As a fellow New Yorker, I’m in awe of how you’re both flawlessly navigating your bikes with so many distractions to consider. Potholes, grates, car doors opening, double-parked vehicles, jaywalkers, absentminded pedestrians, etc. - it’s like a real life video game. And with Tan Tan in tow! I limit my Brommie to parks only, not brave enough to head into the streets. Your ride along videos are inspiring. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
The best place to start is on the Group Rides with the local Brompton Group. They go slow and watch out for traffic. It takes time to get use to, but you always have to be careful unfortunately. We hope NY will get better/more bike lanes sooner than later. That said, we love riding in the city. There is no better way of seeing it.
To see your family making memories together is heartwarming. Tan Tan will never forget this. I loved the quizzical look on his face when he saw E.T. in the window. The initial cost of your bikes are not inexpensive but after this investment it's amazing how many carefree years you'll have exploring the city, having fun, and being a family. Love to you all. ♥...alright alright.
Another great video. Love to see people do real life riding in real life places. Also the music at the 10 minute mark at the Steinway and Son's was beautiful. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this. It’s incredible to see the city like this. Makes me want to ride and explore. Shu: love your accent and camera personality! Shoko: same, but also awesome editing skills! Tan Tan: you’re my favorite mechanic! Take care, much love, and keep the videos coming! (Recently got my first Brompton, in part thanks to your infectious enthusiasm)
Hi Shu, That's a very interesting choice of route. I haven't taken that route beyond Astoria Park, but I may check it out someday. Also, how do you get your cargo Bike Friday to Astoria Park? Is it put into a trailer/rack attached to your car or biked all the way from home to that Park? I hope your back feels better.😀
7:49 I can't believe it, these are those little brick embankments from old BMX movies that I watched 20 years ago here in Poland. I didn't think I would ever see them, sort of by accident. Thanks for the pleasant ride 💚
👩🏻Great! I never seen those brick bench/ structures and thought it was funny looking...so I quickly turned on my b roll camera! I am glad that I did that!
Like the way you parent your son letting him play and have ice cream. Nice springtime footage! Looks like it’s not hard to peddle with your son on the back. Bike infrastructure looks pretty decent. Kinda bumpy though. Are you riding against traffic some of the time? Very cool quick visit to Steinway! Any reason you don’t ride a regular bike? Great to see a family on their bikes with child in tow! Still a pretty car centric experience…Son is handling the ride quite well considering the ride seems a bit long. Stay safe! Oh, yes! To me riding with traffic like that seems pretty risky even dangerous. Maybe you are used to it. But for folks that live in less densely populated areas they might balk at attempting such a ride
@@BromptonFamilyTime Yes, that has happened to me (but not with kid in tow) and am sure a lot of other cyclists. I’m the kind of person who’d feel really bad if something unpleasant happened while going the wrong way especially with my child in the back (doesn’t set a good example). It would definitely be my fault if something happened. I try to pre plan my trips for maximum safety. People sometimes get annoyed with me because I’m so careful.
I really enjoy your videos and your little boy is a credit to both of you. Keep up the good work. Love from England 👍🏻
Relaxing ride
Thank you for my going along on your family bicycle ride!
Yup! "See you next time!"
Whenever I don't feel like going outside I watch one of your videos and it changes my mind. ☺Love from France.
"This is where they make electricity." "What?!"

You may need to install a Swytch kit for the Bike Friday to make it easier to carry Tan Tan and other stuff if needed. Hahaha
I have one on the way! Maybe this week it will come.

AMEN, what David said!
I, SO, so want bicycles and tricycles, riders, passengers, cargo, to become THE major hobbies in America!
I always enjoy your adventures.
Smells like Pee…haha.. the honesty of kids! You’re riding the Bike Friday on a Sunday? 😃 Gymnopedia..nice choice. 👍
Beautiful country!❤
34:00 This area is part of the bike lane and publicly accessible in spite of what it looks like.
Thanks. I wonder if they close this at night?

Great! I hope your enjoying your Brompton. Riding in the city takes time to learn but we love riding in the city the most.
Great video. Tan Tan and you look great on the Bike Friday. Such a good bike. Have 2 myself. Very well built and strong
It's a good looking bike. I love the design and ride so far.
Good one 🥸
So much more gear shifting when Shu gets a "real" bike.
It's defintely nice having gears. I've owned many 6 speed Bromptons and I think the new 12 must be amazing.
I commute 4 miles each way to work x 5 days a week. (40 miles a week). 20 minutes trip. Flat rodet.

I forgot. You could take the train!!! Soku's Brompton will be folded and the Bike Friday can be taken inside LIRR...😀
Watched second time.
Both fun travels and fun family!

I ride with traffic unless I don't see an option. Some roads just end abrutly so you have no choice where to go except the wrong way sometimes.

does that bracket on the head tube of the bike Friday accept a Brompton carrier block? that's a pretty neat feature
It will depend on the accessory. I will be putting a Brompton specific part on it soon lol.
It isn't a Brompton?
Our channel name is now BFT (Bike Friday Time!) lol
