This NECA figure had me so scared, I soaked him in semi-hot water to soften things up. I popped the fisted hands off and used the batarang hand and the open hand for display. And yeah, the whole temps hot to cold on the boats, blah blah. And that was the REAL one.
Thanks so much for the multiple shout-outs and clips dude! I'm sorry you got a dodgy figure too, but I think it was expected really, wasn't it? All aboard for Knock-off Central! Great video sir! 👍🐵
The action figure market has become really huge and as collectors we do sometimes take a chance on something, that sometimes turns out to be good or can go the other way and we end up with a sub standard product. Collecting no matter what it might be is sometimes a gamble.
Great video, Dean, thanks! In regards to it being a knock-off or not, at 4:19 "First things first, We have a legless Batman, not a good sign". 😁 Sorry to see what happened as soon as you took it out of the plastic. I've never seen that happen on modern figures so it's good to look out for.
Hey Dean👋🇬🇧 I need to watch MBT video!!…. I think I have that same Superman KO🤬😀…. I bought it years ago, quite cheap but have left it in the box….. It didn’t say it was a KO on eBay🤔 Ah well, what’s the worst that can happen🦵👀 A pretty fun video Dean and like MonkeyBoy said, at least you stayed calm…. I suspect you’d guessed it was a KO at that price. It’ll still display well, albeit with glued legs😩 Some KO stuff is really good, the transformers stuff as an example. It is what it is my friend😀👍
Well, all things considered, if this one will just stand on a shelf, you got your $12 worth. That said, it was another instance of "if it seems too good to be true...". The most ironic and telling part of the video honestly is when you have to consider that, despite all of the blatant signs that this is a knockoff, there's still a little tiny part of you that wonders if it is an actual NECA product anyway. Lol For 12 bucks though, I would have picked one of these up to display on a shelf for sure. 😉👍
The Neca FRIDAY THE 13TH Jason Voorhees figures are popular with the bootleggers. There are very handy comparison videos on TH-cam for spotting the differences. Fortunately, I saw the videos before buying.
My legit neca 89 batman broke the exact same way when i took him out of the package and no one believed me. The saddest part is his packaging was just a blister card so neca just has some seriously fragile figures.
Might not be a real Neca, but to me it looks like a reasonable sculpted figure. A bit of CA glue on the leg and some ironing on the cape and you are good to go for 12$ display piece. Could be nice for a diorama or as the driver of a Batmobile (the broken leg might be an advantage posing in the cockpit). Does there exist a 60ies Batmobile on the scale of this figure?
The quality of the legitimate NECA DC figures - the ‘89 Batman, movie Superman, and this Adam West Batman - was atrocious. As wonky as this example is, it might be better (or at least no worse) than the real thing. In fact, it may have come from the same factory as the NECA ones. They might have produced X number for NECA’s factory run, and then cranked out a bunch more for the black market.
This is a noob question- since all of these action figures, originate in Chinese factories, how do we know that these are “fakes” and not just figures that didn’t pass the QC process at the regular NECA factory?
What do you think of this $12 figure? Please let me know in the comments.

Well at least you were calmer about this than I was with my Superman! Thanks again for the shout-outs dude 🙏🐵
You're welcome 👍🏻

You're very welcome 👍🏻 In all honesty, it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
Can always be left out in the back garden in a home made Batcave without having to worry about a good figure being ruined by the elements.
HAHA Stop giving me ideas 👍🏻

Yep my experience too, also with consumer products in general. Knock-off's are not always bad. But indeed more of a gamble.

👍🏻
I’d try some plumbers (Teflon) tape on the ball joint for the wonky leg
👍🏻
Great video as always my friend. Not the greatest figure but I think it will look good on display
Agreed 👍🏻

12 Bucks for a cheap yet still quite okay KO is alright, I'd say.
That's still too much, 2 dollars would be good 👍😊
Yup 👍🏻
If you pay anything under 45 Dollars American. Then it is definitely a knockoff!
13 dollars for a knockoff isn't bad either
True 👍🏻
I had a similar issue with neca movie TMNT figures. They look great though so I don't mind them being fakes 😂
👍🏻

Yeah, definitely not bad for twelve bucks.

Sadly, even the McFarlane '66 Batmobile is too small for the 6" figures so this one from Neca definitely won't fit in it properly.
Honestly I think you convinced me to buy this figure. It looks good and the flaws can be fixed so I'd say it's worth the price.
👍🏻
Looks like a good looking figure great video
Thanks 👍🏻
Hi Dean, out of interest who plays your favourite movie Batman? And your favourite Batman movie? Besides Adam west.
I actually don't have any. I only watch the Adam West Batman.
Looks good with what I can see yes at $12 not bad and as they have many problems no idea if knock off or real
Did you get ace high ?
I've not been back to Mega Plaza yet but I'm not sure I want to spend $60 on that Maiden figure.
With NECA figures I think it's best just to display them and never ever touch them again. LOL!!
LOL 👍🏻
Yeah I have been stung with Fecka knock offs before!🤦♂️ Hello China!🙊🤣 Still it should display well if you don't touch it. Cheers👍🍻
Yeah, despite the poor quality, it still looks pretty cool. 👍🏻

Because China is renowned for producing counterfeit items like these.
A grown man buying dolls? Of course scammers think your an easy mark. 😮
Oh look, the village idiot has discovered the internet. You have earned the title of Grand Wanker. Well done.
