It's sad to see this beautiful, current ball go, but I'm excited to see the next one. But I'm also slightly worried it won't be as cool as the current ball...
@Gr8Incarnate I'm mad these people make a upper middle class wage for telling stories yet cannot even tell stories right. Meanwhile millions of us rot while working 5x as hard.
“Digitally Interactive”, so basically a spherical screen so Kia or other brands can place their logo on the ball? How tacky, it’s just to make more money of selling ads as if New Years and Christmas wasn’t commercialized enough
That sucks. The ball is gonna be gone. That ball was my childhood every time when I watch the newsy ball drop, but hopefully the new one will be as good as the old one. I can’t wait to watch the ball drop. That’s the main reason why I watch the New Year’s Eve celebration
My first new year was in 2011 (im 14 rn) so im really going to grow up watching these years go by huh? Im just thinking about how in 2030 somewhere in some time period ill be like “man this was ___ ago i cant believe it…”
How many different balls have they had throughout the ball drop's history and did they save any of the previous ones to display in a museum or something?
RIP 🪦 to this ball you put it an awesome run as a new one comes in year you also get to bittersweet retire with it after all that hard work of bringing in every one since the year 1904 before my time on this earth thank you let’s see what will stay the same in 2025 and what will bittersweet change;)
I didn't care for this ball design as much as previous years. I liked the one before and after the apple. The apple was ok, just not as radiant as the others.
Things get old and eventually need to be replaced. It's not like they've been using the same ball since the first drop in 1904, this one is the 7th one.
Hopefully the new crystals will have more sophisticated technology as other countries do every year not as Tine Square same old same old Drop boring ball just with the count down emotion passing to the next year 🤏🏻🤨🥂
Iconic? 😂 Maybe 30 years go but time's changed. These people are too excited over an oversized metal ball and clearly have never seen how other countries around the world celebrate NYE properly lol
@justmejenny7986 Maybe follow your own advice before trying to sound smart. Some glorified metal frame is literally not iconic anywhere outside the bubble that is new york
Since 2020, New years suck ngl. Every time my family will watch it since 2020, the news will show two men kissing which I do not want to see and it ruins the nice, lovely mood.
God, the idea of it being a digital ball sucks. We put far too much into making things all digital when they have far less personality and care put into them than analog tech. Why bother designing all the panels and making them unique every year when you can just cover it in a bunch of digital screens though I suppose is the mindset.
Its obvious how the next one will look. A sphere with LEDs that will show live cam and ads until the countdown begins. So unoriginal all of America can already see it. Lame people design stuff now.
Ignorance is blitzed meaning of old ang syne (zion) wake up where on the streets you from? Silverlake is the equivalent of Brooklyn JCC up on los Feliz half a block from bukowski house
Gosh as I get older it seems the years go by fast
This is all a figment of your imagination. Time is just timeless.
I don’t want to get older too for me it’s sad I want time to just slow down:(
@@SnarAphid I’m going to be 32 I want to be 21 again:(
They certainly do.
This decade has flown by! 2019 felt longer than last 5 years combined.
Oh so it will be replaced by one that can show ads.
Lol Hi Josh!
Heyo Josh! Hope Mi-ke is doing well!
Also, probably lol
YOOO! hello. glad Mi-Ke is doing good

Thank you, made a whole thing about it and couldn’t even tell us the age, who makes these scripts?
So was the "big apple" simply a bulb change on the 3rd ball?
I never realized there where different balls 😂
Comment was more insightful than the report.

Nooo! I don't want to see it retire.🥺
It's part of the tradition. They've had 7 balls since the first drop in 1904.
Me too! This took me by surprise, I can't believe....
Dude they meant that the new ball design will be replaced it doesn’t mean that the ball drop will be removed
Unfortunately it won't last forever 😔 we're going to miss that iconic ball of 2000
Leave well enuff alone

@ :50 The singer "Pit BALL??" I guess the reporter got too excited waiting for the BULL to drop!
At least the closed captioning got it right.
Fun fact: they replace a few of the crystal panels every year so the ball has several years of designs on it.
Wow, time sure does fly.
Let’s enjoy today and this minute it’s the 28th we still have Saturday and Sunday to enjoy 2024;)
Are all of you professional journalists regarded? HOW OLD IS THE BALL WHICH IS RETIRING. THATS THE QUESTION PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW
You're really bored aren't you?
Age is just a number.

Mmmmmmmm okay?! Wait, what??😊
Like it's the only thing that should come out of their mouths. How many estimated people have watched THAT ball, how many nye's...etc. I mean come on.
I reckon the next one will be a mini Las Vegas sphere.
“Digitally Interactive”, so basically a spherical screen so Kia or other brands can place their logo on the ball? How tacky, it’s just to make more money of selling ads as if New Years and Christmas wasn’t commercialized enough
How will be the 2026 ball drop be then?
@@jamestropicals8262 Don’t rush it let’s get through 2025 first cause I know it will go just as fast:(

@@jamestropicals8262 Thank you it’s obvious just a different ball and the old one gets stored for nostalgia;)
I am asking the same question.
Lol so the ball will essentially be a bunch of tablets playing random stuff as the ball drops
why everything needs to be digitalized???
*Rest in peace to the crystal ball.*

The next ball is going to be oversimplified…
"digitally interactive" means it's going to be used as another brand billboard
Man time is really flying! I swear man as the years go by!
what ball is it going to be for 2025?
When was this specific ball’s first appearance?
2008-2009
December 31st 2008
@NigelBrown-it4pwOnly 2008? I was thinking 2000 or something.
How come a crystal ball gets to retire more easily than most Americans
I’m going to miss you

It's not a smart board, it's the damn New Year's Eve ball. Don't reinvent the wheel.
A great celebration, amazing how fancy this ball is now, and even more so with the new one.
Here is one we can’t look at tomorrow we have to be thankful that we are here today may God Bless anyone who reads this I send nothing but love ❤️:)
All these other countries have extravagant New Year's Eve set offs and celebration. What does America have? An LED ball drop😂
At least it will be stored as an American artifact.
I do not like how fast time is going I want to stop it 😢
great, so it can be replaced by a digital paneled ball that short circuits when it rains
The singer, Pit-Ball 😂
Im pretty sure this version of the ball was made in 2007 or mid 1990s
Its first year was 2008-2009. 2024-2025 will be it's final year. That's sad. I really like this ball.

Also the reality is when something gets old it really isn’t safe anymore it’s time to retire also so no one gets hurt:)
Bring back the old one with the spinning glass triangle crystals on it! Put new lighting inside thats all

No more ball? 😢 why are they doing this to us. New years won’t be the same after this.
No? It's getting replaced by a new ball, just like how the soon-to-be retired ball replaced the older ball back in the late 2000s.
Replacing the old ball makes sense, but replacing it with glorified digital billboards is a horrible idea!
