  • When I was Active Military even I was confused about the TIER system. I have not idea what it meant or how it made a difference in the military. Have you ever been confused about who is the best of the best in the Military branches and which was the highest military tier inside of them? Who the best special operations forces are, who is better than the navy seals, delta force, army rangers and the other warriors out there?! We answer your questions here and explain the differences between each military tier! Hope you learn something new!!

Great video, currently serving as a sapper in the Australian Defence Force and theres definitely a big difference in terms of the amount of specialised units. Especially when it comes to the rank structure, always a laugh to see our US Army counterparts react to a LCPL leading a fireteam primarily or a section in the absence of a CPL! Though I think the US Marines would be similar in respect to NCO responsibilities.

I think it's worth mentioning that 99.9% of people think that Special Forces refers to all of tiers 1 & 2, if not all 3. Most people don't know it's specifically the "green berets", and that SOCOM and JSOC has a lot of different units - Special Forces is just one particular one. Special forces is not a generic term, at least in the US military.

Not only are they capable in combat operations, but their best skill is integrating and advising foreign infantry units/rebels in unconventional warfare. That’s why Ukraines military is so lethal in the conflict with Russia. They were trained by the Special Forces since 2015. You can see their training coming in handy.

My cousin was in the army his whole life went in out of highschool cause he got in trouble and stayed till they made him retire he climbed all the way up the ranks to Sgt Major and still too this day he's 75 been retired for years I always see him get respect from vets and active servicemen even more so then higher ranking officers I asked him why and he said basically it's cause Sgt Major is earned on the field and Lt and above is earned in a class room. I don't know how true it is but from what I see it must have some truth to it.

Didn’t take him long to end up in DEVGRU. Of course this isn’t the norm but the exception . Really should watch his episode on the Shawn Ryan podcast. Holy shit this dude is incredible

As a civilian, let me see if I got this straight:
Tier 3: The dudes and dudettes that kill people and break stuff with their support staff. AKA THE Military.
Tier 2: Specialized dudes that kill or capture or rescue or break stuff behind enemy lines with better equipment and training.
Tier 1: Very specialized dudes that kill or capture or rescue or steal or break stuff right under enemy noses with the best equipment and training. In the case of ISA, the scary monster in a target's closet.

I really hate the teem tier 3 because it’s really vague and harder to define
Really only tier 1 and 2 actually matter as their a great way to group the actual SOF dudes
Tier 2 can be anything form entry level SF Operators to hardened Rangers, seals and PJ’s
While tier 1 are the (Constantly defined by this phrase, by literally everybody) crème de la crème
DEVGRU, RRC, Air forces little mixed group, CIA official tier 1 guys And “Delta Bois”
They even have some CIA Guys that aren’t “Officially” listed as tier 1
    But come the fuck on
We both know the CIA doesn’t recruit tier 1/2 veterans guys to run the coffee machines
They recruit them to run the printers
    Think rationally man!

When the Raiders stood up in ‘06, they took guys from Recon/Force communities and put them through a variation of the SF Q-Course because the Army was whining. The course still resembles it (along with A&S) but with Marine flair. Those of us that were “Special Operations-Capable” back before there was a MARSOC just say that “we were MARSOC before there was MARSOC”…Semper Fi. Great videos BTW, keep us supplied with crayons and there’s NOTHING we won’t do!

I would say an easy comparison for a civilian is like tier 3 is kinda like a lower level pro sports athlete.
Like...NBA G-league. Definitely pro, better than any normal guy.
Tier 2 is like the NBA. More exclusive, better funding.
And tier 1 is like...the All Stars of the NBA. Lebron, KD, Steph, etc. The absolute best of the best.

    • @nikkoortiz
