My husband found a huge roll of thin copper at a yard sale, and I've been cutting and embossing ever since. That was over 10 years ago. I'm getting really low, so I will be using our aluminum cans next. You are doing an amazing job with this. If you ever get any thin copper, try the same thing, then put it in Miracle gro plant fertilizer Mixed with water and beautiful verdigris will gather in the nooks and crannies, creating beautiful works of art. I love this video.❤❤❤
Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing that amazing information with me. I have some wide self adhesive copper tape that I’ve never used. I am excited to try your technique with miracle grow!
Hello, Aluminum doesn't rust, so you would be waiting a long time for rust to show up. Rust is oxidized iron. Thanks for sharing your process though! Lots of good ideas, ❤
You’re very welcome! Glad you liked it. Oh, I know the aluminum doesn’t rust but I was hoping when I placed it in the rust it might stick to it, as in color it. The same way I dye papers with rust. To my disappointment it just slid off, it wouldn’t stick to it at all 😊
@@Saacibo Yes, this is why airplanes are made from aluminum, so they don't rust and because no metal sticks to it, making airplanes aerodynamic. I do think aluminum patinas, but it's a white crusty film that isn't very interesting and hard to see..
Beautiful charms. Thank you. I tried long time ago a similar idea I dont have all these colours, but i found that if you heat the aluminium or burn it over the flame of the stove carefully the silver colour of the can will become gold then will turn bronze with all its grades . I liked the result
The tops from sour cream dig foods or any of the aluminum sheet type tops can be used doing this. I made several from the aldi dog food tubs. I love how they all turned out.
@@SaaciboBuenas tardes acabo de ver las cosas maravillosas que haces, podrías decirme como sr llama la máquina que utilizas, desde ya muchas gracias. ❤❤
This week this is a second revolution in the world I love to escape to. The first one was in yesterday’s video of Treasure Books channel (backing up magazine images with no glue, project 12). In this video the material and creations made of it are both extraordinary. I am afraid to cut myself and aluminum cans do not enter my house (and if they do, in my province in Canada we bring them to the bottle depot to get the deposit money back). But still, super interesting. I wonder if I can do something similar with several layers of heavy-duty foil I use in my cooking… Need to try that.
Unfortunately, cutting up the cans is a bit of a risk. A few people mentioned in the comments that they like to cut aluminum trays, the ones that are used for baking. I haven’t tried with those, yet. Aluminum foil is thin but perhaps gluing it first to card stock and then cutting might work. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment. I appreciate it very much ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful ideas with all of us, I will certainly have a go with some aluminium. What you make are so lovely and I would not have thought to put it thru my Sizzix so thank you for that.
You said to wear gloves, but you aren’t. Not a good example. I was just waiting for you to cut yourself. I’m not saying that to be mean only that it scared me. I will definitely wear gloves because I want to try this. And you are the queen of charms.
Wow! I did not know there was such a machine. I'm getting one for myself and granddaughter. I love recycling aluminum cans and making junk journals. Thank You for sharing. You are a awesome!
I started cutting up cans like this a few months ago when I realized how thin the walls of Pellegrino Essenza cans are. I found that if you rip off the key on top (so it doesn’t get in the way) you can use an Oxo type can opener on the side edge of the top to get the top off. Then I just use a utility shears (or pruning scissors) to cut down the side and then work around the bottom to get that off. It is a whole lot less dangerous than using a craft knife.
Didn't you find that the objects you cut with the dyes had sort of a rolled edge? Other videos I have watched about using dies with aluminum can sheets mention that.
I had no idea you could make embellishments from aluminum cans. WOW! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and Upcycling with us. I will definitely give this a try. You now have another new subscriber.

Just amazing! Believe it or not I have been saving aluminum cans that I flattened, but I had no idea what to do with them. Thanks for the awesome idea! ❤😊
Great ideas. Years ago when I started doing this, the cans were thicker. Since they're thinner now, I put wax paper between the dies and the can, which helps the die cuts come out easier and with less damage.
I'm soooooo happy you made this video! I haven't even watched it all yet, but I was so ecstatic when I saw what it was about 😊 I am the same about worrying about getting cut. I have been trying this for awhile now, and decided I better stop before I cut myself, as I'm pretty accident prone lol your projects are beautiful! Thank you
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you like it! Oh, I am accident prone, too. Especially if I get too immersed into my work. I have to stay grounded when I work with metal, and that is so hard sometimes. It’s the same as being very sleepy but wanting to stay awake 😊❤️
So awesome, although I used my Sizzix to emboss the cans before, never thought to use the dies to cut them, am excited to give it a try, thanks D for another great tutorial!! 💜💜💜
Aluminum doesn't "rust" like Steel, or Iron. Which is corrosive, and eats away at the metal., until it is broken/eaten away. Instead, Aluminum, forms "Aluminum Oxide' a whiteish coating. It actually PROTECTS the aluminum from damage. It has to be removed to paint it properly, otherwise it isn't a problem..like Iron and Steel "rust" is.
You know I ha e watched this video 4 different times and every single time I see and learn something new. I don’t remember if i commented before, i must have. But watching again just had to say thank u for sharing ur amazing talent.❤❤❤
Too easily and safely cut your can, use a tin snip or wire cutter and make a slit in the drink opening, down to the shoulder of the can. Now insert a pair of scissors, into the slit and cut around, until top is off. Once top is off, take scissors and cut down the side to bottom, cut around bottom of can until it’s off. No utility knife or jagged edges. Aluminum is still sharp, of course so use caution.
I just stumbled upon your channel and found this very interesting and well explained. I liked how calm and thorough you were! I can’t wait to check out your other videos! I’ve also liked and subscribed! Thank you for sharing.

I’m surprised the needle doesn’t break or immediately get dull. But I plan to try the technique because it looks really nice with the stitching you’ve done. Thanks for sharing these ideas.
Thank you so much for watching! I use heavy duty needles that are meant for sewing jeans and thick materials. I keep one for the cans separate in case it gets dull. 😊
All are awesome! i love how the inks on the anchor make it look like an ocean relic. btw, aluminum won't rust, it will just oxidize to a dingy whitish gray...
Thank you so much! I suspected it wouldn’t rust but I guess I was hoping it might become colored in the same way like paper does. To my disappointment, nothing happened. Rust just fell off. Luckily, inks work well 😀❤️
@@Saacibo Lol, yes the ink is great! Just wanted to save you the time of trying to make it rust. So clever of you to run the bookmark through your machine to press the glue into it. I never would have thought of it! Coukd I use pastries paper on top or must it be cloth?
I used cloth to collect extra glue that might seep. Also, my cutting plates are full of scratches and I didn’t want them transferring to the bookmark. Perhaps paper would do. 😊

Question one: What type of needle did you use in sewing machine? Question two: What setting’s is your machine at? Question three: What damage can this do to my sewing machine?

an easier way to cut open the can is to use a can opener on the top of the can ( nice clean cut) then cut from top to bottom with scissors following a straight line down to shaped bottom of the can , cut around the bottom of the straight side cut around the bottom of the can . Ta Da! any lines that are not perfectly straight can then be trimmed to straight lines . What a clever idea to use these cans. I love your inventive experiments 😇 And it's funny what an impulse this idea came from... to sharpen the Sizzix 😁😂🫶 So cool 🧡 All the results are beautiful as well!

Wow thank you for such an interesting & fun video, there's a lot to learn here, fun crafting for sure, but what are those holder pins called, I thought that you said either bulk or bulb pins, I looked both of them up to no avail, so could you let me know what those pins are called, I'd like to get some of those, ok, thanks.

Alcohol inks didn’t rub off. Water based or acrylic inks might rub off. 😊
Aluminum won't rust naturally. Metals like paper clips, wire, safety pins etc will rust.

Thank you! ❤️
What do you do with all your charms etc.. that you create? I can’t believe you use all of the items you make.
I mainly use them to decorate junk journals I make. I plan to use some in mixed media artworks that I am working on at the moment 😊
Awesome project tutorial. Thanks so much for the fantastic tips❤❤
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it 😊❤️
I love this idea, the potential is endless.
Did you put the pin in your E6000 or did it come that way?
Glad you liked it. The pin was already there and I was very glad about that. It’s actually F6000 and I was told that it works well on metal 😊
Can you tell me where you found the small puzzle die? These are lovely.
I got it several years ago from AliExpress. I checked my order history and unfortunately they don’t have it anymore. I found another one that would cut similar size puzzle pieces but there would be more of them. Here’s the link s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EJudea5
#Replay I’m wondering if we could use a disposable aluminum cookie sheet as well.
Great idea! I’ll definitely try. Thank you ❤️
Hello! So I am anxious to try this but I've been really curious... have you found that cutting aluminum hurts your dies? did it SHARPEN them? Holy moly what a bonus if that's true!
I didn’t affect my dies any more than card stock did. I find that cutting fabric hurts them more than anything else. 😊
@@Saacibo Thanks so much!!
thank you for the vidéo where can i buy this machine What is called
You’re welcome! The machine is called Sizzix Big Shoot. I think it’s available on Amazon 😊
What an incredible idea. I love them. Thank you.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 😊❤️
Aluminum has a low melting point. If you sand off all the paint you can melt it down and pour it in a mold
Thank you for the great tip. I was also thinking of using hot iron to melt the edges. Wonder if it would work 🤔
Already paused your video to dig out cans from the recycle bin...😂 and you just finished showing how to open out the cans.
Your work is beautiful.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it 😊❤️
Very interesting the way you did these
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching ❤️
Wow! This was so inspiring! They are all so beautiful
Thank you so much! 😊❤️
Amazing! 🤩😍
What kind of needle do you use to sew them?
I use heavy duty needle for sewing jeans and thick materials 😊
I found a mini cutting machine like this on Amazon. Nice art 😊
Awesome! Thank you! ❤️
What is the name of the pressing machine you use and the metal dies.
It’s called Sizzix Big Shot. I left a link in the description of this video 😊
What a clever idea to use these cans. I love your inventive experiments 😇 And it's funny what an impulse this idea came from... to sharpen the Sizzix 😁😂🫶 So cool 🧡 All the results are beautiful as well!
Thank you so much Steffi! ❤️❤️❤️ Oh, the things we come up when we just play and experiment 😆😆😆. Just go with the flow- that’s my new motto. I wonder how much more abuse my sizzix machine can take from me. I don’t think I tried cutting wood with it, yet 😂😂😂
Hahaha... Wood 😂for sure 😂 probably she says "it was very nice with you, but now I have to go" 😂😂😂
Wow ! Quelle bonne idée ! Et j'ai déjà tout cela sous la main. Merci beaucoup de la partager.
Oh, the star Christmas ornament is lovely! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much! 😊❤️

Alguien me puede confirmar si eso es una troqueladora, porfa?
Yes. It is Sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine 😊
Great project ! Love these beauties. And I would also wear ears protections 😂 Ow... That sound when you cut the can... 😝😖
Thanks so much for sharing your talent and ideas 👌🏻
Thank you❤️ Oh, I hated that sound, too. It made my teeth hurt 😆
Weirdly I'm the exact opposite, I'm loving the sounds 😂❤
This is so clever! I never thought I would be able to run an aluminum can through my machine!
Thank you so much for watching ❤️😊
Hace años,más de 16 yo hacía lo mismo,así con la sixzzi y latas.
That’s great! I’ve had Sizzix for 5 years and it became my number one piece of equipment for crafts. Love it! 😊
Thanks for sharing, love this project
You are so welcome! Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching 😊❤️
I have been doing up cycling for a few year and I remember when started doing this with all the Pepsi cans I had all over. It can be sharpe so I just run around the edges with some sandpaper as well to help with the sharpness. ❤
Great idea using sandpaper. Cans can be very sharp and should be handled with care 😊❤️
ASMR charm 😊
Very cool and clever! Love it! TYFS❤
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 😊❤️

This is a brilliant idea, and well executed! I love it! Thank you!
You're so welcome! Glad you liked it 😊❤️
What amazingly gorgeous things you have made! I couldn't afford a Sizzix so bought a mini die cutting machine from Temu, that works beautifully. Got a lot of aluminum cans as well. Guess what I'll be playing with today, thanks to you! Yes, I'll try to be very careful, thank you. 😁
You’re very welcome! Glad you liked the video. Any die cutting machine would do, doesn’t have to be Sizzix. Hope you have lots of fun creating 😊❤️
I Have just bought a mini from TEMU as WELL! Have you started cutting aluminum yet? I am wondering...does it dull the dies? have you done this a lot?
Wow thank you for such an interesting & fun video, there's a lot to learn here, fun crafting for sure, but what are those holder pins called, I thought that you said either bulk or bulb pins, I looked both of them up to no avail, so could you let me know what those pins are called, I'd like to get some of those, ok, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it. Pins are called bulb pins or gourd pins. 😊
@@Saacibo OH, thank you for this info.
Was du doch für wundervolle Ideen hast. Alles sieht super aus. Das mache ich mir auch 😊
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment 😊❤️
I have some disposable roasting trays I used for coffee dying paper in but no longer need. I just cut them up a few days ago to use with embossing folders... charms are def top of my list now!!! TFS 😊
You’re very welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video! Aluminum roasting trays are great for this, too.
Thanks so much for watching ❤️
Such a great video! I have almost all these same dies... I know what I will be doing tonight... binge watching more videos..and then I get to make some on my craft-cation next week! Thanks so much for sharing- new subscriber!
Hello and welcome to the channel! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for watching and subscribing 😊❤️
Hello have you been cutting aluminum with your dies? Do your dies hold up? I've been wondering if it will dull the dies quickly. thanks!
Stencils too.
