    As long as you were having fun, that's all that matters

    Time trials are very difficult things. You really have no idea what you are letting yourself in for, the first time you do one. Suddenly, you're confronted with a road on which you must cover a fixed distance at a pace you have to set for yourself. And you quickly realise, you haven't got a clue what you should be doing. Only experience really helps. So well done for trying, and I can say for sure, the more often you try, the faster you'll get. Sometimes, the improvements come out of nowhere, and can be minutes at a time.

    average heart rate 136? LOL, it was a below average effort, even for a tourist

      probably fatigued from other efforts, hence can't get HR up.

    I think many are missing the point of these vids whilst saying what should have or have not been done. this is Eurosport so, journalism and you have to expect commentary. I actually enjoy these and have done the hills and seen what would be considered better cyclist do a lot worse. people need to get a grip. of course he could have done the TT thing better but, its also fun to fly around courses without skin suits and spec bikes.

    Hasn't had Bradley given him the advice to change the position on the bar, for a better aerodynamic position?
    Why dont you start a little series for the future with average man and pro tipps to come stronger next year? Maybe some training tipps, technical advices, health, recovery, eating...

    You should really be in the drops for a TT. Reduce drag.

    Excellent effort young man

    He'd do a hell of a lot better with a lower position on the drops or at least bend his elbows to get down a bit

    If you can casually talk to the camera while you're riding, you're not going hard enough. Maybe getting into the drops or trying to get a little more aero would have helped a little too. Still, a brave effort with all things considered. Btw, why was he stopped on the road by security in the middle of the event?

    • @georgec2894
      @georgec2894 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      santiagobenites agreed! You could talk in the first few minutes but you wouldn’t want to do that as the effort will soon kick in anyway. Clip on bars and a little flexibility and you can take off 10 mins straight away.

    He keeps mentioning "people in better bikes". Listen, the guy that flew by you on a TT bike would still fly by you on the same bike you ride. Get your fitness in check and then get the better bike. Also at an average HR of 136 it means you really did not push yourself. When racing I average 175 BPM and I'm 45 years old. You should be averaging a much higher HR.

    • @nzrdb6
      @nzrdb6 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      At 45 you should be beyond putting people down and crowing about yourself

    I thought he was doing a recce ride of the course, didn’t realise he was going for it.

    You don't deserve to have the opportunity to do these videos if you aren't even going to push yourself into the slightest bit of pain...

    need to tuck in more- you could easily go faster than 48 on the descents without using much more energy if you got into a better position

    I would not have been surprised if "average man" stopped for a pint & a burger on the way. Perhaps the opportunity didn't present itself.

    I love the fact you even ride a average bike the Btwin is ridden by average middle aged riders. A tip from a 5.10 58kg climber is please try to relax yourself up the climb you look very stiff focus on your breathing.

    These experiments are only fun if the average man trains himself seriously for the event and uses all the professional gear available.

    When he was talking about how he had to brake through that roundabout, imagining what the pros would have to do, implying that they would have to brake hard. No, they wouldn't touch their brakes through that roundabout. lol
