This is a prime example of what Meat said...he didn't interpret a song...he WAS the song...every song he sang.

I feel as if a part of my youth died today with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades of memories.

The motorcycle sound was created by producer Todd rungren on the guitar. Meat and writer Jim Steinman were a phenomenal pair Jim’s lyrics were amazing and Meat had the passion to bring them to life

#MeatLoaf's musical legacy is unmatched... #MeatLoaf is, has been and will be a legend... The vocal range he had was unique... #MeatLoaf is and will be one in a million... The vocal range of three octaves made him unique in his performances on stage and in his videos... Rest in peace dear #MeatLoaf you will always live in our hearts.

Passion is the right word. I saw him perform live around a decade ago. He was in his 60s and way past his prime, but you would never have guessed that. He put his all out on that stage even then.

He was Spectacular especially in person ... I was lucky enough to see him twice in concert & he was in the local news quite a few times when I was growing up here in Connecticut... he was a little league coach here (when he lived in Connecticut) & did some great things... very down to earth

The entire Bat Out of Hell album is Jim Steinman's masterpiece and is one of the top 10 best selling albums of all time. He wrote it as a Rock Opera and it tells the story of a guy who dies in a motorcycle accident (the crash at the end of this song) and reflects on his life. Other great Meat Loaf songs to check out are 'Paradise By the Dashboard Light", "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad", "Objects in the Rear View Mirror" and "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth".

Meat Loaf was from Dallas, Texas ... after his mom died of cancer, his father (who was always abusive) came at him with a knife and tried to kill him. He left home and made his way to California. He was working in musical and theater productions before he got his first credited role in Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Working in theater productions is how he met Jim Steinman. Steinman did all the music and 95% of the lyrics for Meat Loaf. They were the other half of each other. Whatever issues they had over the years, when Jim was in the hospital at the beginning of Covid lockdown in 2020, it broke Meat Loaf's heart that he couldn't be in the hospital with Steinman. Instead, they talked through video calls. Then Steinman died. And now, Meat Loaf has passed away from other health issues that were further complicated by Covid.
