Finally someone not assuming that you want to make a $5000 per month business out of it and just want enough to feed your own family! Great presentation and just the right size for families! Thanks!
I just started growing sprouts and microgreens. Was surprised that your demo was using the same food prep containers that I also use... got them from Walmart. I don't drill holes but spray 2 times a day with filtered water and my medium is paper towels. I do cover them for 3 days in blackout, and use the lid on top to retain moisture, like a terrarium. I live in north Texas and so far, so good. I do the broccoli seeds for my own consumption, about 5 trays a week. Lots of fun and very little time and effort. Had some fails but lots of helpful TH-cam videos got me back on track. BTW, I don't use a weight or a lamp. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for a very clear and concise explanation. No frills, no fluff. And a Rock! I’ll be busy setting up micro green trays tomorrow 🎉 Gained a new subscriber 😊
Wow, perfect timing! I just suggested to my mom to start growing some microgreens in her kitchen; & you've shown an incredibly easy way to do just that! Thank you! 🙂
Thanks for sharing. My husband and i are planning on setting up a microgreens setup in the basement this winter and your videos have been a great tutorial on how we can get it going. thanks for sharing your experience and your work!
You're welcome. Glad my videos have been helpful. I'll be putting out more microgreen videos within the next few weeks. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Josh, this is a great video! It inspired me (living in an apartment, now) to grow pea microgreens, and now fenugreek. I have a LED lamp setup but fenugreek is also growing very well in a window. Many thanks!
bloke you are doing awsome work in hitting my 18th fruit tree on my block. when I think I have no more space one of your vids come up and inspiration is flooding out cheers bro.
Feeling amused! I've been researching ideas on the internet for microgreens today lol!!! Interesting that you don't put them somewhere dark for the first few days... I'm pleased though 'cos that's hassle and I'd forget them lol! Have some soaking for planting tomorrow! thank you Josh!
Yeah, and you can use a piece of cardboard with scotchtape sealing it from the water, to apply pressure even on the outside, because the outside seeds didn't get much if any pressure when the sprouts were growing.
Hey, Josh I really loved the video and wanted to get my feet wet in microgreens. I didn't want to spend too much upfront. Eventually, I would love to set up a microgreens business.
I have been sprouting for a few years, with jars... and then I discovered the drain pipe for peas method, to plant into the garden... instead of planting them, I am just munching away at them, above the lowest arms of each sprout, and they seem to keep growing. Now just to scale up, to make sure a daily dose is available each day... absolutely yummy :) Totally cool to see your racks there dude... when I have the space, one day :)
Happy to find this bc I’d like to grow micro greens and sprouts throughout the winter. I have a few of those containers with the plastic lids. I’ll put those to use.
Very great, seems the perfect solution for having freshly grown greens all winter!!! (maybe you could take the music volume down a bit ;-) I'm old) LOL
I grow cannabis as well as an outdoor produce garden but during the winter it's difficult to involve the kids in my daily chores. We are growing micro greens for our chickens and my kids are hooked. Thanks for the video!
Hi Josh, my name is Nada. I really enjoyed your video, you explained very clearly, all I need to do is do it my self. Thank you so much for sharing. Enjoy your day! -:)
"Don't worry, everyone knows General Tsao's chicken." LOL love the vids man! FYI, a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in the water will eliminate any potential fugal problems.
Josh love the video. I've been overcomplicating the process. Do you find any value in sanitizing the seeds or soil with hydrogen peroxide during soaking or planting? I would love to minimize the need to dilute small batches of food grade 30% hydrogen peroxide.
I skip the rock bit and seeds still germinate ok. I use clay balls as the grow medium. Much cleaner than compost or vermiculite and can be used over and over again. In the spring and summer no need for an electric lamp. Just grow on a windowsill and turn every day so the plants don't grow in one direction to the light.
I recently found your videos and am hooked!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your Awesome sense of humor, and making everything look so easy!! I do have a question. Are the seeds that floated after soaking still viable or should they be tossed? Thank You for all you do!!
Thank you for posting. I've watched many growing micro greens videos but no one ever says what is done with the soil after harvest. If someone doesn't have a garden outside what is done with the dirt? If it's reused. what is it amended with? How many times (seasons of seed sprouting) can be used before tossing out the soil (?) or adding nutriments? Also, when soaking in water can that water be used to water potted plants rather than tossed down the drain?
I grow my pea shoots using the similar tray without soil, rinsed them once a day,it grow so fast once they sprout. Wondering if it taste better growing in soil.
Finally someone not assuming that you want to make a $5000 per month business out of it and just want enough to feed your own family! Great presentation and just the right size for families! Thanks!
😂😂
I'll take 5k a month lol
🤣🤣🤣 thank you cause those other videos are bullshit lmao
Straight, affordable, common sense approach - thank you for a perfect, simplified overview
awesome video! my 3 year old and I watched this - she has declared that we need to find a rock first! thanks for the tips - Mary 🌺
Josh is s class act.
He's turned me into a obsessive micro green grower.
literally, hes he man, forget everyone youve heard of this is the guy 100
Exactly what I was looking for! Getting ready to harvest my first crop of sunflower microgreens from a to-go container. Worked perfectly!

I just grow them on the windowsill. No light or weight
Thank you! I started growing this winter for the first time. It helps with my seasonal depression to see, grow, and eat plants.
That’s what I’m hoping as well! Living in Montana the seasonal depression is bad and I love to grow!
Thank you for a very clear and concise explanation. No frills, no fluff. And a Rock! I’ll be busy setting up micro green trays tomorrow 🎉 Gained a new subscriber 😊
Just wanted to say you nailed the fun and easy part! I really enjoyed the simplicity and you have a great personality for videos.
Josh, you are an amazing inspiration. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you have been enjoying the videos. Thanks for watching!
Great video. No nonsense, just good info. Thanks for posting it.
I love those containers ;) We freeze all sorts of stuff in them because they stack nicely. Now a new use! Good idea
Wow, perfect timing! I just suggested to my mom to start growing some microgreens in her kitchen; & you've shown an incredibly easy way to do just that! Thank you! 🙂
You're welcome. Good luck!
Thanks!
Awesome! Have wanted to try micro greens and now I will.
Great video!! New to micro greens and didn’t know where to start on a budget! Thanks!!
I got peas, radish and broccoli. Thanks for the video. 🙂
Hot soldering iron would be good choice for punching holes..
L💚V it👍the no nonsence approach! It's CLEAR & SIMPLE & THRIFTY🌱🌱🌱👍👍👍💚💚💚and sure looks TASTY😁

Josh, this is a great video! It inspired me (living in an apartment, now) to grow pea microgreens, and now fenugreek. I have a LED lamp setup but fenugreek is also growing very well in a window. Many thanks!
Also, I'm using conventional peas and (organic) fenugreek seed, rather than "seed" stock -- both are working well.
what do you do with the soil with remaining root part after harvesting....how to reuse and regrow ?
...and a rock. You're gonna need a rock!.. Bahaha. I couldn't hold back a laugh. Great work! Keep it up.
Glad I got a laugh from that one. Thanks for watching!
He had me going til the rock! R those on eBay? R they coming from China??? Thanks for the video...growing nasturtiums first.,
I like the spinner you made in the back from the washer thats cool
bloke you are doing awsome work in hitting my 18th fruit tree on my block. when I think I have no more space one of your vids come up and inspiration is flooding out cheers bro.
Brother! You are doing great things out there. Great set up! Your videos are spot on.
Thank you. Glad you are enjoying the videos.
QUESTING - What is the chance of getting mold or bacteria in that tray?
And if so do you have to throw all out?
Feeling amused! I've been researching ideas on the internet for microgreens today lol!!! Interesting that you don't put them somewhere dark for the first few days... I'm pleased though 'cos that's hassle and I'd forget them lol! Have some soaking for planting tomorrow! thank you Josh!
They are just left out while they germinate. Just normal room light. I only add the lamp after they germinate and I take the top off.
Stack the trays and drill once !
Yeah, and you can use a piece of cardboard with scotchtape sealing it from the water, to apply pressure even on the outside, because the outside seeds didn't get much if any pressure when the sprouts were growing.

Great video, short and to the point. Thanks. We have been wanting to start this and did not know it was so simple.
You're welcome. Most things can be done simply.
Happy to find this bc I’d like to grow micro greens and sprouts throughout the winter.
I have a few of those containers with the plastic lids. I’ll put those to use.
THANK YOU! I have a ton of these already so no need to pay big bucks for big trays. You are awesome.
Very great, seems the perfect solution for having freshly grown greens all winter!!! (maybe you could take the music volume down a bit ;-) I'm old) LOL
That is so epic!!!! I’ve just started learning and messing with microgreens so I’m super stoked!
I grow cannabis as well as an outdoor produce garden but during the winter it's difficult to involve the kids in my daily chores. We are growing micro greens for our chickens and my kids are hooked. Thanks for the video!
What kompos for microgreen do you have?👍⭐
Hi Josh, my name is Nada. I really enjoyed your video, you explained very clearly, all I need to do is do it my self. Thank you so much for sharing. Enjoy your day! -:)
Do you keep the soil after each cutting? Turn the stems back into the soil?
Thank you, how would one grow this outside with an electric light?😊
Once you cut the greens, what do you do with the seeds. Compost?
Great video! You made it look so easy and simple. Thanks :)
"Don't worry, everyone knows General Tsao's chicken." LOL love the vids man! FYI, a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in the water will eliminate any potential fugal problems.
Pays to read the comments, I am just starting, did not know that. Thanks
Great information. Looks soooo simple! Thank you.
can you reuse the potting mix?
Thanks Josh! This was a great video! Very clear and relatable to a noob like me. Love your videos!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
i like the simplicity mode ty bro other vids made it seem like u need 10k to start lol
What do you do with the dirt and stems after you cut them? Can you reuse the dirt or is it a straight throw away and start from zero?
Great video Josh. I will definitely do that soon. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Glad you have been enjoying the videos.
Hi, thank you for the content! How many times can I harvest?
Josh love the video. I've been overcomplicating the process. Do you find any value in sanitizing the seeds or soil with hydrogen peroxide during soaking or planting? I would love to minimize the need to dilute small batches of food grade 30% hydrogen peroxide.
Love your projects! Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing!!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel Josh! New subscriber 🇨🇦 Thanks for sharing your tips and experience!
At the end of seed soaking, are the floating seeds garbage?
Thanks so much. It looks so easy and simple. I am excited to try
You're welcome. Yes, it is pretty simple. No need to over complicate it. Thanks for watching!

Loved this video!! Straightforward:)
Those seeds are HUGE!!!
don't understand the rock...will the rock damage the growing tips?
I recently found your videos and am hooked!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your Awesome sense of humor, and making everything look so easy!!
I do have a question. Are the seeds that floated after soaking still viable or should they be tossed? Thank You for all you do!!
Fantastic video thanks you I'm on the microgreens journey
That's awesome! Even I could do that. Thanks.
Does it take special seeds or just regular garden seeds?
Nice! I like that you get right to the point. I'm inspired.
I failed to sprout my wheat grains I used water only,I will try your way, thanks.
So once you cut them, you can’t keep regrowing them?
Can I grow these microgreens in a cool basement? I have my grow light setup in my basement and it doesn't get as warm as my house.
Thank you for posting. I've watched many growing micro greens videos but no one ever says what is done with the soil after harvest. Use clay balls instead of compost. Much easier and cleaner and they can be reused many times.
Amazing training !!!.liked it ....
Kind request to save some water :-)
Can we use solar lights for this ?
Thanks ..great work..
wow, this looks really easy! Thanks!
I grow my pea shoots using the similar tray without soil, rinsed them once a day,it grow so fast once they sprout. Wondering if it taste better growing in soil.
What do you use instead of soil?
I believe that the micro greens taste better based on the quality of the light vs growing medium.
Quick question: in the initial germination stage, do you need to keep the daylight on them? Or is the light only needed afterward?
what is a daylight lamp? is it a special bulb?
I love this video. Thanks for the easy information!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
So glad I found your channel. Keep up the great content😊Blessing to you!
Am I the only one cracking up every time he brings out the super soaker hose to water the thing 😂
just wondering ... what's the purpose of putting the plastic tray on top and weighing it down with a rock?
Great video! How do you keep microgreens fresh if you purchase at a market and it in soil?
Love your video and great happy attitude!
This was straight to the point and very informative
Super cool Josh
Do I need to water during those first three days
Can you do this without the lamp - just window light? Would you use the rock for radishes as well? So you don't water until day 3, is the correct?
can I always "top watering" pea microgreens and how much?
do you suggest reusing the soil if it won't grow anymore?
Sounds like a fun project!
That's a perfect task for children who got bunnies for Easter !
Like mini fodder.
Great use! I have (2) Rex rabbits and LOTS of Pea seeds:-)
Do we hv to give that light
Very short and informative video! Thanks
Is there a video explaining how the weight of rock helps with germination?
th-cam.com/video/dudA6Dwt5QY/w-d-xo.html
Can the soil be used repeatedly? Thank you in advace
What type of soil did you use?
Excellent video! Thanks.
@1:49 are those floating seeds ok to use?
How do you fight the mold?
Great video!
Question... while they are covered with the rock... you need to add watter?
What was the purpose of the top tray having holes?
Sir can you tell why artificial light and not sunlight?
I'm going to get a big pack of these aluminum trays that come with aluminum Lids they're pretty durable
