Steel, Superboy, Eradicator, and Cyborg Superman appear in this movie. And for anyone wondering about Steel, his name is John Henry Irons. (Named after John Henry, hero of a widely sung African American folk ballad. It describes his contest with a steam drill, in which John Henry crushed more rock than the machine but died “with his hammer in his hand.”) He was a weapons engineer, who built himself an Ironman type suit in order to emulate Superman after his death. 😊
Fun fact about steel he had a live action movie in the 90s with Shaq playing him, it’s a so bad it’s good movie to watch well drinking (if you are of age) with friends.
@gamemasternintendoo He is also based off of Dwayne McDuffie, the creator of Static Shock, and the reason John Stewart, Martian Manhunter, and Hawkgirl were in Justice League Unlimited.
Fact that that super dictionary entry was memed on enough that it was actually made fully canon is hilarious. One continuity one of the early times Clark and Lex meet is in detention, Lex stole 40 cakes from the bake sale because the school wouldn't approve a fission powered toaster science fair exhibit, and Clark was skipping class (which, he technically was, but had a good saving someone reason he wouldn't reveal)
Don’t worry, there are still plenty of great animated DC films for you guys to watch after the DCAMU. Superman Vs. The Elite, Green Lantern: First Flight, Justice League: Gods & Monsters, Batman: Soul Of The Dragon, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths, All-Star Superman, Justice League: The New Frontier, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, Superman: Man Of Tomorrow, and more. Still a lot of stuff to look forward to before you’d even need to get to all the great live action films, not to mention countless great shows and cartoons.
For anyone whose first exposure to Superboy was Young Justice this version of him must be so weird, but this is the OG T-shirt Connor was later. Also you joke, but Superman does shave by using his hear vision.
@@shinyagumon7015 Gillette had a campaign where celebrities guessed how he shaved…. One of the myth busters guessed that he flew over a road at super sonic speed, using the road like a belt sander…. The animated show had already revealed the laser eye and mirror technique
I personally loves the reason of why is this suit black, is because that if even Clark was revived, he would be hella of weak coming from his resurection and so, because the color black can absorb sunlight way more easy than other colors, having Clark using it is a way for him to recover his strenght and powers faster than normal, this is also why in future timelines, like in Batman Beyond to put an example, his costume is black, because even if a kryptonian like Clark age at a low rate compares to us humans, he still aging, so he may need little help of the extra sunlight absorption of his suit.
@@alejandro9043 Nice to see people who actually understand the reasoning and lore behind Superman's black suit...Instead of crying about him wearing it and calling him "Emo Superman" when he wore it in ZSJL.
Yeah, this is absolutely Conner’s origin in the comics. Personality, costume, and everything Also, Green Lantern does have his own animated movie. It’s not in this set. It came out a little before the DCAMU started. It’s called Green Lantern: First Flight. It’s pretty good
I remember in The comics each of these Superman own titles Steel got "Man of steel" Superbly got "superboy" The Cyborg superman got "Man of tomorrow" The Eradicator got "Last son of krypton" Also I believe this is where Henry cavill's black suit came from.
In case you're interested you guys can watch Green Lantern: The Animated Series It's an amazing show, you'll learn a lot about the vast Green Lantern lore and its loosely related to Young Justice. And If you want Green Lantern movie there are two actually, the first one is Green Lantern: First Flight and the second a one is Green Lantern the Emerald
I like the thought of Lois and Diana becoming friends because it is kind of nice to think that the superheroes actually have people outside of their immediate circle you know somebody who's not superpowered or superhero or enhanced with the training or a suit just someone that they can just talk to and hang out with, with no expectations
If they arent going to watch the 90s Batman and 90s Superman, then yeah I really wish they would have started with the Justice League you're talking about.
I mean not so much for Hawkman. There's like 3 different versions that show up and two of them are borderline evil. Plus his wife is technically Hawkwoman while Hawkgirl is generally without him but I find it irrelevant to mention most times. I think Smallville does a better job of adapting Hawkman but he's only in seasons 9 and 10.
Yeah at 1:22 that’s the original design for Superboy from the 90s. Superboy/Conner Kent is my all time favourite superhero happy he is in this movie and the show young justice yes technically it is the same character but deferent universes.
Fun fact, in one of the cartoons there is a little scene of Superman shaving by reflecting his heat vision off a mirror. And in one of the old movies Superman donates one of his hairs to a museum where it holds up a 1 ton weight. Although it could be cut with specialized bolt cutters
there is a documentary in TH-cam about Death and Reign of the Supermen in TH-cam Apparently comic writers planned for a Superman Lois wedding but the live action series Lois and Clark was doing a wedding story so they decided on Killing him. there were 4 comics runing and each had a version of Superman Cyborg Erradicator Steel Superboy
Superman is able to channel his biomatrix through objects he touches to make them stronger. Its how he can lift massive objects like entire buildings without them falling apart on him. It also allows him to make a pair of ordinary scissors or razor strong enough to cut his hair if he focuses on it enough. In some comics and shows he is also shown to use his heat vision as well but the biomatrix is the usual method for hand waving kryptonian grooming issues away. Can you imagine the problem their hair and nails would present without it?
For anyone who doesn't know, the reason Superman died in the comics was they wanted to let him and Lois get married. The robin in the comic YJ is actually more relaxed and calculating compared to dick Grayson and superboy and impulse (a flash kid) are super funny so it evens out so well 😊
There's multiple animated movies prior to this run, and a few of the best are from that. Superman vs the Elite and Crisis on Two Earths being the best examples
Man, I didnt remember liking this movie that much. But on rewatch with you guys it was so much better than I remembered! Superman is a character a lot of people (myself included) didnt know or think could be so complex and awesome, but he really is! I remember watched the animated series and falling in love, and then these movies (amongst other things) helping even more!
Yeah from my knowledge this personality and variant of Superboy is the original, the YJ show has the version of him people seem to like less and I assume was more recent
Yeah, outside of this DC animated universe, they still have some great animated movies y'all haven't seen yet. They have the RWBY crossover movies that you mentioned. They were really good. A few older ones, like Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Justice League: Crisis on two Earths, and I know I'm forgetting some other really good ones.
I read the novelized version in the nineties as a teen, and I'm staring at this real hard nitpicking differences. But, then again, I love alternate worlds from X-men and Trek. DC really, really nails the animated stuff.
Funny enough Green Lantern does have multiple animated films that are set in different universes and take place outside of the DCAMU. Specifically two films called *Green Lantern First Flight (2009)* , *Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (2011)* even a *Green Lantern Animated Series* (which is one of the best DC animated shows Ive seen and insanley well written and underrated asf) I like how well it adapts the Reign of Superman storyline. Lois and Clarks relationship when written well like int his movie is one of rhe many reasons why Lois and Calrk are arguably the best superhero couple. I also really like seeing Lois get more of a spotlight and show how she is in fact her own independent character and I really like her wholesome friendship with Wonder Woman. Im glad you guys are checking out Young Justice so you are more familiar with Conner Kent as a character, even he was originally introduced he was as cocky as he was introduced in this movie as Lex Luthor engineered him to be which even though I love Conner in Young Justice and his arc growing past his rage, but I do prefer his hipster/90's design in the comics and this movie. Im also a big fan of Steel as a character and I love his suit design which of course is similar to Iron Man but he does in fact separate himself from Iron Man as a character and how much Superman inspired himto be his own superhero and be one of the many first black superheroes to make an impact is really special. Superman has his own Super-Family of heroes like how Batman has his Bat-Family and your already familiar with Superboy, Steel, and Eradicator but theres also Supergirl who isan especially famous DC character and if you want to learn more about her Id highly recommend movies like Superman and Batman: Apocalypse, Superman: Unbound, My Adventures With Superman (tv series, wonderful show)
So Superman is dead what do you do? Everyone tries to fill the void; Superboy the rebellious teen clone made by Lex, Cyborg Superman the well, cyborg who thinks he's Superman which they framed as Darkseid-related, the Eradicator which is just a battery pack sent by the Fortress to recharge Superman, and Steel - John Henry Irons who we saw in Death of Superman, a good man trying to follow his legacy with a mechsuit. Hawkman does actually have a rich backstory, cursed with reincarnation, he's very underrated and underused. But superheroes don't stay dead forever, usually at least, and thus we get Black Suit and Mullet Superman! Including the gun while he recharged his powers.
Lots of amazing animated DC stuff out especially the older stuff like BTAS and the first season of justice league is basically just multi part episodes that have just 1 story.
@vashtinayagar1325 You mean they cannot watch the first crossover until finishing season 7 or 8. The second movies needs them to finish volume 9 first, maybe even watch the animatic of that unfinished last scene.
@vashtinayagar1325 yeah at the end of the first crossover they likely returned to a point in volume 8 but in the beginning of the second crossover team RWBY are in the setting that the end of volume 9 is leading into for volume 10. Assuming we get a volume 10.
Theres actually two animated Green Lantern movies, set in their own universe. Haven’t watched the second, but I remember the first one being pretty cool
Green Lantern: The Animated Series is a 3D animated series starring Hal Jordan and a ton of other GL specific characters! It's really good story-wise and doesn't get the recognition it deserves. If y'all want to dive into GL lore, their powers, and all the different Lantern Cores, I highly recommend checking it out.
Cyborg Superman is actually a REALLY cool, legit villain. I mostly know him from the Green Lantern Comics, as he’s just as big an enemy for them as Superman. Every time he’s killed he just backups to another piece of tech, so he’s essentially immortal. He’s just filled with rage pointed in every direction, including inward, and his MO (again at least in GL) is basically to team up with anyone that will a) allow him to get revenge and b) promises to find a way to permanently kill him when the work is finished.
I always love seeing g gordon godfrey in dc media, he's always been a great dc proxy to marvel's j jonah jameson, but he smears all the superheroes as opposed to just the one which is hilarious
‘Glorious’ GODfrey is cool. I think he only appeared in one storyline though. Once it was revealed he was a god I think it was over pretty quick. He wasn’t strong despite being a god, but I think he basically had the entire world at each other’s throat, just complete chaos. iirc Darkseid kills him once the plan is failed.
Oh, Eric actually guessed how he shaves. Cool. I'm also pretty sure in one comic he uses a kryptonite dusted razor, but the heat vision is the more accepted method he uses.
What’s crazy is that they’ve already realized their mistake in the other movie, they’re not even reading it out phonetically or anything, they just keep saying Dark SEED like who tf is that 😂
Don’t know if anyone’s reccomended it yet but if they haven’t, I’d put “Superman Vs The Elite” on your watch list at some point - it’s a fantastic superman story revolving around a new super team that doesn’t mind killing villains, and Superman dealing with the public seemingly accepting the Elites brand of justice with roaring applause.
superboy (obvious which one is that), steel who is guy with the armour and hammer, eradicator the one who keeps saying about eradicating everything, and cyborg superman is the robotic skull face
There is literally a scene in the DCAU that shows Superman getting ready in the morning, and yes, he uses the bathroom mirror to laser-eye his stubble off.
Superboy as shown here is how Superboy was initially created as. His appearance in Young Justice is reflective of his character being changed for the late 2000s
Hey guys don't forget to do the DC Showcases! They're short little movies usually found in the bonus features. DC Showcase Death in particular would be amazing. She's my favorite fictional character and it really would mean so much if ya'll watched it. Anyway you guys are awesome. Keep making great content!
To answer your question about how Superman does his hair, it's exactly how Erik said. He looks in the mirror and uses his heat vision to cut it. It's also how he shaves.
THE RWBY CROSSOVER MOVIES WILL NOT MAKE ANY SENSE UNTIL YOU ARE NEARLY CAUGHT UP WITH THE SHOW! They're still well worth a watch however, just not until you are starting Volume 9.
Lex actually was part of the JL in the comics for a short period. The funny thing is that he ACTUALLY was trying to be good and turn over a new leaf but nobody believed him, and once they did start to actually come around to him DC made him a villain again.
Steel, Superboy, Eradicator, and Cyborg Superman appear in this movie. And for anyone wondering about Steel, his name is John Henry Irons.
Superman has his own Super-Family of heroes like how Batman has his Bat-Family and your already familiar with Superboy, Steel, and Eradicator but theres also Supergirl who isan especially famous DC character and if you want to learn more about her Id highly recommend movies like Superman and Batman: Apocalypse, Superman: Unbound, My Adventures With Superman (tv series, wonderful show)
Yes! Caught it just a minute after the video release!
Yes superman canonically shaves by reflecting his eye lasers in a mirror
Lots of amazing animated DC stuff out especially the older stuff like BTAS and the first season of justice league is basically just multi part episodes that have just 1 story.
Just letting you guys know that you CANNOT watch the first RWBY x Justice League crossover until you’ve finished Volume 7 & 8❤️
@vashtinayagar1325 You mean they cannot watch the first crossover until finishing season 7 or 8. The second movies needs them to finish volume 9 first, maybe even watch the animatic of that unfinished last scene.
@@warbird333 oh really? Didn’t know that, I’ll edit my comment
LETS GOOOO. Also there's an animated Green Lantern show. Hightly recommend it.
The DCAMU still continues with the tomorrowverse.
(At 19:25) The worst part is, if this is "Connor Kent" Superboy… then he's related to both Superman and Lex Luthor.
Superman/batman : public enemies
Superman/batman: apocalypse
26:30 You called it. Superman reflects his lasers in his bathroom mirror to shave 😂
For the record yes Superman does use a mirror and lasers his hair off. You can see a clip of it from the old animated series
1:58 - Fun fact: Robot Chicken made a skit on _exactly this._ It's called getting "Supe'd."
The way y'all say Darkseid 😭😭
Dark'Seed' 😂😂
@@sahin1645 🤣🤣
What’s crazy is that they’ve already realized their mistake in the other movie, they’re not even reading it out phonetically or anything, they just keep saying Dark SEED
like who tf is that 😂
@@jerrisgilbert5256 exactly lol!!!
@@jerrisgilbert5256 to annoy people lol
I can't believe you guys didn't know who John Henry Irons was! Or Steel!
Yes. Glad you guy watching this in order.
You guys gotta watch Superman vs The Elite if you haven't already.
superboy (obvious which one is that), steel who is guy with the armour and hammer, eradicator the one who keeps saying about eradicating everything, and cyborg superman is the robotic skull face
0:48
Constantine was originally made as a sequel to his television show and was released in conjunction with him appearing on Legends of tomorrow
There is a animated movie for green lantern called Green Lantern first flight
There is literally a scene in the DCAU that shows Superman getting ready in the morning, and yes, he uses the bathroom mirror to laser-eye his stubble off.
“A second Superman has hit the tower sir” 😂😂 that’s genius level comedy right there 😂😂
Clark shaves using his heat vision. It's been depicted in two different tv adaptations. It's really fun to see!
Superboy as shown here is how Superboy was initially created as. His appearance in Young Justice is reflective of his character being changed for the late 2000s
25:57 I wonder how powerful this revived Superman is
Fun fact in multiversus superman has his reawakend skin with the full black and long hair so
Batman: The Long Halloween - Jensen Ackles!! Red Hood/Jas9n Todd and Bruce Wayne
26:31 yes in the comic he does shave and cut his hair with his laser eyes and mirror
20:06 DarkSIDE, not DarkSEED
Hey guys don't forget to do the DC Showcases! They're short little movies usually found in the bonus features. DC Showcase Death in particular would be amazing. She's my favorite fictional character and it really would mean so much if ya'll watched it. Anyway you guys are awesome. Keep making great content!
Seeing the supermen I never though I would see was dope asf ERADICATORRRR and this darkseid voice is fire asf
Tony Todd as Darkseid is just fantastic casting. Especially in Apokolips War
Respect for actually remembering Steel’s name. Once you said Irons I thought in my head “Just say the black guy it’s okay” 😂😂
26:25 Actually yes, I'm pretty sure that is exactly how Clark shaves
Guys are totally right of where he has to probably use his heat vision to cut his hair and facial hair
26:30 yes, I am shocked you got it on the first try big props
The 2012 Green Lantern animated series is SEVERELY underrated. If y'all are really wanting to see more Green Lantern stuff I HIGHLY recommend it!
Another great move outside of the DCAMU you'd like is Gotham by Gaslight.
Who is this Darkseed fella they keep talking about? Sounds like a nice guy.
I adore how they did Superboy in this movie, and I'm glad to see him get a happy ending (living with Ma and Pa Kent)
Lex actually was part of the JL in the comics for a short period. The funny thing is that he ACTUALLY was trying to be good and turn over a new leaf but nobody believed him, and once they did start to actually come around to him DC made him a villain again.
Superboy with the leather jacket is peak!
26:27 actually he does use his heat vision to shave
I love the this movie. The Death and Return of Superman is such a great story. Cyborg Superman is such a great villain too
1:56
There actually was an issue where people put themselves in danger and live-streamed Superman saving them. It was really funny. lol
17:15 "nah theyre good. They dont need my help" 🤷♀️ xD
1:40 - Meanwhile, everyone in the bus just got slammed to the front.
17:45 - "Come with me if you want to live."
So...did I miss where someone commented that revived Kal-El stole Ruff's look?
