would cut thick and dense curls -.- I just stopped going, and until last year, I hadn't cut or trimmed my hair in 5 full years. And guess what? My hair was reaching my bra line! And my ends didn't look horrific as I was expecting, some split ends here and there, but nothing different than when I was trimming often. Last year I got the courage to trim my own hair, and now I just do some quick dustings of a few strands if the seemed knotted or split, and I even gave myself some layers this year! I love these tips, and only will add Olaplex no.3 because I bleach and dye my own hair and do need the help for that damage
I have watched tons and tons of hair videos, dozens and dozens of people talking about hair care etc etc, But, Seriously: I have never EVER seen anyone talk so honestly, with such expertise and MUCH needed simplicity, giving THE best tips I have heard in all my life hair-wise. Much respect to you, sir. You are a gem!
I don’t relate to anything this man says in the video but I find him extremely helpful, he doesn’t seem like he’s onto some kind of shit and actually explains things very well, thank you so much for the honesty. I don’t relate to this because I’m a guy, I don’t struggle with hair growth, and I don’t have old ends because my hair is pretty short and new already. I’ve been wanting to grow my hair out to a shoulder length for a while now and summer break is the perfect time for that, I’m just looking for the fastest way to do it because I hate the in between part where my hair is too long to be called short and too short to be called long, I hate it because I look very silly with it and it just makes me uncomfortable, but this was very helpful, thank you!
Hey, Chris. I have wavy hair and I hated it bc it was hard to manage. I watched this video a month ago and tried the trinity routine. I gotta say it worked well for me. The leave-in conditioner and oil really made the difference. I love my hair now and it has gotten much longer. It saved my hair from a lot of damage. Thank you for sharing your expertise on this platform and for not conforming to the bandwagon. I will recommend this video to my friends!!
@@Secorad I bought the oil and leave-on conditioner (Cantu) that are available here in my country and chose the ones that fit my hair. Use the oil only at the ends
Thank you Chris for your advice of not needing a trim. I always felt this was not necessary. I follow your advice with leave on conditioner and hair oil masks and getting a dramatic difference in my hair. Also remind people about hard water. Getting a water filter on my shower head was a game changer for me.
Wow! I have just discovered your channel and it is so refreshing to hear a hairdresser explaining things so well, putting himself in the place of the customer! How many times have I been told ( by hairdressers! ) that I must NEVER use conditioner AND leave in conditioner. So many “ If you want to grow your hair you must come in for a trim once a month “ and the mind boggling “ your hair type ( thin ) is not made to grow past your shoulders “ 🤣 And this has been from professionals of different salons and different countries. Honestly I had given up, but you just gave me a huge boost, so thank you ever so much ☺️🤗 subscribed and I plan to binge through your videos 😃 Thank you 🙏 🍪☕️🥛xxx
I wanted to add that if the hairdresser ever asks you if you want your hair thinned down, refuse. It's been 2 years, and I still regret it. My mom thinks I lost hair due to aging or something. I just left my 20s.
Unfortunately, I got my hair layered and yeah…it LOOKS like more volume but actually my hair is thinner!! Ughh. Oh well, now I’m trying to grow out all the layers!
More excellent advice. Yes, I tell people all the time, frequent trims sabotage hair growth. Thank you for more helpful information. The advice about leave-in conditioner really helps me.
I've had the same hair length since grade 8 and I stopped wondering why because I accepted that "hair has a natural length" 😭 Can't wait to try out your Tipps and tricks! Thanks a lot 😍 love your videos
The key to less breakage, and healthy looking hair is moisturizers. I have fine, curly hair, which tends to breakage, and being frizzy. Leave in conditioners work very well for this. You need to try different types to see, which one you like the most. There are many leave in conditioners, for different hair types, e.g. curly, wavy, straight, fine, thick. Hope that helps. I forgot to mention, that since my hair is fine, conditioners with a large amount of oil does weight my hair down. It doesn't curl and looks even thinner and limp.
Chris, I've been following your videos for 3 weeks now and WOW my hair is the best it's ever been! It's also growing seemingly faster (or maybe just healthier and it looks longer?). I'm so excited. I've been following "the trinity" as you call it, have done Olaplex 3 once a week, and have also followed your advice to not wash my hair often (I'm doing 2x a week) and wait 3 days before I apply heat again. Life changing! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Keep up with the great advice on TH-cam!!
Thank you for keeping it real! Really love your Chanel. I grew my bleached hair all the way to my waist once. I didn’t trim it more than once a year until I got the length I wanted (despite what every stylist suggested over and over) deep conditioning, leave in conditioners and always keeping my ends moisturized! So thank you for finally confirming I wasn’t crazy or just got lucky haha
my hair is bleached and I only get a trim every 8 wks use deep conditioners oil in the ends and very rarely use heat but the sides just break of between ear and cheek length I would love long hair all one length been trying to grow it out for yrs. my hairdressers keeps trying to convince me to stop using bleach but I love blonde hair. I only ever have the roots bleached so what it breaks of I don't know. so annoying
@@thepondisgreen The only time I didn't suffer with damage from highlighting bleach was when I was going to a hairdresser that put Olaplex in the bleach. I don't know if he used #1, #2, or both, but that stuff is amazing! Olaplex #3 treatment is the one for home use... you could use that weekly or even twice a week to help repair the damage. It's not as strong as #1 & #2, but only hairdressers can buy those... they can be done as a stand alone treatment as well, not just added to the bleach. Once I get my hair in better condition, I'm going to try just doing balage on the outer layers once or twice a year as recommended by another youtuber I watch. Way less damaging, but still gives hair dimension. Good luck!
@@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane How about some roots shadow to save some time between bleaches ? And it will depends if your hair is dry but a leave in could also be a good idea. Also if your hair breaks at the same spot, it could be due to an hair style, like a pony tail, or an habit you took, like a seat bealt, shoulder bags. Brittney Gray have a video on her channel on this. I don't recall the title ! 😮💨 Also, you could gently massage your scalp to stimulate growth on this area. The best would be to use product, and to massage it before taking a shower. All hair have a breaking point. But why not challenging it ? I've notice some part of our hair will be more prone to breakage, those parts will need more tlc. Good luck to you !!!
Gosh, thank goodness for you. I have dry curly hair which I've been dying blonde for years. I saw the roots growing out quickly but my hair remained the same length. Finally a few days ago I chopped off a lot of hair and am ready to start over. I found you just in time. Thank you.♥️
I cant explain how grateful I am for this video, thank you so much for making this video. Recently, a hairstylist cut too much of my hair even though that’s not what I asked for a my hair was down to lower back and I’ve been so happy with that length as it took me so long to grow it but now that it’s so short I’ve been so desperate to find any helpful products and information as I’ve been so insecure of my hair but non of them seemed convincing enough. This video was the most helpful of them all and you explained it so well. Now I know what mistakes I’ve been doing and I’m looking forward to try this out!
Rad! I really appreciate this video because you're the only professional hairstylist I've heard who says you don't need to trim your hair often 😊 just when you have to.
I just found your channel yesterday and love it already, would love it if you would dedicate a video to keeping silver hair healthy to grow it long. I decided to stop coloring my hair after going through breast cancer, it’s now a little above shoulder length and I’m trying to grow it to upper back length. The tips you gave in this video are very helpful however I’m still trying to choose ideal products for my new silver hair after having dark brunette color for a million years 😆 thank you for the info!
Genetics plays a massive role when it comes to hair health - if not the main factor. I’m from a south Asian background most of us have long and thick hair without the use of professional shampoos. I think the tips are great but I don’t think they alone can grow someone’s hair.
I used to have straight, shiny black hair when I was a kid, but when I was 11 years old, I used some kid shampoo stuff that I am sure had every harmful chemical for hair. I hated my hair. Hide it in caps and never show it. It was damaged. I felt shame about it. I followed some steps about hair on the internet, which made it frizzy, with no pattern, and hideous to look at. I hid it for nine years, almost all of my teenage. No gen helped. I didn't know my hair type because I couldn't define it. Some of them were straight, whereas the others were wavy or curly. I assumed I had straight hair because I used to have it when I was a kid. I cried a lot, and it was painful to look in the mirror. As a teenager, the internet was my only guide. I followed some girl's steps about improving my hair, such as putting castor oil; back then, I didn't know I had low porosity and had a lot of other bad experiences. That was in the past I want to clarify that Genes are a catalyst, not an essential factor. My hair is now gorgeous; people now ask to touch it. I love myself more than I used to. My guide now is TikTok content “not anyone; I learned my lesson.” My gene was extraordinary shiny black straight hair... Well, guess what? My gene now is wavy (2b) dark brown with a great pattern of wavy hair. Nothing stays the same. All you need is good habits. Again, Genes are a catalyst, not an essential factor. Don't lose hope.
Well it's not just shampoos. It's shampoos, conditioners (or masks), leave in, oil, ends maintenance, diet and water, minimal manipulation, minimal heat usage and consistency. For those who are not blessed with hair genetics, employing the aforementioned things routinely, will really help on your hair journey. My hair was thin neck length and now it is thick mid back length and next year it will be to my waist but that is only because I worked consistently to get there.

I have also started using Olaplex 7 oil.
Both these products are doing great for my hair. I am looking forward to use other products from your suggested line. But it's very difficult and expensive to get all these products in India .

Every 6 weeks? And hair only grows 1-1,5 cm a month
You poor thing! I’m sorry your hair stylist had you doing that🤮
Honestly, though, it really IS genetics. You just allowed your hair to do its thing, that's all.
❤ from Canada thanks

When I was a hair stylist I would to my clients the same thing about cutting their ends. Love your channel.
Thank you. I never knew this.❤
I appreciate the advice on not trimming the ends too often.

What you do to your ENDS does NOT affect the roots.
split ends only travel one way...and thats UP the hair strand. theres no super glue for that.

Really! In all of my 40-odd years of going to hair salons, there has not been, one of them explained to me why my hair does not grow.
@@skygazer6898 I'm sorry they didn't. Not every stylist is long hair friendly unfortunately. Hugs.
I vaguely remember seeing something about skipping trims but I don’t remember what, is it just not necessary?
@@camoufabu not skipping them completely, but watching your ends for the dry, crunchy feeling and if the comb or brush catches then doing one.
@@thia2345gotcha, thanks 😊
The most genuine youtube video I have ever watched. Thank you.
The best hair video I have ever watched. I cut my 26 inches curly hair about 14 months ago, and I’m now super eager to grow my hair long.
I just wanna say I love your “No BS” content.
Same! And he gets to the point right away.
What kind of root spray?
Pls what is your routine and what you use please
I brought the prouducts on the list not that long ago and I’m already seeing that I have less split ends and breakages, way less. I had a really bad issue with it for years, my hair never went pass my chest. I’m looking forward to seeing (fingers crossed) growing passed that point. I’ll pop back in again at some point with how I’ve gotten along. Thanks for sharing all this information with us Live Love Locks x
Hi Samantha, any good progress with the growth yet? 🙂
Waiting on that too 😂
So happy to have found you!
Finally someone properly educated me! I have been struggling with hair growth for years! Thank you!
Too bad he talks so damn much you can't evem get to the remedy. Good God! All the repetitive speech to just push his damn product. Ugh!
I LOVE IT HERE!!!! (Newbie) don’t know how I found you but I’m glad I did! Hair referenced to bamboo was the PERFECT explanation! I’m a visual learner so thank you for being so descriptive! 🥳🥳🥳

I love how consistent he is with his products. He's been recommending that same Pureology leave-in and olaplex bonding oil throughout so many videos 🎉
I don't trim ends anymore I'm obsessed with growing my beautiful hair !!!!! Grow!!!!

Sorry hair.
Kinky curly knot today is the best leave in conditioner on your recommendation list hands down!! Totally saved my hair🙏🏼
Finally, a no non-sense hairstylist. This is all very informative and educational. Thank you!! 👏🏼👏🏼
I reckon hairdressers recommend regular trims because it makes you come back to them and hence become a regular client so they get more money

I want to share my tips. If I could post a B/A I would. My hairdresser is stunned how much my hair has grown in 2 years! Things that helped me:
-ditched the flatiron and minimal curling iron
-less washing
-Nizoral for flaky scalp.
-intermittent fasting.
-hair oils, sometimes before I wash
-clarifying shampoo once or twice monthly
-hair vitamins as well as cod liver and Vit D
-better installation of hair extensions
-not combing my hair in the shower
-finding a hairdresser who doesn’t keep highlighting the same section
-hairdresser also uses olaplex as a treatment during processing
-Dyson Air Wrap
I’m 43 and my hair is better than when I was a teenager.

Following your routine of: shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, blow out cream and hair oil has completely changed my hair.
My hair is the longest it has ever been in my life.
It's already long, but by spring it should be down to my waist. I have never retained my ends this long.

What kind shampoo and conditioner and leave in conditioner you use?
My stylist cut wayyy too much off my hair. I'm happy to hear my already existing routine and exact products I already use are key to growing it back out! 😊
Same here, I regret going for a trim to the wrong stylist. No trims for 6 months now
You are so right about the simplicity of this regimen. I simplified my regimen (getting rid of these trend products) and my hair has never felt better, thicker, and less tangled!
Hello Chris! I wanted to let you know you saved my hair! Last year I stopped highlighting my hair due to damage and losing the length of my hair. I had been going to the same
stylist for over 6 years. I told her I didn't want to do all over highlights anymore and wanted to go back to my natural color. She colored it as close to my natural
color so I could start repairing my hair. Needless to say, last May I changed stylist because my last one said it was my fault my hair was damaged and breaking off.
I have taken your advise and bought the shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, hair oil and the blow out gel. My hair has not been this heathy and growing longer
in years!

Wow, actual scientific truth with no products mentioned, I think I’m in love!
Do you trim your hair once a year?
@@sofac8252 I usually only trim it if I notice a lot of split ends or it’s getting tangled too much. For some reason many hair professionals like to cut way more off than I ask for so I don’t really like going to salons. The last time I went I asked for 2” off the ends and she cut about 8”.

Great and honest vid!
A couple of things to add in my opinion:
- it depends on your genetics as well (people with thick hair will get split ends slower etc )
-color and heat damage will affect your length just because they affect the health of the hair and will cause split ends
-washing your hair everyday and shampooing the ends will also cause damage in my experience.

He is the most honest person here in TH-cam !!!
I have watched tons and tons of hair videos, dozens and dozens of people talking about hair care etc etc,
But,
Seriously:
I have never EVER seen anyone talk so honestly, with such expertise and MUCH needed simplicity, giving THE best tips I have heard in all my life hair-wise.
I wanted to add that if the hairdresser ever asks you if you want your hair thinned down, refuse. It's been 2 years, and I still regret it. My mom thinks I lost hair due to aging or something. I just left my 20s.
I just turned 50 and will now be saying “I just left my 40s” ❤

The key to less breakage, and healthy looking hair is moisturizers. I have fine, curly hair, which tends to breakage, and being frizzy. Leave in conditioners work very well for this. You need to try different types to see, which one you like the most. There are many leave in conditioners, for different hair types, e.g. curly, wavy, straight, fine, thick. Hope that helps. I forgot to mention, that since my hair is fine, conditioners with a large amount of oil does weight my hair down. It doesn't curl and looks even thinner and limp.
Which leave in conditioner did you choose for your fine hair?

Good luck!
@@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane Yes, Olaplex !!! That's what Guy Tang used on his clients, with collagen powder.

How about some roots shadow to save some time between bleaches ?
And it will depends if your hair is dry but a leave in could also be a good idea.
Also if your hair breaks at the same spot, it could be due to an hair style, like a pony tail, or an habit you took, like a seat bealt, shoulder bags.
Brittney Gray have a video on her channel on this. I don't recall the title ! 😮💨
Also, you could gently massage your scalp to stimulate growth on this area. The best would be to use product, and to massage it before taking a shower.
All hair have a breaking point. But why not challenging it ?
I've notice some part of our hair will be more prone to breakage, those parts will need more tlc.
Good luck to you !!!
I've learned so much Blowout Professor. I started this routine last week and my hair already feels great.
Hey same just happened to me today and i cried a lot because now it’s too short. Did it work on you, do u have any tips

That was in the past
I want to clarify that Genes are a catalyst, not an essential factor.
My hair is now gorgeous; people now ask to touch it. I love myself more than I used to. My guide now is TikTok content “not anyone; I learned my lesson.”
My gene was extraordinary shiny black straight hair...
Everyone has different needs and wants, hair is such a personal thing to each of us. Do what works for you.
