- Umar Khalid, the JNU student who had been jailed on false charges under the draconian sedition law returned to the JNU campus on 18 March 2016 following the grant of six months' interim bail to him and Anirban Bhattacharya by the Patiala House court in Delhi. This is the full speech that he gave at the administrative block in JNU, now popularly known as 'Freedom Square'.

I wasn't caring about JNU or never interested in politics. I used to believe JNU was not a university that I would like to go ever.
But After seeing current situation in India I feel i was late in understanding leaders like Umar Khalid and Kanhaiya Kumar and what they were saying all along and I never supported them. These leaders are need of the hour for India and I stand with JNU. I wish I could be part of JNU.
