For the integrated triple screen mount from Trak Racer for the TR8 Pro, turn the entire unit around and mount it backwards to what the instructions say, this will move all the monitors towards you. I don't know who designed it, but seems to me everyone knows you need the monitors as close to the back of the DD as you can get it. I just flipped the left and right sides, then found the two mounting spots that would work best for using the Moza R9 base. If you are not sure what I mean send me a message.
Just got this wheel and after about 1.5 hours I had everything set up! Wait that's a typo 15 hours. that's about right. Spent most of Saturday assembling the frame, then most of Sunday getting my still in the box wheel, pedals, shifter, and ultrawide monitor mounted.
I looked at these when I was in recently rig shopping. I was very close to buying but in the end I went with a GT Omega ART. The reason being that as ART is made of box section its easier to add additional DIY mounts etc. It was a close run choice and I’m sure I’d have been just as happy with the TR8. Great video as well Rene, even sneaking a bit of Pokémon in there. 👍🏻
I purchased a Trak Racer TR8 Pro and it did NOT take 1.5 hours to setup. It took 4 hours due to having to use little allen tools to put together which is a joke. Also the instructions downloaded in pdf format from the website was a bit convoluted to say the least. After it was put together this rig is solid, heavy and very durable. I would highly recommend it. Only downfall for me is that the seat can only get so close to your force feedback wheel and pedals. I'd like to sit closer if possible, but the seat is forward as close as it can go and I still feel like it should go another click forward. Also when you purchase the triple monitor stand for the TR8 Pro they set back a bit to far IMO. The triple monitor stand attaches to the actual TR8 Pro rig so you cannot move the monitors closer than was is defaulted or designed. Otherwise system is amazing!
I just built this rig. It was far from easy. Took me five hours. One bolt just would not align and is sort of half jammed into its hole. Other parts required enormous physical effort to align. I almost gave up. The engineering dept at Trak Racer could do with some improvement. Looks super good, though, and I mounted my new Sprints on there and they look amazing. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow.
@@nxm_bops bullshit. I got this cheap Chinese crap too. build quality is appalling. manual not necessarily correct if you bought a TRX seat you would need to reverse brackets. seat is wider than mounting points. you would need to install brakets first and then push it in. but even if you put is in the highest position it would be to low ...
Good to hear, I just ordered the TR8 Pro the other day for my new racing sim with a DD1 and excited to see it's a good rig cause I was searching for a while on the one to buy
Good video, I've the TR8 Pro (coming in few weeks - first one was faulty, they are obviously changing it whole, completely free of charge). Wrong title tho: the TR8 is the old version, different one from the TR8 Pro. May cause confusion. Anyway, going to have the Trak Racer Rally seat (less rigid than the GT one), mount a Simagic Alpha Mini servo (directly screwed to the base, no side brackets) and TLC-M pedals, awaiting for Simagic P2000 100KG pedals to be again in stock in my country.
Not quite my experience. A few pre-drilled holes didn’t align so I had to leave some bolts out, even when you loosely bolt everything until all parts are connected. Also the left two bolts for the handbrake mount were so tight I couldn’t get them out. The mount is now connected with only two bolts, leaving it very very wobbly, almost useless. Especially when I play mostly WRC. Also the wheel mount cannot be lowered enough, leaving it way too high. I can raise the seat a bit more, but that’s not intended for the reclining seat I have. Oh, and I also bought the keyboard and mouse holder that connects to the rig. Interesting to experience the mouse and keyboard flying through the air after a few corners as a dd wheel sends strong vibrations through the entire rig. So, yes it’s insanely heavy, looks good, but is a far cry from german quality engineering. Spend a lot of money on an inferior chinese made product with apparently non-existing quality control. Can’t recommend it at all.
How does this frame work with shorter people? I'm 5'6" (168cm) and want to make sure the wheel won't be mounted too high. I love the look of this frame when compared to the extrusion frames, but I worry about the wheel height since the baseplate cannot be adjusted.
The wheelbase can be mounted on different height-levels. My partner tried it and she is 168cm as well and it worked for her (together with a Fanatec DD2 wheelbase). I even mounted it at the highest position as I am taller. So you should be able to get it in the right position I would say. Hope that helps! - Rene
Hello! Do you remember or can you try, approx how tall the smallest person you recommend is? Is it suitable for my 140cm child? The Trak racer wrote that it is suitable from120cm, but I'm afraid only because of the sale.
Nice review and I was happy to hear that you ordered the integrated triple stand. How far away is the screen with that integrated solution compared to the free standing one? And was there any wiggle in the screens with the integrated solution? Thanks for your help!
Setting one of these up for the last few hours. Scratches straight out the box, the two sections of the frame wouldn't fit together without sanding one of the "poles" and now I'm stuck with the wheel mount as it's no where near wide enough to screw in to both sides. I was hoping this vid would show me how :(
I had the same issue with TR8 pro. Lots of problems aligning it together. After a good struggle for hours I put it together. My steering mount came completely upside down and I had to remove it n put it back to in. Lots of issues like that on my rig. But now it’s all set with CSL DD bundle. I need to adjust the pedals a bit but mostly no flex at all. Instructions could be better in my opinion.
My packages all arrived fine, except two. This was entirely UPSs fault though because of handling the parcels wrong and destroying them in the process. Nevertheless, TrakRacer took care of everything on the spot. Great Service.
I just received the boxes* for my TR8 Pro. Gotta say so far I am not 100% impressed. I call total BS on the 90min build... For the unit I received, the Chinese manufacturing partner installed the steering wheel sliders upside down and used the wrong screws. I had to disassemble both sliders and install them correctly. Next when l went to remove the screws to attach the wheel mount platform to the sliders, I discovered that none of the included hex keys fit the screw heads. Fortunately, I have my own tools and was able to find one that fit. But then the next issue came up... Using the provided washer and lock washer, I wasn't able to get the screws to thread into the holes. When I compared the provided screws with the screws show in the instructions, I discovered that the provided screws were only about 12mm vs the 16mm that they are supposed to be. Once I removed the lock washer, I was able to thread each of the screws into the wheel sliders. Onto the last item... the single monitor stand. When attaching the mounting plate to the frame piece, the provided screws are barely long enough to thread into the nuts. The provided screws do appear to match the length in the instructions, so this is down to poor engineering on the part of Trak Racer. I'll have to go out and acquire some properly sized screws. Lastly, one of the frame pieces arrived with a nasty scrape in the paint and metal. Granted this last item is cosmetic, but seriously. For this amount of money, I expected something much better than this. I hadn't signed up for a DIY project to fix shoddy craftsmanship. And finally, so my order was shipped as 5 items. That's ok, but the 5th box was shipped using a different shipper than the other 4 boxes. So as of right now, I am just looking at assembled rig and unable to use it while I wait for the final package which will hopefully contain the seat mounts, because the seat mounts that came with the main boxes were for the Rally/GT seat and I ordered the reclining seat. Granted it's a solid frame, but seriously there is way too much DIY to fix the mistakes. I'd give this maybe 3 stars out of 5, and that's being generous. I haven't even gotten into inconvenience of the pedal base adjustment. Update: Just realized I hadn't attached the monitor stand yet. Again, another issue on the part of Trak Racer. The directions are wrong. They show mounting the stand to the adapter plate with just 4 screws. I guess no one bothered to validate this because the screws are longer than the monitor stand base and the adapter plate combined, which leaves you with a stand where the screws are as far as they can go, but the stand wobbles around. Fortunately (?), the Trak Racer monitor stand comes with 8 washers, so I had to stack 2 washers per screw for the stand to mount correctly. Hopefully, those washers aren't meant to be used somewhere else. We'll see...
I don’t know what to say here, I had exact same issues as this guy. It looks like we both got it from this one supplier and the screws, washer, parts were all wrong. I had issues with screws, monitor stand, seat brackets for recliners etc. it took me hours to put it together. Monitor stand’s screws inside was broke. I had to replace it. The total alignment was messed up. Lots of DIY to fix the issues. Honestly wasn’t impressed a bit with how no one noticed it at trak racer or fixed the issues.

Looking at a TR8, so keep that in mind:
