I remember when he replaced Brent Musburger on the NFL TODAY show back in 1990!!! Terry Bradshaw also became the new NFL Studio Analyst teaming up with GUMBEL in 1990!!!
As someone who's not into sports but working with lots of VIPs at events let me just say that Greg Gumbel was the class act.. compared to the brother I should say. That sounded horrible I know but, let me just say there was absolutely no ego amok in the man. Truly a gentleman. R.I.P, condolences to family and friends.
Greg Gumbel knew all of the sports, he grew up as a huge White Sox Fan in Chicago, he did play by play for NBA games, NFL games etc. He was one of the best broadcasters that I have ever listened to. I would put him right up there with the greats.
One of the most versatile broadcasters to ever do it. Every second Sunday in March meant one thing, and that was to hear Greg announce the seedings and pairings for the NCAA Tournament. Considering how he covered so many sports, and yet he said on a few podcasts how "fortunate" he was just to be included in such a hectic industry that is being on sports television. He will be missed.
As a boy, I wanted to become a sports broadcaster in part because of Greg Gumbel. He was the first one I saw as an African American lead, a national sports broadcast period you will never be forgotten to me. Thank you Mr.Gumbel. Enjoy your rest and the heavens above period.
That was a terrible game, but Greg got a real good one a few years later when he called the Panthers vs Patriots game. And that had the Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake halftime too!😂Greg Gumbel always was a class act. He called that great Ravens vs Broncos playoff game in 2012, and he also called Justin Tuckers record 66-yard kick, that was a great call too.
Gosh Lesley Visser seriously needs to lay off the plastic surgery and Botox. She needs to accept that she's an older woman now, and not young eye candy anymore. She ruined her once pretty face trying to stay in the game. But RIP Greg Gumble you will be greatly missed.
RIP Greg Gumbel. You were a Great Part of CBS Sports
Greg Gumbel was the NFL on CBS. Thanks Greg for all the memories. I picture John Madden & Pat Summerall waiting for him at the gate.

Very sad news. God bless the Gumbel family. Greg Gumbel was a class act and excellent broadcaster.

Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorff was the best combination.
I grew up listening to them. All the greats are dying. I can't believe that Bret Musburger was still announcing games just two years ago.

I always liked him when CBS covered the Winter Olympics. He had way more CLASS than his brother!
He called the NFL for way longer than two decades. Closer to four decades.

That Ravens-Giants Super Bowl was an embarrassment.
It was one of the worst Super Bowls ever. Greg Gumbel made the most of his part, though… he was the ultimate professional.

We all gotta go ‼️
When was he diagnosed?
Ask Fauchj
They said late 2023 and that is what kept him off the 2024 March Madness coverage.
@@darrinthurston3308 if my memory is correct they said a family illness I don't think they were talking about him though
@@BobbyMeans383 I thought so too but Greg didn't want it to be about people worrying about him. I suspected it was his health issue.

You are sooooo right she looks like a ghost 👎
Any relation to Bryant?
Bryant's older brother
@@nortorioustxc4359weird they didn’t even mention Bryan Gumble
2:01 At least they showed the photo of the two together. RIP
3:06 Magic paid tribute.
4:11 And finally Lesley mentioned him herself.
Who will be the new host 2025 March Madness selection show
I assume it will be Ernie Johnson or Adam Zucker.
Same as 2024 Ernie did the Slection show with Adam Zucker doing the split coverage.
RIP
🎉🎉❤😇
Her veneers are serious 😅
she might have the worst webcam in modern history, how is that even possible
CLASSIC JET GAMES
they only thing sad about gumbel's death is that he took his tumor with him.
Can't rule out the espn mandate
Mr gerg gumbel is march madness
Welcome 2025😢
The lady needs to fix her hair.
Yikes.... scary looking woman Visser... very scare looking
She's old.
Unfortunately Gumbel (Who made hundreds of millions of dollars) was of the 'I'm a victim' mentality
Well he did obey the espn mandate so ....turbo time
This dude look like a black Sean Hannity. Are they related?
I thought he looked like Ernie from Sesame Street.
Not a sad say for all, I'm not happy or sad, I just could care less, lets not assume everyone's sad
Hold the negative comments real talk don’t be a lame ……
I'm not sad 😁
@@YAH-1Go away then
How nice to see that your Compassion Bypass Surgery was a complete success! GTHOH!
