Moje zdanie jest takie, że Knopfler poczuł się urasony, że jego grupa zostaje wprowadzona do RRHOF dopiero teraz zyli ze 25 lat za późno i nie chciał w tym uczestniczyć. Ds to Mark Knopfler. Koniec i kropka.
Does anybody know why Mark Knopfler decided to be absent? Being humble perhaps as he is usually? Dire Straits is one of the finest bands we had the chance to listen and this was the chance for the fans to share a good time with them and remind to the guys they're still in the soundtrack of our lives. I know in 1995 Mark said "it became too big", I understand music industry requirements and fame were too heavy so he decided to reset all that dropping the "Dire Straits" label and the fantastic line up built through the "On Every Street/On the Night" years but his voice/music/lyrics/songs and the band members/additional musicians have been present through his solo years. Perhaps Mark Knopfler greatness needs no more prizes or acknowledgments but I think the rest of the band deserved a fantastic hour being acknowledged, listening/telling compliments and memories powered by Mark's presence, they all are awesome!! If I love rock through Dire Straits music it's not just by MK's awesome talent, but because of the bunch of all those talented guys (even the session and tour musicians that worked with them). Alan and Guy are in-house fantastic keyboardists/pianists but When I read Danny Cummins played percussions in Ulta (Depeche Mode) or Phil Palmer produced a Franco DeVita album I already knew they were super-stars thanks to Dire Straits last tour. I'm sorry it was a watered celebration, the guys deserved a raptuous and warm celebration. John Ilsley is a gentleman and acted great in that weird role of being presenter/receiver but he deserved to be totally happy that night.
PICK WITHERS! for God's sake! He made you world-class. Pick Withers is the greatest post-Ringo drummer besides Phil Collins. He is why people listened to Mark all over the world, not just local England.
It's actually wrong that no one inducted them, and they basically had to do it for themselves. Why do Dire Straits get the hate they do? I mean a band or musician that is/has been inducted into the hall of fame, means that they did something for music, for rock that contributes something to the future of music, it's a massive achievement. And with Mark's storytelling and his unique guitar playing, I just don't get how more people dismiss this band, it just doesn't make sense. Unless it's because "it's not cool or rock n roll" to like Dire Straits, because some people are convinced their a "dad" band, maybe, but for a "dad" band, Dire Straits rocks better then most, and deserve more recognition then what they get, as this induction is a shit show, just glad some people had sense to vote...didn't know it worked through votes. Either-way, I'm happy they made it to the hall of fame, and I shall be playing their music till the day I die
This is a disgrace that this could happen to such a great, important and influential band. They responsible to some of rock-and-roll's cla albums and songs.
People keep criticizing the Rock&RollHallOfFame, in all fairness I think they do a very good job; we're all biased because we're fans of certain bands and believe the moment of induction has something to do with recognition, each band has its own story that all of us ignore, there is no apple to apple comparison, this is no popularity pageant, let alone a race.
it is so pathetic that this audience had no great respect or admiration for this band, John Illsley had to tell them to stand up to show respect, and they were reluctant. I feel bad for John, but he had the guts to do that and I don't blame him. what a bunch of jerks these people in the audience are. Che tristezza! Una delle più grandi band del pianeta...
Mark, I always enjoyed your work!!! BUT you were a GIGANTIC Tool, for not showing up, for one night!!!!
Congratulations Mark&DS!!!... you are Great!! 👏👏❤️
Wish Jon Bongiovi was asked to induct Dire Straits. In an interview about his opinion of the greatest guitar players, he opines, “I love Mark Knopfler. Completely different style guitar player, but all it is also goes back to their songwriting ability too because it’s integral to the whole thing.”
Congratulations! 👏 👍 Really great acceptance speeches. Humble men.
It really is too bad though that Mark Knopfler wasn't there. 🎶🎵🎤🎼
Sadly none of the 2' foundin' bro's were there... still it's a nice speach; their record quality, (& sale),
says it all..
About bloody time.
Beautiful music!
The major mention of Pick Withers and David Knopfler he missed.
Sultans of swing live 83-85 with a very long version with one of the most intense feeling-solo in music
Telegraph road epic version in concert
calling elvis with amazing impro in 1992
tunnel of love with an amazing guitar solo
Dire straits rule ! Most of the times Mark reached the perfection
all the best drummers played with this band: Omar Hakim, Pick Whiters, Terry Williams (the amazing), Jeff Porcaro rip and the fantastic Manu Katché
when i heard a stupid french not so famous guy who laughed at some bands-artists who were not really rock for him
i just say f ...off
Hace rato para mí diré straits.tenia qué estar ay .cómo otras bandas de los 80 o 90 qué se anidado..
The thumbs up is for the band.
Moje zdanie jest takie, że Knopfler poczuł się urasony, że jego grupa zostaje wprowadzona do RRHOF dopiero teraz zyli ze 25 lat za późno i nie chciał w tym uczestniczyć. Ds to Mark Knopfler. Koniec i kropka.
Muito LINDO. Obrigada. DEUS OS ABENÇOE sempre COM grandes vitórias.
Dire Straits é John Illsley!
i love the alchemy album and video 🙂
thankyou for sharing this..
MK thinks award shows and the RR HOF are garbage vanity showcases that he wants no part in.
@@adamjones5148 It's hard to disagree with that - but he should still have turned up to support his band IMHO.
He's right!! Stand your ground, his FANS are all that matters.@@adamjones5148
Classy Gent’s, great players
Great music that has always made me feel good. Thanks Lads
Terry Williams 🥁🥁
It's shameful that Mark didn't even bother to turn up. I know he turned his back on Dire Straits, but this takes it to another level.
PICK WITHERS! for God's sake! He made you world-class. Pick Withers is the greatest post-Ringo drummer besides Phil Collins. He is why people listened to Mark all over the world, not just local England.
There is nothing less rock than giving a shit about the hall of fame. Turns out Mark was the truest rocker of them all. Who knew.
I have formed a Dire Straits Tribute Band because of their music and the sheer musicianship construction of the songs . . . just brilliant.
As Levon Helm said, the Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame should be in Memphis, not Cleveland.
Huey Lewis disagrees with you
It's actually wrong that no one inducted them, and they basically had to do it for themselves.
Because they are very competant musicians .
Because RHOF are trash and MK knew he didn’t need their fake approval.
They should have brought Hank Marvin in from Australia to do the induction. Knopfler and Marvin…..both masters of the Red Strat….
This is a disgrace that this could happen to such a great, important and influential band.
They responsible to some of rock-and-roll's cla albums and songs.
Mark does not need this
People keep criticizing the Rock&RollHallOfFame, in all fairness I think they do a very good job; we're all biased because we're fans of certain bands and believe the moment of induction has something to do with recognition, each band has its own story that all of us ignore, there is no apple to apple comparison, this is no popularity pageant, let alone a race.
it is so pathetic that this audience had no great respect or admiration for this band, John Illsley had to tell them to stand up to show respect, and they were reluctant. I feel bad for John, but he had the guts to do that and I don't blame him. what a bunch of jerks these people in the audience are. Do you know who dire straits is in the Rock 'n roll music history ? something unprecedented and never something similar can show up again.
knopfler....
The answer to every question.
