How much sand in the carburetor? - Scooter Rescue - Roughhouse 50

  • This Roughhouse 50 was sitting in a shed on a farm, a bit unloved, and was let go for cheap. I've brought it home and decided it could use a rescue and would make a fun project.
After living many years of it's life in Florida, I still could not believe the sand we found in the carburetor. I hoped we could reuse the original carb, but with that much sand, its time for a new unit.
Join me for these videos as I go through and try to bring this neglected scooter back to life.

As a person who has bought many little scooters online, Ive never ran across one that hasnt had carb issues, clogged jet, stuck float, missing gasket

Hey cool... I rescued a 2015 RH last November.... $600, she ran, but not very well and definitely not fast with me on it. She had been and "outside dog" for a few years, but I could see her potential... I went a little overboard (according to my wife) bringing her up to snuff but I have had a blast and learned a ton, attempting to make a hot rod scooter...Can't wait to watch your journey...

Just curious where you got the new carburetor?

I have a 2022 roughhouse I bought last year. It’s been running slowly lately. I suspect the carburetor. There’s visible dust residue on the bottom of the scooter body, I live in a dirt road. Think a clean carb will fix it?

Check your air filter, if you are riding on dusty roads that can get dirty pretty quick

@@freewayRode I rode it today and parked it and went swimming. On the way back it was a lot cooler outside. It ran normal again. I’m in hawaii. Still gonna check out that stuff.

Where do you get your parts at?

I get most of my parts from Scooterworks, they are a great team. I also shop EBay and some of the Facebook groups.
