Your video inspired me to write my own review via a comment. Now that I think about it, this is completely normal behavior for Microsoft. Just look at what they did to Modern Warfare 3. This is most likely going to be a giant ramble, first I will be making a few arguments in the game's defense, then I'm gonna go on an all-out rant. If you're too lazy to read my essay, here's a summary; It's a good game with 90% of the content being cut due to greedy Microsoft deadlines. All of the stuff that would give the game redeeming qualities just so happens to fall into the big trash can of cut content. I'm not going to talk about the game mechanics not working since not only am I mostly a/an XBLA FPW youtuber but I've also played the game for years and therefore the game mechanics are completely normal to me. First thing I want to say (I wrote this after writing the rest of the comment because I was writing while watching the video) Your game almost certainly crashed because the core mechanic of the Xbox Live functionality of the game doesn't even work. What I'm saying is that whenever you fight certain enemies (usually Trainer Ted or Wrestling Bag) in the campaign mode, they are replaced with a random one of your Xbox Live friends if you have any. There is no fix to this other than either playing with an offline profile or disconnecting your internet every time you play. In defense of XBLA FPW It's kinda obvious that the developers of this game were forced to cut corners like crazy to meet an unrealistic deadline. There were supposed to be so many ai characters to fight (possibly up to 1000, but i think it's most likely somewhere closer to 400-800) but they just never got to it and therefore there are only around 85 unique characters in the game. This becomes wayyy more noticeable if you use a computer and something like horizon to extract the Legend series DLC... the DLC doesn't even add anything except for a few images. Instead, it's like a key that unlocks already existing cut content. You were also originally going to be able to level all the way up to 999 (you can still do this through a corrupted save file) and 3.6.0 was never meant to even be the last enemy you fought in the first place. As someone who has spent a concerning amount of time playing this game, I think, Fire Pro or not Fire Pro, the game would have done better by magnitudes if they just released it in 2013-2014 instead of cutting out 90% of the content. Despite its flaws, the game is still ok. It's not a "good" game, but it's not bad at all either, and the game does get more difficult (and more fun) as you progress. Now, for the mean part. In offense against XBLA FPW This game is absolutely wack. Pretty much every single level is absurdly easy, then as soon as you fight the only 1-on-3 that wasn't turned into cut content, the game hits a difficulty spike even sharper than Full Moon in Castle Crashers. Every level after that is difficult to the point where it's absurd, the AI in the game become insanely competitive but incomprehensibly stupid, sometimes even causing themselves to lose by ring out if it means their opponent doesn't get to win either. And like I said before, once you hit level 100, it just cuts abruptly and now there's nothing left to do in the game. And that's IF you beat the final boss to begin with, and I'm not talking about the punching bag, I'm talking about 3.6.0, and I'm not talking about 3.6.0, I'm talking about his teammate (who should be Trainer Ted if you truly know how to play) Trainer Ted CHEATS, and that's not even a joke. I spent SIX MONTHS experimenting with his character trying to get the exact amounts of damage he does with each move, his stats are as follows Power: 40 Speed: 50 Technique: 30 Stamina: 30 Toughness: -10 (since it's a 1-on-2, his toughness is automatically decreased by 25) Luck: 27 And you might ask "um actually how can he have 40 power if he has the EX tiger suplex which costs 50 power?" And to that I answer; that's the funny part. He cheats. It's the same exact way level 95 Wicked Little has the EX chokeslam despite CLEARLY HAVING 20 POWER (you can tell by his animations alone that he HAS to have less than 33 power as he quickly jumps in and out of the ring instead of rolling). And the late-game enemies aren't the only ones who cheat, you also have TOY BOY, also has the EX chokeslam despite only being level 10. Just a reminder that the EX chokeslam costs 50 power, YOU DON'T EVEN GET 50 SKILL POINTS AT LEVEL 10. And the funny part is that 3.6.0 doesn't cheat, like, at all. He has the exact same upgrades as Trainer Ted (but with -15 toughness and 32 luck). Which you could then argue that since he has 10 toughness normally, he should only have 7 luck, meaning he can still technically be considered a cheater. My BIGGEST piece of criticism EVER against this game is this Match types that you can play in exhibition mode -Single (1-on-1) -Tag -2-on-2 -4-Way Match -Battle Royal Match types that can only be played in the campaign -Every single boss arena (Yes, boss arenas, despite looking the same, are actually completely different arenas than their normal counterparts. It would have been so cool to do a 1-on-1 against your friend and have the boss music playing in the background instead of whatever goofy music normally plays) -Matches with enemies that have special AI (Yep, special AI like Kung Fu Liu, Master Wang, and Turnbuckle Pete use placeholder AI in exhibition mode making them a thousand times more useless. The ONLY exception to this in the entire game is level 22 Trainer Ted, as well as Evil Giant and Wicked Little) -Battle Royal 3 (3 Player Battle Royal, only appears once ever in the entire game) -1-on-2 (There is no reason at all for them not to add this to exhibition mode) -1-on-3 (The best match type in the game. If they added this, and the ability to add in duplicates of the same NPC, I would spend hours fighting 3 Trainer Teds at a time... that is if they even allowed you to fight Trainer Ted in exhibition mode to begin with. Why don't they let you do that?) -1-on-2 Tag (This match wouldn't work because of a bug where the player tags in the enemy instead of the enemy tagging in the enemy) -1-on-3 Tag (Same as 1-on-2 tag but the enemy CAN tag in another enemy, which doesn't fix the bug) -4-Way Tag (This match doesn't exist but could easily be added in if someone could de-obfuscate and mod the game) -1-on-1-on-2 or similar (These matches would have been incredible, but no, they just couldn't add them, not even into campaign mode) There were other unfair match types where the player got the advantage like a possible 3-on-1 (in the legend series photo thing, you can see a 2nd wrestling bag suggesting the player would at one point have 2 tag teammates) as well as a 2-on-1 The 2-on-1 actually does technically still exist but it got changed into the Duke of Curl vs Drama Queen level. You will notice that Drama Queen is extremely biased and only attacks Duke of Curl unless you are in her way or until he either leaves the ring or gets pinned. The fact that there is THIS MUCH cut content in THE MATCH TYPES ALONE is ABSOLUTELY ABSURD. I don't know what Microsoft did, but it was absolutely with the intention of creating a mindless cash grab out of a good, well respected franchise. It's almost like Microsoft is still doing this exact same thing, go take a look at how MW3 is doing. Overall Rating Overall, in my absolutely biased opinion, I would rate it a 6/10, or 7/10 if I'm being extra biased since the game can be fun, but the opponents at the start of the game are just so weak and boring that the first impression of the game alone is enough to ruin it. This game definetely deserves all of the same fame that games like CastleMiner and Doritos Crash Course get, but instead of making a DIFFERENT game, microsoft decided to take the term "Fire Pro", slam it into the mat, pin it, and then dragon suplex it 20 more times. Feel free to let me know if I left anything out on accident.
A few small corrections; -Duke of Curl also still has special AI in exhibition mode -Winter Eyes seems to have special AI in exhibition mode, but not in campaign mode. When paired in a 2-on-2 with Chosen Chen, if Chosen Chen is attacked, Winter Eyes will stop whatever she is doing to attack the person who attacked Chosen Chen. I might be wrong though. -You can fight Trainer Ted in exhibition mode, but only the level 1 Trainer Ted who is somehow extremely weak despite cheating.
I hate Microsoft, it would be better if this game came out on PC or PS3. The game just feels like it’s as if the whole game was simply cut out and left 10%, where 1 vs 2 1 vs 3 2 vs 3 or 3 vs 2 or 1 vs 3 where there is the opportunity to play three players first win and battle royal. Where is the option to add more players to a match? Lol In previous parts there were at least 4 people on one team, in this one there were 4 people just playing the game. Where is all this in the mode where you can select players? And in general, now there will be a moment why I don’t really like the fire pro wrestling series as a whole, why can’t I subtly edit the match? For example, I want one team to be a tag, and the other tornado. (It's like all the players of a team play together, and not through a rope) Or a battle royal where some players are united into one team, or a 4 way match. The only thing we can edit is if you fall out of the ring you lose! And this doesn’t work well, I want them to immediately fall out of the ring and lose, and not after some attempts. Another thing that is neutered in this game is the techniques and balance. Why are there so few appointments? It's just a game of endless clicking on your opponent. And also balance, why did they add the lvl function and stronger moves? This was not the case in previous parts, everyone was equal, which is why capture became a mini-game and not button synchronization. Lol this game has two animations for a failed capture. While in the previous parts it was simply impossible to count them. And in general, why do we love this series? That's right, it's an extensive editor, in this game you can only edit wrestlers, and you'll need a FULL playthrough of the game to open all the items. Where is the presenter and his editing? Where is the editing of the ring, where is the ability to select a wrestler as second. Where are the other 1000 and 1 mechanics that were in previous parts, but not in this one? Lol this game is literally a money grab for Microsoft it's more of a poke simulator B, A, Y, X, LT, RB. Fucking 8 locations and such “unique wrestlers.” Thanks Microsoft you are the worst. UPD I almost forgot the “main feature of this game”: the Finisher. Well that's not true, it's just a modified critical hit that doesn't kill the wrestler. And here again about balance. Why do some people not have this blow, but others do? It's just not fair. And it’s clear that the game is almost ready, but greedy Microsoft wanted this to be not a full game, but a paid demo version. The game crookedly contains remnants of the beta version, for example, the mysterious fighter in the picture of the evil giant and in the 3rd level of training, Or in the art there was a beta version (I forgot her name) of the masked girl in the first win in the champion at the 4th stage. In the beta version it was without a mask, and could possibly be opened with fire pro. (I made a guess based on the game trailer). And the destructor was wearing a green hat and green clothes.
@@JetPegasus Speaking of trainer ted, I believe that this trainer ted is from the stage 3 park. But only with a small lvl and other music with animation. Why they didn’t just make different versions of trainer ted like evil giant and wicked little seems to remain a mystery. Or there was not enough time for this matter
In general, it would be better to just leave the company in the game and that’s it, the selection mode is simply terrible, done on the knee in 3 seconds.
Stumbled across your video whilst looking for footage of this game (Currently doing a project to recreate the entire roster in Fire Pro Wrestling: World, DLC Wrestlers included). Gotta say, all of these points are pretty apt. Always thought this was a curious little thing, as the idea was there... Just that the execution was something else.
To be honest, the game is good, BUT if spike chusoft had developed the game alone, and not with the greedy Microsoft team, then the game would have turned out very good and it would have been as popular as the rest of fire pro wrestling. Simply put, there would be more modes, fighters, and an edit mod. Edit mod was my favorite thing in fire pro wrestling, when I played this game I was a little upset that edit mod, there are many modes and there are no 8 wrestlers. If you compare fire pro wrestling world, they can, they developed this game with Sony, and they could. Microsoft wanted more money and gave very short terms.
Remaster it, put it under its own name, have it do its own thing while improving upon what’s there and you’d have peak xbox avatar wrestling. (I still love the game to death even if others don’t lmao)
