The problem with colored patch cables is that you first spend your time trying to remember what the colors mean. I have found that in the time it takes to do that, you can trace one end to the other. I suppose some people who use a single modular or semi-modular tend to remember color scheme over time. I just don't, because I tend to accept whatever patch cords I've acquired with the synth!
Mark is it possible to create Hoover type sounds and that of dance tracks like 'the dominator' from the 90's???? Been trying with my ims20 but no joy unfortunately.....
you have the last sony headphone ? my mdr is very good for the detail, did exist a difference when you have two cable (right & left), ? always a pleasure.........how many people learn with your video and after buy it !!!!!!!!
Actually resonance is not always necessarily the enemy of phat. If you use the high pass filter at about 3-4 and crank the resonance up to about 7 - 8 while setting the lp filter to 6 and its resonance to 8 you get a tight focused bass, when you set the oscillators to 32 and 16 foot sawtooth waves.
as soon as I heard M say it, I went to comment/open discussion regarding resonance being the enemy of fatness...Because I use res to give my sub bass patches extra body..When you have the filter cutoff barely open, it's true absolutely: It will give you THE MOST out of sub bass...But with the filter more open, the squawking scream can kill the feel. But, man...for ultimate fat, I think the cutoff being somewhere in the midrange with a little hike in peak, on a stable sine on OSC 1 paired with a slightly detuned square on OSC 2 and modulating both the pitch and pulse-width slowly and ever-so-slightly makes the most hypnotizing and sexy bass sound...oh, man...it's juicy...I've made several versions of this sound on my BassStation 2 and Ultranova. I am waiting on my MS 20 mini to arrive and I can't wait to try it with the MS20 filters and see what happens.
Ian Goold Ah, a fellow user of the magnificent Bass Station 2 :) The BS 2 is a lot different from the MS 20, because on the latter you have two resonant filters wired in series, wehereas on the BS you only have one filter at a time. The bass station is more similar to a moogLP or sub phatty in that respec, or- if you use the acid filter- a Roland 303
totally. I love just about every synth I get my hands on. I can't wait to get my MS20 mini. I'm really looking forward to playing with the two filters. I do love my BS2 though. such a fun machine
how know before buy a analog-synth, wich going well with another, what details , because on another channel, is said ...trigger the mini ms 20 and minibrute and little sub patthy, and have got the same answer about the mini MS20
I was looking for an affordable synthesizer and then I saw this series of videos in a row. Now I'm convinced I was looking for this beauty.
Finally a MS-20 mini demo by somebody who can play and program it. Looked already at a few vids sounding horrible. Thanks for sharing!
You, Sir are a wizard. I'm really looking forward to getting mine when the preorders come out.

Hey, thanks for watching, and for your comment!
The second patch was totaly crazy!! There are MS20 patch sheets that could make it easier for us mortals to see what is going on.
Question: Are you doing a patch panel tutorial in this series too? Or do we just look back at your old MS-20 review?
Thanks, Joe... we definitely have to get together upon my return to England.
There were two camera mics, and I was delighted by the effect that was caused by one of the audio tracks being slightly out-of-sync.
Hey mark thank you for the informative video series . One question... Will the cv on the ms20 mini play nicely with my voyager xl

lead word for you... Chorus and extreme settings
Hey Marc, what do you think about the Korg Volca Keys, Bass, and Beats grooveboxes that were unveiled at Musikmesse 2013?
I would love to see the LFO! Curious to see how fast it goes. Thanks for the vids!
Thanks Marc.Just bought one!
I think they are VERY cool... and hopefully, I'll be able to clarify that viewpoint in video...
Thanks for your great videos! I wish patch cables were colorful - it was much easier to follow the setup.:))
I hope you're gonna do reviews on each of the new korg volcas.

Yeah, but you'll be looking for a good while still..some retailers claim it will arrive in april, others say august or even later.
and on Moog filter synths, resonance is the enemy of bass.
Aw, was hoping they carried the LFO over from the Monotron. I love that thing!

No, I'm afraid not... it is Hz per Volt, and the Voyager is Volt per Octave

It's worth it!
Awesome!
The Sub Phatty and the MiniBrute are volt per octave... this is hertz per volt!
I hope so, too.
2 of the 4 official Korg retailers here in Madrid (Spain) have existences... So its no problem.
resonance is the enemy of fat, i completely agree :)
In this video Marc Doty gives his take on the Feast and Fast diet.
It is not an audio-range LFO.
I WILL FIND YOU
.... and I love these headphones... (ADHD dood) he he he
It's Sony, but which model?
@@mpingo91 it was hard to read in the video but I think it's the MDR-V100
@@pixelucy Indeed they are. Practically all the time the markings are out of focus, but yes, it's the MDR-V100. Thanks!
