Hooking up a Haier Washer to a Bathroom Sink and Bathtub

  • Shows me hooking up my Haier HLP23E Electronic 1-1/2-Cubic-Foot Touch Pulsator Top-Loading Portable Washing Machine. It is large enough to fit a decent sized load, yet small enough to fit most closets and other tight spaces. The machine has paid for itself many times over in laundry room and laundromat costs - $2.50 per load in my building!

    God Bless YOU!! If it was not for your video showing how to start the washer going by the hook up and procedure, I'd still be banging my head against the wall wondering how the bloody hell to start the water flowing! I know it sounds crazy, but I seriously could NOT understand why the heck the water was not going into the basin. Nothing was happening until I saw you start the machine, set the water levels and BAM! Out came the water! Thank you thank you! And you are the ONLY one who explains it out of all of the TH-cam videos! Wow. You are an angel!

    Many thanks for this - I was very glad to find your video as I was trying to set up the washer today. Thanks to you, I've done a load of wash; threw the 'Downy Ball' in (with vinegar and conditioner) as fabric softener, and the first wash is done! I ended up standing in the bathroom throughout the entire process, just to monitor it and to satisfy my curiosity!

    I have the same bathroom layout here. The apartment complex added W/D connections and I use those now. However, when I had the washer in the bathroom I had a PVC drain pipe that I used from the top of the sink that sloped down into the back of the tub. With that setup I could still use the toilet (lol) while washing clothes. I had the washer sit on the left side of the sink and of course used the sink tap for water but then had the PVC (1.5 inch) pipe sloped from the top of the sink into the back of the tub. I had it situated so the hose would not easily come out of the pipe on its own. It worked great for 2.5 years.

    Other very early toilets that used flowing water to remove the waste are found at Skara Brae in Orkney, Scotland, which was occupied from about 3100 BC until 2500 BC. Some of the houses there have a drain running directly beneath them, and some of these had a cubicle over the drain.

And i stuff the washer because i want my moneys worth but i also know that wears the clothes out and they don't always get clean properly. Doesn't seem to be too much of a problem as long as I'm lucky and can snag the only front loading washer in the laundry room lol i bought the collapsible portable manatee clothes dryer as well. I never ever ever EVER thought I'd say this.... But i cant wait to start doing laundry this Wednesday! Lol i have probably 7 loads right now (family of 5 lol). Yeah.... @annwithaplan9766 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have one (model with clear lid) and it works great. I haven't had a problem with stretching, I THINK because the barrel is small. The larger the barrel, the more space the clothes have to stretch when spinning. When removing the clothes, sheets, etc., I just shake them as I pull them out. If you have things with straps, best to put them in a mesh zippered bag.

    Can u control how it drains? Is there an and off button to the drain? Stop flow? Some people live in an apartment that the pipes are small and tends to overflow to their nextdoor neigbors sinks, bath tubs, kitchen sinks. Etc. Thinking of getting one for my MOM since this COVID CRISIS. however maybe risking getting kicked out of her apartment. If they found out she owned one... HMMN.. the Dilemna🤔🤔💭💭... Any tips out there?

    • @CanadaBedbugs
      @CanadaBedbugs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why I had it empty into my bathtub - very little chance of overflow. There is a pause button to stop the draining action and I also lived in a building with similar rules and it was never an issue. You can barely hear it once the bathroom door is closed and I loved not having to use the communal washers/dryers during the peak of Covid

      Just put a plastic tub usually used for babies and small children as the top cover, so while spinning it wont splash water around. For the drum take a big plastic bucket, make a sheet of paper with symmetric holes in a row and just use it as a template for drilling. Then make some sort of a holder for the drum and attach a pulley to the drum. Then take a drive belt of some sort, connect it to the motor and shield the motor so that it doesnt get wet. Then just get some sort of a programmer that you can set to tumble at different directions and speeds and just attach it to the motor and youve got yourself a washing machine. Also, make sure its easy to disassemble ;)

    Placing the drain hose higher than the water level in the machine seems counter-intuitive. Anyone know why this is necessary? The only space I have available is on my patio. With the reduced water volume, wouldn't it be feasible to allow it to drain into garden beds which aren't otherwise used?

    • @annwithaplan9766
      @annwithaplan9766 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      have to raise the "out" hose higher because the machine doesn't have a stopper to keep the water in. I'm guessing that ALL wash machines are like that, which is why the "out" hoses are hooked behind the machine at a higher level. Hope that makes sense. Yep, you can drop the hose down during the cycle when it's getting rid of the water and let it go into the garden if you have a way to do that.

    • @cindyjeffrey2874
      @cindyjeffrey2874 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grannieannie F It's en enclosed patio. So, I've been told that much water could get under the foundation and cause leveling problems (sink holes?). Also I was told there is a city/county ordinance against dumping "grey" water.
      The solution I came up with was to have (2) tall receptacles on stools, which permits the hose to be in a higher position and when one is full, I manually switch the hose to the other.
      One load fills 2.5 receptacles which I then pour down the toilet.
      It's an arduous system, especially since I can't go to far to do other things and have to keep an eye on the cycle. But it's better than the community laundry (yuck!).

      cindy jeffrey Hmm ok. I suppose if you used a natural detergent that was good for the soil then it would be ok to run it into the garden. Otherwise you're just dumping soapy water, which might not be good for the ground. Yeah, at least what you have is better than nothing anyway.

      You could probably use a bucket to catch the water

      Yes! Similar to a dishwasher - the machine knows when to draw water and when to stop the flow. I just turn it on and ignore it until the beeps tell me my load is complete. Super easy

      Canada Bedbug have you had any issues with pipes bursting? The apartment I live in has old pipes and i worry about causing some damage by leaving the faucet on.

      +Jon Jonson Amazon has a few different brands of portable washers on their site...do a search there and you can check around on Google and other store websites too to compare prices for what you want.

    That sucks how small your bathroom is, not your fault of course just saying if you have to pee or poo and the machine is going must really bite. I would hook it up in your kitchen instead because of the bathroom size.

      +Matias Sebastian Learn to take a hint, everybody obviously thinks your comment was stupid and irrelevant. And being arrogant about it certainly does you no favors. Next time at least pretend to lie that you're trolling or joking, then at least people won't be so easily convinced a human brain can contain such a great amount of stupid.

    • @smukase
      @smukase 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Matias Sebastian You're just generalizing and assuming things based on your own upbringing or your own environment, you're the one that needs to get out more and meet different people. You're insisting on staying in your little box that the government has built for you, acting like a robot programmed with society's expectations of men and women.
      Yes it's true that on an instincual and biological level, men and women have many differences and we need to respect them and be proud of them. But apart from that we are all capable of doing what the opposite sex can do, just as "some" men are exquisite nurturers, lovers and peacekeepers, "some" women are exquisite engineers, leaders and warriors. And that's just me simplifying things for you, the roles are much more extensive than that.
      But society molds us with the idea that everyone has to remain in their designated role so that production can function accordingly like a perfect little beehive, and our self-proclaimed leaders are the ones that get to harvest all the fruits of that labor and in turn provide the "illusion" of wellbeing. At least the queen of a hive is useful to its subjects, the elite criminals in our governments are a detriment to society.
      Anywho the problem with trying to mimick a hive is that human beings are not bees and were never meant to act like bees, rather to learn what we can from all life on this planet and incorporate it in our own lives. We don't do well in such oppressive circumstances because they inhibit spiritual and intellectual growth, which is what we're all about. We need both freedom and limits at the same time, not one or the other yet so far it looks like we're still leaning towards the latter with people like you who carry on this torch of bigotry throughout history. You are just acting like a good little slave for the powers that be.
      Let men and women decide for themselves which roles in life they want to take on because they all have strength and pride. It's people like you that instill shame and disappointment in others for no reason whatsoever other than bitterness and probably disappointment with your own miserable lives. I mean who are you to feel that people should answer to you, did you create humanity, are you at least a king to a great nation or something? Humble your half-witted, arrogant self sir.
