    I don't get why people knock the 5speed it's geared so well on the highway the tach sits right above 2K at 80mph. I love my 4runner I wish I had bought it sooner.

    As a owner, you don’t get it. The only reason we all love it is exactly the reason you are criticising it. ❤

      He was very fair to it and seems to appreciate it. Just like every car, it has pros and cons. It’s clumsy yet reliable and satisfying to drive! Let the man do his job, there are enough reviewers making advertisements.

      @jtomtl 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don’t expect auto journalists to have a fair review, they only have the car for couple days and that’s it. Reliability is not the main focus here. More and more useless features are the main points

    Magnificent vehicle. It may drive like an ox cart and has scary nose dive, and be as slow as molasses, but it will last a life time and go everywhere and looks great. Long live Toyota.

      Honestly for a truck thats almost 3 tons it's not that bad. Have ever driven a Plymouth Breeze now that's a slow car.

    Great review, thanks. But I'm loving my 22 4runner Off Road. "Starting to show its age" is what we hear often. However, this vehicle transends that because of the over-built quality of these Toyotas. I'm on my 3rd, having gifted our 16 SR5 to our son. Never a problem. Just knowing how good they are made eclipses any thoughts of, "Oh, I wish I had a quicker vehicle that shifted faster." If you stand on the gas, the engine will respond. 5 speed auto. So what. That's all you need. Toyota doesn't squeeze that 4.0 liter engine of all the power it can get. Deliberately built that way for longevity with enough torque and horsepower. You sit and drive in quality, you don't care about drag racing some other suv at a traffic light. It's as if the 4runner is saying to you, "Relax, be in the moment, I love you, let's enjoy each other's company."

    Wow that red and orange stripe is a 1982 throwback.
    Too bad it doesn’t come in tan metallic with tan or brown leather interior.

    4Runner ages well. That’s for sure! I have a tacoma sometimes I wonder about switching to a 4Runner

    • @ddoghunt3471
      @ddoghunt3471 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will be switching due to the Tacoma short coming, my 16 has frame rust they won't fix, I have the timing cover leak (3k) dollar I have to pay for, to high gears to replace, not in the same reliable league as the 4Runner made in Japan. They are about to ruin the 4Runner like they have done to the Tacoma of yesterday!

      Yea everyone is sick and tired of the 40 year old interior colors 🤮
      We ordered our Subie’s with exterior colors so that we could have ivory interior for our Outback and Saddle Brown for our Forester.

    Two different Toyota dealers confirmed to me that the 2024 model year will be the same design as the current year, a carryover. Not likely to see a 2025 redesign until summer 2024.

    You can kick this Forerunner all you want. This will outlive some of it’s owners. 300K miles is not a pipe dream for this vehicle as it is very reliable. I’ll take it and it’s problems all day long. I plan on purchasing a second hand low mileage one. I’ll take it and it’s quirks with a smile.

    Great Review.I am glad the reviewer can appreciate this vehicle and what it represents. I agree this is an aged vehicle. However, as it stands, it will last longer than most by far. I certainly hope Toyota does not ruin it whenever they redesign it.

    I just purchased one of these today in red. I came from a 2022 Tundra that was a redesign in which Toyota got it wrong. I wanted the “older tried and true” combination that the 4Runner had to offer.

    For the price of the 4Runner, one might want to look at the Lexus GX460 for a more luxury ride and similar off road abilities.

    More speeds in transmission more problem like my 2020 jeep wrangler rubicon transmission 8 speeds broke at 80000 miles and cost 7000 to fix never again Chrysler

    You do realize that the 2nd row folds that way for a reason - and its not age - it provides a solid surface that protects the back of the front seats. This is how you can tell people that USE these vehicles VS. TV commentators.

    Which SUV will still be on the road at 200k miles with just regular maintenance with a high resale value? Not the Bronco, Wrangler, or Grand Cherokee.

  • @ddoghunt3471

    I think they cutt themselves short, should have been a model in-between a off road and pro. Older SR5 was a loaded model, tuff as hell. I would be happier with a Off Road Premium Army green, with bronze wheels and striping. Retro strips are okay but not a WOW! And WHY THE HELL couldn't we have individually numbers of the 4040. Would have been so much to a collector and prices like # 2023 of 4040 ect....☹️

    I just bought the black one. I fell in love with the orange trim. The drive is definitely great. You'll never have a hard time finding it at the parking lot. LOL. I'm a
    5'2" female driver. Not a hindrance to own this collectible piece of history.

    You nailed it. the 5 speed transmission is bad. The body roll, breaking and everything else we can deal with, Spoken like a true 4 runner owner. It's like you must own one? maybe you do. Can't blame you.They're pretty sweet!

    Another reviewer dropping the ball on emphasizing how antiquated and overpriced this vehicle is. The 4Runner should have already been updated twice since this generations debut in 2009. The fact that Toyota is still rolling out this comically outdated vehicle in 2023 is completely unacceptable. Every single car reviewer should be destroying Toyota in these reviews and pleading with their audience to avoid this vehicle at all costs. Manufacturers like Toyota should not be rewarded with sales when they neglect to properly upgrade their vehicles for such a long period of time. They should be ashamed that they are still rolling a 14 year old vehicle off of the assembly line. Anyone who buys this vehicle new in 2023 is a fool.
