Speaking of DPS disasters, the most memorable one of my time back in WotLK was when my friend was being out-DPS'd by the healer in a 5-man. To this day I still make fun of him for it. Same basic stuff was said as in this video... An AFK auto attacker should have higher DPS than that, I've seen lvl 40's do better, etc.
These stories are so good at showing how being taken advantage by toxic people is your own fault. It's your responsibility to judge people appropriately and not trust them until they deserve your trust.
I once got kicked just before the last boss of a Mythic dungeon (+7) because the lead noticed I was running Machine gun instead of Breath build. I've felt that anti-Frost Dk classism.
I remember back in the middle days of Cata when they put in the instant level 80 character option for those new to the game. Running normal 5 mans was almost impossible... I remember one group that had a shadow priest that did 800 dps... at level 82. Soak that beautiful statistic in.
I remember telling a mage in our guild that she should strafe instead of backpedal when kiting the adds on Heroic Saurfang. She goes "I'm not that hardcore." I blew up on her, asking why she's in a progression guild if she's not that hard core. I ended up getting reprimanded for that by our GM. She did decent DPS, her boyfriend was a great healer, so we had to keep her in raid.
I actually play in a "friends guild". Im not a RL friend of any of them. But we go AOTC every raid tier. I dont really see any issue with it. Infact, its a "friends and family" guild.
Bryst only prob is when real life events interfere with the game. It's also much harder to call out your fiance on being terrible than someone you have never and will never meet.
lol, that JK attempt story reminded me of my paladin in TBC. I was the best healer they had in raid, and I always showed up. At one point in a bunch of guild frustration we agreed to let me raid as Ret. They tried so hard to blame things on me .. things that were not my job anymore, lol. Not healing, not cleansing, etc.. I had to keep reminding them I wasn't on healing duty that night. They just didn't get it, despite it all being explained before the raid started. The other dps hated that I was there not healing, eyeballing their loot. They even went out of their way to make sure the healers didn't heal me so Id either die or spend my time healing myself instead of dpsing. Didn't matter though, I was doing amazing. Our first Gruul kill I was second on the charts, barely behind a fully geared rogue while I was still in half blues. Spent my DKP on some dps gear, to much groaning behind the scenes im sure, and we went on to Serpentshrine. I was doing alright there, even got healed in some of the fights, but the raid wasn't doing well at all that night in there; they really needed people on the ball and the healers were just struggling all night. So we called it after a couple different attempted bosses. And then I got asked to go back to healing, saying I wasn't working out. I showed them the parses, I was not only keeping my own but my buffs were bringing others up as well compared to previous nights. They wouldn't accept it, I had to go back. I told them no, they're being ridiculous ( without me pointing out the petty dps scheming behind me ). The guild imploded within the week, the other healers could no longer be that terrible and carried with my absence, they were throwing a fit with some infighting. The dps obviously were holding the line, I had all the cards and nothing to actually be blamed for, and the guild leader had finally had enough with leading .. something we all saw happening over the last month. Nobody was willing to compromise, shape up, or get over it. That was that. They'd all rather see it burn at this point.

Regarding gearscore, I hate how the game has gone to where item level is virtually the only thing that matters. It was more fun in Vanilla and TBC when gear was so varied as to be interesting.
