- Join me this week as I take advantage of some brief light in between Storm Dudley and storm Eunice here in the UK, for a sea and coastal photo walk.
Armed with a Nikon D750, I travel to Dunraven Bay in Wales to rekindle the seascape photography passion, while battling strong winds.
I have my fingers crossed for some better weather in the upcoming weeks and some more amazing days out along the coastlines of the UK. Thank you for watching this video! If you did enjoy it, let me know in the comment section down below!

Always good to just get out and shoot some non-result oriented photography. Sometimes there's a surprise. 👍 🥂
Absolutely. No pressure to come away with anything but rather enjoy being outside and exploring new places. Have a great week!
Defeat?? this?? I'd say it's a total win! an interesting location, lots of very good photos that you successfully took before the storm!
Lovely video Courtney. I like your honest views and am enjoying your channel and photography journey...in some ways you remind me of myself and the journey I'm on 😅 Looking forward to seeing more!
Beautiful images, Courtney! Thanks so much for sharing. Be well
Thank you so much! Hope you're well too!
Sometimes, simple photography is the nicest.
My neck of the woods. I visit this beach regularly. Great photos 👌
Awesome location. Love the photos you took
Thank you Martin for watching! It's a beautiful place! Definitely worth exploring.
Thank you for another informative video
Thank you for watching Joe! Have a great week!
Nice vid, Courtney. I find that a pair of wellies / gum boots / rubber boots make shooting on the coast much more enjoyable since you don't have to worry so much about your boots filling with water. I've seen you wearing them in other videos. Bring them with you next time. 🙂
I really enjoyed this and what a location you got some fabulous shots. I think ill be checking that place out after seeing this too so thanks for that.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Peter, and thanks for watching! It's a fantastic place. There are some coastal walks as well that look very interesting. I didn't get to follow the trail for long but I know there was another bay not too far away that I wish I could have explored too. I suppose that is for another day! Have a great week.
Enjoyabvle watch at one of my "go to" coastal locations. Lovely opening image at 0:24 and all in all your got some very decent images. I particularly liked the sand pattern shots, something I have had a go at in the past but never got anything worthwhile. I used to go to Dunraven quite a lot when I worked nearby in Port Talbot - if there looked lkike a decent sunset I would go before heading home to the valleys. I had a little walk on the Thursday in between storms to Grwyne Fawr Reservoir in the Blacks - mind since Eunice has passed through I think as I sit her (Sunday teatime) we must be on to anoither as all day the win n rain have battered the house - I notice one of the trees out the back of the house has gone over too. If you have not tried Nash Point along the coast I would recommend that too, great rock formations for you to play with there. Just one point, noticed b roll of you changing lenses on the beach - think I would have been hunkering down in your bag to do that (bugger the broll) as the sand can be a bad thing to get into your camera - especially in those winds. I did originally want to walk the coastal path towards Monknash bay but ran out of time before the weather turned. I did briefly spot Nash Point on the map but hadn't looked into it. I'll definitely check that out sometime! Oooh that is a good point with the changing lens broll ha! I had multiple cloths in my pockets that day because the sea spray was really something! oh no, that's a shame a tree at the back of the house went over. Hope otherwise everything is good where you are. These winds are really something this week, it seems to be storm after storm. Thanks for watching!

Hello Victotia.
I am French, excuse my English from an automatic translation. I discovered you and was immediately captivated by your vlog and your highly researched photos. I wanted to congratulate you and encourage you to make us dream again and again with your subjects which emanate such sensitivity. Congratulations for your excellent work and your sharing.
Some very strong images! I chuckled at you struggling to get the L-Bracket mounted into the tripod head. I seem to often have that same problem, no idea why! Cheers!
I'm glad it's not just me haha! Occasionally it takes me a moment to get it to click in, but it really wasn't having it that time! Thanks for watching and have a great week!
You are quickly becoming one of my favourite landscape photographers. Henry Turner is another and with both of you, it's as much because of your energy and spirit as it is your wonderful pictures. Keep up the great work!
I'm just catching up with some comments so this is a little late, but thank you so much! You're very kind. I really enjoy Henry Turner's energy! He's got a wonderful, positive mindset that is very inspiring!
@@CourtneyVictoria I've followed Henry Turner for a few years now, and been inspired by much of his work. I do worry that he's trying to become Thomas Heaton though, as a lot of his stuff is now very similar in content. I've only just discovered your channel, Courtney, and I'm finding it very refreshing - well done!
Well done Courtney. You were wind swept, swamped and you still managed to get out a great vlog and capture some beautiful images. Good on you for having the determination to stick with it 👍🙏
Thanks Adrian! I was very grateful for the small gap in between the weather to try and do some photography! Have a great week.
The images you got here are outstanding - they have an impressionistic, almost dreamlike quality about them that is very different than, but just as impressive as, your usual explorations of forests and woodlands.
Smashing video
Great photos and live this series. I don’t know but I’d use them in a portfolio. ❤️
Loved it we normally stop at Ogmore - but we will carry on now - like the way with ease you do the video
Hey Courtney, I’ve recently discovered your channel and loving it. Really like the seascape shots.
D750 My favorite camera of all time.
That is a great location. I enjoy going to the ocean, Pacific Ocean, on the north coast in Washington State USA. Watching storms come in is a lot of fun but I have learned the hard way you need a spotter to warn about rogue waves.
Fantastic video Courtney! I can totally see how someone could spend hours exploring the different textures of the coast! Gosh darn the tide and wind cut your day short. But so glad your camera gear was out of harms way!
Good video and pics , the tide nearly had you lol
Stunning location Courtney, I could spend days there, some very nice images and a location to check out again for sure, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching John! I could have spent a lot longer there and really wanted to walk the coastal paths too. I was just grateful to get out in between the storms even for a few hours. Definitely a place to explore again.
Oh gosh the struggle with the L bracket. Sometimes I have trouble screwing on filters! With screw threads, sometimes it's tricky to find the right groove. Great compositions by the way - especially the first image. Good choice of camera height too on that one.
Wow, that tide really came in fast! Some lovely images, but it looks like you got out of there at the right time. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring to start 😂
Lovely location and glad to see you out between those storms. Such some footage and that weather was wild, to say the least! (Lucky your gear didn’t take a dip!!) I really loved your image “Calm” and I’m a big fan of abstracts in the sand too! Very enjoyable video, hope you’re well.
I'm glad I was keeping an eye on that water so my gear didn't take a dip ha! A photographers nightmare, our gear floating out to sea. Thanks for watching! Hope your well too.
Love the walk-through near the end of this, as I've never experienced what look to be century old homes before. Great shots as always Courtney, and I'm amazed at how strong the winds can become in short order! Definitely a gorgeous location, thanks for sharing!
Excellent. Thank you so much.
Lovely photos. I've never been that far south in Wales, only Pembrokeshire as the parents live over there.
Thanks again Courtney for sharing your experience... great location and images...I live near the sea so understand your love for these landscapes... cheers from Australia 😀
Excellent vlog and thanks for sharing. Seems that i am not the only person to struggle attaching my L bracket to the tripod head.
As long as you use Nikon, we are good brothers😜😎
Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful location Courtney! The conditions were a “tad” challenging at times😀 liked the way you simplified the frame with the vertical orientatiom when you zoomed in, interesting shapes in that one but also liked the other shots! Cheers😊
It's a great place! I'm glad decided to go and check it out. Shame it's not a little closer or I'd probably spend a lot of time there! Thanks for watching Peter, hope your weather isn't so challenging over there haha.
Really enjoyed this video Courtney. Unfortunately the like button isn't working
Thanks Stephen for letting me know! I've already had someone else mention they couldn't either so not sure what's going on there! Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Courtney for this one.
You achieved some nicely constructed images here.
Just a few things that would help you greatly in your quest to
becoming a master at your craft.
Tripod spikes work well on sand.
A geared head or pan and tilt head out does the ball head setup wanting for better composition.
Never, ever leave your camera bag on the sand.
Try lowering your tripod for a better composition making the foreground more dominant.
Believe you me,after shooting for 48yrs I have learned a lot over that time.
Take care
Thank you for watching and thanks for the wonderful tips! Lowering the tripod is great advice and I can see how I could have applied that to one or two of the images in this video. I still have a lot of growing to do with my photography but I love being able to share my journey with people here. I really appreciate the comments and encouragement from more experienced photographers such as yourself! I hope you have a great week!
@@CourtneyVictoria your very welcome Courtney. The way to learn photography is exactly what you are doing. That is getting out and doing photography.
Another free tip here is to don’t be afraid to revisit the same location time after time after time until you get the light you want. That is what makes a very good landscape photographer.
Take care

Great stuff Courtney and great to see you out doing seascapes, "Last bit of light" was brilliant mate. Sorry i haven't been on your channel , YT is playing up for me I'm not getting notifications on channels.
Great video Courtney! Beautiful location, I remember how wide those Welsh beaches can be from a couple of my visits over there. Amazing! Love this photo walk series. Love the shot and composition at 1:58 but I think my favorite image was that beauty at 3:37. Tripod spikes certainly help in some occasions but I suspect in wind like that it would be best to not leave anything to chance. I wouldn't have taken my hand off my tripod/camera either. Great video, really enjoyed it. Hope you are doing well, keep safe!
It's been quite a few years since I visited the Welsh coast, and probably a year or more since I went to a beach at all! Felt great to do something different. Even the spikes on my tripod with my filming camera on couldn't help me towards the end ha! The wind was pretty insane. Thanks for watching and have a great week!
Great videos
Brill 👍🏻
Very nice I mean the photographer
Hi Courtney I am new to doing landscape photos I did my first sunset photo last year and it came out better than I thought was using my canon camera with a 18-55mm lens so watching your videos I think will help me in doing landscape photos so thank you for making these great videos if you could give me any tips on the best filters that would be good
너무 좋은 영상이네요ㅎㅎ
i like your unagitated way of presentation. please keep it up. keep your feet dry, more importantly your camera.😉✌️
Thank you! Yes, it's been a while since I've done coastal/seascape photography so I had to remind myself to keep an eye on that water!
I got that L Bracket for my Z6ii. It's great! Great shot @ 5:11
What lens are you shooting with at the wide end?
@Sendi
That was a nice location. To bad there were so many foot prints in the sand.
☺️👍
As a seascape photographer myself just curious why you ain’t using grad filters to get correct exposure?? ….
I don't own any. I don't do seascapes often as I don't live near the coast nor travel there often.
@@CourtneyVictoria that’s fair enough loving your videos by the way keep it up 👍
You need to loose the camera holder on try pod !!!
Never user the center column or even better do not buy a tripod with center column if you want the best stability at long exposure times.
Spend the money on a new tripod head.
