Solid hints here! I'm gonna have to give that "edge image" live view a try. I personally got used to just pushing in to x10 focus and start recording. That it has become second nature to me and don't spend so much time. I used to use color peaking, but it was hard to macro adjust in critical focus points. Thanks again for the great tips!
You're welcome! Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I used to use a similar method for focusing with ML, but as I've gotten used to the "edge image" focus, I prefer it in many shooting situations.
Thank you for all the tips! I'm still trying to figure out focusing when I don't have an external monitor. The screen is so tough in daylight. I've only tinkered with some of the focus peaking settings
Yeah, it can be really tricky to see the screen outside. I've been trying to find ways to help me nail focus in those situations. I hope this helps you!
Another tip. If you don't need speedboosters and mainly use EF lenses, get the EOS 700D. Its so much more practical and functions the exact same way as the M, even better imo. Third party support tho... no cages, no camera specific gear for this one
Yeah, I've looked at getting a 700D. I agree if you're just shooting with the camera and already have some EF glass, it's a compelling purchase, especially having the flip out screen. But in terms of third party support for rigging and adapting lenses I think the EOS M wins with way more options.
Nice video! how did you change the focus while recording? I can do it with the half shutter before starting, but not after it records (1440p Crop Mood Danne build)
Hi bro I am a fan of yours from the Philippines. I recently bought an eos m and crop mood is installed.. everytime I change my settings whenever I turn on my camera again those settings that I recently changed does not save. How do you save your settings using crop mood?
Sorry to hear you're having that issue with it not saving the settings. Normally the camera defaults to the previous settings I shot with. I would try reinstalling Magic Lantern and see if that helps with the issue. Hope this helps!
Very late comment, but is it possible to enable tap on screen to focus when using autofocus to focus on something that is not in the center of my frame?
Currently there are only ML builds for the EOS M and the M2. The EOS M Magic Lantern build is the most robust with different recording options. With the EOS M you can use the crop mood build, which is one of the most stable builds for recording with ML. Hope this helps!
My eosm isn't recording. My SD card is a Sandisk Extreme Pro 64gb 200mbs. I've tried altering settings from recommended guides on forums but still no luck.
Always blown away by the quality of your lessons, the Crop Mood video is ML Magic ! ~Thanks So Much !!!

Thanks so much! Yeah, I just love the color of the red model.

thanks this was very helpful. :) love my old canon with magic lantern
Danne just did an update for Bilal’s crop mood build that allows auto focusing while shooting
I'll have to check that out!
Hello. Tell me why I have a lot of noise in the audio when recording video on a canon eos m?
Golden Nugget - thanks!!!
Really use full thanks man. Still getting crash with exposure any suggestions 😢
Would be nice if you could do a video on how you color grade your footage
I just posted a new video where I talk about how I color correct and grade my Magic Lantern images. th-cam.com/video/xpHwfmIAdEI/w-d-xo.html
great tutorial, do you have any tips or ideas on how to monitor the sound with ML? thanks

Hi can you also use auto focus thanks
Yes, if you're using an electronic lens in crop mood, there is some autofocus functionality and you can use this method.

Thank for the recent video! Do you know how to remove the focus pixels (pink dots) from displaying in liveview/recordings?
Very late comment, but is it possible to enable tap on screen to focus when using autofocus to focus on something that is not in the center of my frame?
I somehow can't open the focus peaking option menu when pressing the play button - any suggestions here? :)
Does the Magic Lantern works with all of the M series or just this one?

can magic lantern do autofocus? I can make it work on photography mode but not on video mode
Lmao focus was driving me nuts. I feel like a boomer trying to learn simple photography when I'm trying to figure out magic lantern.
