I know I’m really late to the party here, but I’ve been struggling with my confidence after making the jump from u15 major to u18 major. I’ve been too afraid to make mistakes with the puck and I have turned the puck over far too many times. I really needed to see this. Thank you for making this.
Same here. I’m afraid of skating the puck up the ice, thinking it will get picked off. BUT, I’m just going to do it. I’m not going to think about me failing. And maybe I’ll dump and chase.
@@Ryois_qt I’ve been dump and chasing a ton and it’s helped get some zone time which helps a lot. I still need to skate the puck into the zone more but it’s getting better
Know this is pretty late but honestly youll get more ice time if coach sees that youre trying to get better aslong as he sees u puttin effort in youll see more ice time. I went from playing trips to uni level hockey and it was a huge jump but I proved to the coach that I was trying hard everyday and its what got me a spot as a starter in my second year. Just do wehat you think is right in that moment play with youre conscious turned off
im 11 and i really love this vid because it really helped me alot when our team got scored on, now when my goalie gets mad, i showed him this video and this helped him too, im subscribing😁
I've heard that the threshold for failure is about 85/15 meaning that as long as you're successful 85 percent of the time, you are likely to improve from your failures. Lower success rates than 85 percent , people start to encounter the law of diminishing returns for the rewards of failure. Per Andrew Huberman.
Very interesting. I love the concept of that. I just caution that people don't use that as a statistic or theory to end up not trying anything because it will count against this hypothetical count of succeeding 85% of the time. Thanks for sharing!
@@hockeypsychology I don't think it's necessary to caution people to behave rationally. That's a polarizing thought process and healthy minds don't exaggerate choices in that manner. My point was just not to sensationalize the power of fear. But to your point, fear is a far superior motivator as compared to anything else. Certainly doesn't hurt to just behave within the margins most of the time rationally however.
Me and My sledge hockey team are getting ready for our playoffs. To get to the finals we gotta get past a team who always beat up. They don’t beat us by much so I know we got a chance. It’s our first time in the playoffs ( since I’ve been on the team) and we just found out a week ago so lots of emotions going on. To add to that my coach might have me on wing for some of the game. I play on d and rarely play any other position so im really focusing on where I gotta be on wing
I’m not sure if you already have made a video or Instagram post about this, but using the body to shield the puck from defenders is a really key concept, would love to see a video about it.
Ok, I need advice so somebody anybody respond please. I’ve been so stressed lately as I’m heading into a new age group with some old teammates who don’t like me, and I’m a new goalie. I’ve only been playing goalie for 3-4 months and I’m going to a practice for someone’s team tomorrow, I’m really nervous cause I’m likely going to be the youngest one there. I’m really stressed about it, please help.
@@millerpinemeadows2755 wow this was a while ago! I did really well and I’m now subbing in for an age group above mine and am an affiliate for A team which means I’m pretty decent!

Thank you. Just watched this with my 10 year old daughter. New Subscriber. What are your feelings about playing on more than one team?

I will work on it!
@@hockeypsychology Thank you! Love your videos and analysis, really great stuff
1. Fail more
2. Don't be afraid of mistakes
3.Practice more
Confidence, or lack thereof, is huge!
Good stuff. Thanks
Is there any chance I make the nhl at 15?
Great advice! I like it.
thx that was good
Don’t get mad for losing. Practice. Don’t dwell on missing a pass or making a bad pass. Practice. Honestly, every game is a practice for the next.
