I'm crying with you. People just don't understand how painful it is until they suffer the loss. When mine burnt to the ground I sat on my truck bed for hours, crying in the pouring rain. I kept closing my eyes and thinking "If I just close them one more time - when I open them it will be back to normal." I'm so glad to hear of all the support ! ! -KJ
Kim did a great job! She found the fire extinguisher and used it, which can’t be easy in the “heat” of battle. Make sure your builder puts you in a custom wine rack and all the things you wish you had in the old house. Glad the Kinfolk crew is safe.

I do understand the out pouring of community, our home burned down when our oldest was only months old. It literally jerks your heart from your chest. We were blessed that No one was hurt, nothing other than our hearts anyway. We were crushed. We were so overly blessed with an abundance of donations following the fire we ended up re-donating to Life Core, a local organization that gives back to those in need. Blessings above blessings from the out pouring of our community. You never understand the importance of neighbors and community until tragedy happens. Prayers for swift recovery and building of h💞me.

We had wondered about several things you covered: guest house, additional assistance (friends, neighbors, churches), how you’re truly handling everything, etc. totally okay to cry about it and it’s awesome you are being open and honest about the situation. OMG I just this morning saw this about the fire! I have been so wrapped up in taking care of Marshall who has been so very sick. I am in shock about your misfortune, and so very sorry for your loss. My Daughter lost her home due to a fire and it sure can wreak havoc on your emotions. It's a coping mechanism when you cry. Sometimes we all need a good cry and this surely is one of those times. I'll be glad to being the RV up there for you guys to use for a bit. It's 30' long and very livable. I wouldnt want to live in it more than a week but at least you'd be in your place. Im like you. Things can be horrible and I'll keep smiling and joking. It doesn't mean I'm not devestated, it's just how I deal with things.

I'm coming across this video late, clearly. I'm so sorry for the loss of your home and all the memories within. I'm so happy your wife was safe. Please don't feel badly for having emotions. It's completely understandable. I get it. When my daughter was 5yo, 18 years ago now, we lived in an apartment style condo. It was December 9 and we were sitting down for supper before having neighbours over for a glass of pre-Christmas cheer. My daughter was sat with her back to our dining room wall, which was directly next to our neighbour's living room wall. All of a sudden, I heard this weird roaring sound and BOOM. My dining room wall split open, the painting I had on that wall fell and pinned my 5yo to the table. Little did I realize at that moment that it could have saved her from severe injury. Within seconds, flames were shooting through our dining room and we had moments to get out of there. We are in Canada so in December, it is cold. We grabbed our boots & coats and I grabbed my purse and the cordless phone. Yup... this was before every Tom, Dick and Harry had cell phones. Had I been thinking, I should have realized that our phone wouldn't work outside where we wound up, haha. Anyways, we pulled the fire drill, banged on all of the neighbours doors we could see and took off out the other end of the building. Fortunately, our suite was directly next to the midway part of the hallway so there was a fire door. We ensured it was closed and banged on doors as we took off down the hall to outside. By the time we got outside - maybe 1.5 minutes post-explosion - our living room curtains were on fire. This building was 4 storeys high with each suite being 2 storeys. We were on the lower level, so our living room was actually on the "upper level" of our suite with the bedrooms below. Had this happened even a few hours later, my daughter would have been downstairs and I would have been hard pressed to get down there, get her and get out of our suite. It was later determined it was arson. I guess I can thank the creep who started it (it's never been solved) that he did it at supper time and not any later in the evening. Regardless, as you can imagine we lost everything. Everything but those few things I grabbed as we left that evening. My daughter said it best that night though. "Mommy, what about our clothes?" My reply, "I'll go to the store and get us new clothes". "But what about our beds?" Me: "I'll buy us new beds sweetheart". "What about my Care Bears?" Me: "Don't worry about them honey. we'll buy new ones". This went on with as many things as she could think of until at last she said "So you mean that the only thing we can't buy again at a store is you and me?" From the mouths of babes. The rebuilding process is hard, especially when you are still in the clean up stage. We were never allowed into our home again. In fact, you could look into our dining room and living room from the parking lot since they had to pull the face of it off to get to the blaze. The chair I rocked my baby in, our melted TV, etc. BUT, within a couple of years I found myself going thru things I could part with because we a) didn't use it anymore, b) didn't need it, c) was in the way. I remember that moment and thinking to myself "wow, how quickly we accumulate 'stuff' " Hang in there. My experience was also that the insurance came thru quickly. By noon the next day, I had a cheque for $5,000 to get the things we needed to get thru until the rest of it was reimbursed (for contents). Turns out I was under-insured... apparently most folks are because we don't update the value of our contents as often as we should... but we had enough to get what we needed. At that point, I was willing to clip coupons for the rest of my life if I needed to. The day after, a girlfriend of mine showed up at my folks' house and took me to Walmart. What would you think would be the very first necessity I grabbed? Yup, a few Care Bears followed by toothbrushes, hairbrushes, pony tail elastics, undies and a few changes of clothes, I wish you all the best during this tough time. No need to feel like you can't be upset. It'd be more odd if you didn't at this point of things! Hang in there and know that you have many, many people keeping you in their thoughts and I know I'm not alone when I say that you will be in my prayers. Heather🇨🇦
