Apologies for the sloppy start - its unusual for him to roll around on his back for his first move so I wasn't quite in position to deflect a couple of his attacks - instead they narrowly miss. His 1st phase is tougher than the 2nd phase -very very difficult. It feels great to do this fight 'properly'.
Nice one. I am on NG+ right now and this boss is my favorite in the game. I swear this boss is the greatest video game boss of all time. When I was doing my first playthrough I didnt touch any spoilers and so I experienced the game without any idea what was coming and the first time you face this ape with no previous knowledge its just one of the most mind-blowing experiences ever. Truly one of the most brilliant bosses in any game ever.
@@MeesaBack Hahah honestly my jaw dropped. I was like feeling so elated the Ape was dead and that the game was nice enough to only make me do one deathblow. But then we all know what happened then. Bahahah
I think the 2nd phase might be harder for you in this fight first time around. It’s just when it comes to no hitting the 1st phase definitely seems a lot more unpredictable.
First of all, subbed to your channel and I'm gonna check out some content of yours. :) So... the 2nd phase is much easier to get into some sort of rhythm or loop as if you're always perfect deflecting then he's always baited into certain moves such as the sword slam after two deflects of the sword. With the 1st phase... yeah if you think you're deflecting and are taking damage - I get that. He's a tough tough guy and there's plenty of times where I thought I deflected but then got posture broken and died. He's very random in phase 1 - its so so tough.
@@MeesaBack thanks man! I mean, yeah I get most of that. I can beat most of the bosses on NG+7. I guess I mean with bell demon and no kuro charm even when I deflect I take damage. Probbably I just need better timing
@@MisterNoah usually if you get the rings its a deflect but not always. This might be where you’re taking damage sometimes. When you say you take massive amounts of chip damage when you deflect - you don’t mean when you hold block or anything like that do you? Every attack has to be a perfect deflect unfortunately.

The 2nd phase must have been quite a shock for you. And yeah it feels immensely satisfying to get him.

Nicely done..I'll probably fight him like this in my regular game since prosthetics and consumables scare me.

how do you keep from taking chip damage without kuro charm and bell demon?
