Yay I wasn’t expecting to be in the video at time stamp 33:57. @BromptonFamilyTime it was great seeing you both again. I’ve decided to volunteer this year as a course marshal along with Sherwin, I had mixed feelings at the end…it was fun at the start, but as they hours drag by waving your flags and blowing your whistle becomes tiring 😂 plus the rain and wind didn’t help either. I look forward to volunteering again…and probably start near manhattan next time….that way I could be released early once all the waves have passed by and we get released by our marshal captains. As always your videos never cease to amaze me throughout your journey.
Thank you for volunteering! After you waved your flag, you get to ride to the end? We did see a few Brompton riders but next year we would like to do it with the group again. I think the Brompton group ride is a better experience.
Yeah! New York!!! I'm based in N.Y! I just got an M6L! Maybe next year I will ride the TD 5 boro Bike Tour! I see cyclist all the time in my neighborhood.Who knew I would ride a bike and eventually ride a tour! I wonder if this is the 5 boro mag in my neighborhood that is sponsoring this tour. I better continue watching! Thanks for sharing guys. I just subscribe. I'm looking forward to exploring your channel. Who knows, maybe you will see me riding the 59th street bridge or Queens blvd. Just look for the Lime Green Sneakers and wave! Yup, I'm the slow on riding up the bridge. lol
I did the ride with my brother this year. Rode my Brompton again because it’s just so much easier to take on Amtrak. We started in wave 3 and ran in to a bit of that light mist for a while before it stopped. I was on the verge of being too cold the whole 40 miles because I was just riding in my t-shirt and shorts😅 I could have put my rain poncho on, but it never got bad enough that I wanted to deal with the hassle of taking it out, putting it on and having it flap around in the wind. When we were in line for the ferry it really started to rain and we were just standing around waiting instead of riding, so I took out the poncho.
I had to ride back uptown in Manhattan to get back to my hotel and it came down in sheets when I left the ferry, much worse than on the Tour. I got completely soaked.
It was my 2nd time riding on TD 5 boro bike tour, i just turned 70 last month and I completed the tour in 5 hours with 4 stops. May be I can to ride on an e-bike next year to make more stops as needed in my age
Hey. I was a riding marshal this year. At 7:02 where you pass cyclists on the left, that was where we were stationed to come out two by two to join the ride. My partner and I were sent out at 7:35AM.
Many thanks to share with us that amazing experience again. It looks harder than one year ago, no?. Probably the rain and the wind, the cyclist enemies
Wow, this was fun to watch! I knew the tour would end in Staten Island! I was like, "I wonder if the tour is going to block off the Verrazzonal bridge!". I drove all the bridges by car and soon by bike! How exciting! Thanks for sharing your experience guys. I'm glad you both got a Brompton hat...that's the least they can do. Hey Brompton if you are reading this comment please mail me one too! I'm a newbie! Mother of M6L
Great video. Nice to see all types of bikes represented Cruz bike fwd recumbent. BF tandem. And for some reason lots of Brompton bikes...;-). Why oh why do people stop for no reason in the middle of a turn. Good thing nothing happened except a bit of heat rate increase.
Inexperienced riders, often ppl who haven't ridden in decades will fly in and rent a bike. Bromptons are getting more and more prolific every time I come into The City. Truly taking over (though realistically Bromptons are tailor made for New York in a lot of ways).
Ohh man I was at wave 2 no wonder I didn’t see you. I did my first tour this year and watched your videos for advice those energy packs are a must I used the cliff gel cubes and they worked like a charm!!
Hmm... that looked fun and not fun at the same time. Way too congested with bike traffic. How was your T-Line? Are you still happy with your upgrades? Also, it looks like you were spinning fast much of the time. Could you use more gears? Sorry about your back, too. Once it goes, it goes. Still, congrats to you and Shoko! Stay awesome! ...alright alright. ♥
I found myself. I am the on the Brompton from 14:39-14:41 yelling Brompton at you two. The highway to the Verrazano Bridge at exit 25 was where my Marshal partner and I got stuck fixing flats, giving out tubes, and giving out food and pickle juice.
Gopro Wrist Mount. We usually have three gopros on our rides. I use a quick release on another gopro for side shots too. It's fun but you have to be careful and make sure the road is smooth ahead.
Was first wave too as a Member. Wish to have ran into you guys. Great vid as always. BTW, do you know what rear mud guard that was on the white brompton at the end? Looking for one that I can use with my carbon fiber rack
Hi Stan! I am going to run into one day soon! I will join as a member next year. I believe you are referring to the guard below: us.brompton.com/p/655/flexi-fender
What a great time out and the perfect way to enjoy the city despite the weather😂 curious, as a fellow eye glass wearer what’s your recommendation for glasses?
higher handlebars are great for short leisure rides, but not for long distances. You sacrifice too much aerodynamics with an upright position. If you have an electric kit then it wouldn't matter as much.
We were in France this year during TBT. How can we join a Brompton group at the start? Is there a social media announcement in advance or is it just "look for the Brommies" when you get there?
👩🏻Hi. Standard fee is 140 plus processing fee, and VIP costs 400 plus the fee. The fee might change sometimes so i recommend you to check before registering for it.

Wonderful day, bad weather but great mood. Hope your back and knees are getting better 👌
So enjoyed that ride!
Always excited to see your videos!
You took me with you. Thanks!!!
I was in wave 2 riding my DAHON and had a great time. Thanks for the video
Nice. Dahon's ride nice with the 20" wheels.
Looks a great event. Well done!
Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Thanks for sharing, I hope your back is feeling better today.

Congratulations and amazing to see the video thanks for sharing . Wish I rode my brompton some more ❤
Weather was a bit poor compared to last year but I really fancy coming over from the UK to do this!
It was a lot of fun, you should.

That was part of the reason we rode in wave 1. I hope next year will be better.

@@BromptonFamilyTimeoh yes it was cold!! But I beat the rain stay safe out their
Good to see Juliet at the finish. I missed her. I had met her at a talk at the store by Eddie.
3:00 There was also and "M" for member (of Bike NYC) and "C" for charity rider.
Thanks. I didn't know about the C.

Oh that’s why I didn’t see you 😢 I’m looking for you and most of the brompton group is in the 3rd wave, be safe all the time 🫶🏼
We were indeed.
Next year I will be back with the group. I did miss riding with everyone.
cool ride thx for sharing!
Greetings from Singapore. Hope you are feeling better, Shu!
Yes, thank you. I bought a new chair at work and it has helped alot.
It looks fun. It was a good experience!
10:35 if it sounds like a mosquito near the ear, the t-line's freewheel is not far away.
That's hilarious. You're right. It does sound like a mosquito.
Nice editing

Gopro Wrist Mount. We usually have three gopros on our rides. I use a quick release on another gopro for side shots too. It's fun but you have to be careful and make sure the road is smooth ahead.

I learned that the bike cover bag can be used as a small pouch on the handle bars.
Good footage of the event. May I ask what was your set up to capture these videos?
We have a few Gopro cameras. I was wearing the chest mount and Shoko had her wrist mount for this ride.
21:21....damn....crash and burn
I think he hit a bump and squeezed his front brake and flipped over.
Hi, what brand is the hip pouch your wife is carrying?
I use Red Pow Pack. It is perfect for Cycling and short hikes.
Hi BFT! Great video! Nice ride too. Just wondering what mount you used for your gopro that would fit on a Tline handlebar? Thanks!
It's GoPro large clamp.
@@BromptonFamilyTime Thank you!
I think it wouldn't hurt to get some higher handlebars, I can never fathom how people can ride with the low bars!
higher handlebars are great for short leisure rides, but not for long distances. You sacrifice too much aerodynamics with an upright position. If you have an electric kit then it wouldn't matter as much.
@@BromptonFamilyTime if you go 60 kph it matters, but at anything below 30 it's really not worth it to sacrifice comfort
What's the black bag on top of your t line?
You did the bike tour on the Brompton T line 4 Speed ?
I was on my T Line 4 Speed and Shoko had her 2 Speed Swytch.
BTF.. how do you like riding in bad weather with no fenders 🥸
I forgot my fender that day. It wasn't bad but I usually rinse the seapot off with water before I fold it.
😀

Brompton NY sponsors a group ride on the MEETUP APP. Approximately 60 riders join every year!
Did swytch come installed on your Brompton? I'm only familiar with the E-Brompton
Shu bought and installed it.

Hi where I buy the pouch you have on your T line?
The frame bag is by Vincita and the handlebar back is an old Brompton bag that they discontinued.
Hi! Brompton newbie here. Is it possible to sign up and join from abroad Or is this only for New York residents?
We know a few people travels to NY from foreign countries just to join this event. So I believe anyone can join!
What was your average speed?
13 mph moving speed.
