We need two things : Wide outside display and a integrated Spen (inside the phone like the ultra) what idiot will use a case for the pen when we have the ultra with the inside one.

Exactly, when Samsung first introduced it in Z Fold 3 I was excited for that alone but most tech youtubers really were complaining about the quality, like who cares that's what the cover selfie cam is for.
Because they trash on the picture and video quality of the under display camera.
Only in dark mode. That shit hurts when first setting up the device and it's need to use light mode instead of asking if we want dark mode turned on at the beginning of the setup.
IKR... I am dying to get a new phone (iPhone or Galaxy) but none have a phone with a full screen - no cutouts, notches, punch holes - whatsoever. So making do with my Note 9.
I have the z fold 4 and i am never going back to a regulsr phone again. Having a bigger screen is awesome.
I have just ordered my fold 5 what annoys me is the fact that a £1800 phone doesn't even come with a charger plug only the wire that's disgusting from Samsung

Yup totally agree with you. The worst part is I had the Fold 4 I had good experience. Except that my Fold had water damage I had to repair it with warranty and I changed it with the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I have to say the iPhone have AMAZING battery life. But I still miss the fold because of the multi tasking and bigger screen. I thought maybe I am gonna change it again with the Fold 5 but I refused because of the minor changes compare to the 4 and I will probably wait for the 6 🤨 Hopefully there will be a good change!

Just upgraded my fold 4 and pre-ordered my fold 5, along with the watch and tablet. Never thought i would switch from apple but the Samsung ecosystem is superb and a lot less security issues too.

I had samsung galaxy note 2, 4, s10, s20, s22 ultra, and fold 4, recently I decided to give apple a chance and my new iphone 14 pro max feels much more ergonomic and the os is way smoother, I don't know why i hated apple for so many years, it's super elegant, I don't know how a smaller battery on this iphone performs better than my old s22 ultra which has a much higher capacity 🤔

I’m getting mine today from Verizon, first time going away from Apple. I’m definitely done with them but especially their faulty lightning cables.
@@Schervinyeah the s22 ultra had very poor battery optimization. My now fold 5 with smaller battery lasts longer than the s22 ultra. But no apple ios is horrible compared to android or one ui. Ergonomically the fold 5 is way superior than any normal phone. The bulkyness makes it stick in you pocket and never slide out and its very comfy to hold for phonecalls and very nice unfolded i tablet mode for 2 handed typing and media consumption. I thought i would be bothered by the crease but its totally fine.

We have the current model of the Samsung galaxy fold phone and it has a horrible line where the fold is after 6 months of light use. Terrible
Good job, Tim. It is nice to hear some postive things about the 5. I have the fold 4 and look foward to receiving my 5 even if it has some minor upgrades. I would still pick this phone over Google Pixel Fold.I Iooked at the Google Pixe foldl several times in person to compare and felt my 4 was better. The front screen on the pixel fold was better. However, why buy a fold if you are going to use the front screen 80 percent of the time.

exactly. yes the fold would be nice even just a little wider. so the front was a little easier to type on or make it so you can use the spen on the front. thinking of making the fold 5 my first fold. i don't like the pixel fold to short and to wide

Until they add an s pen slot in the device, I won't be getting one. I love my S23 ultra with the s pen. I don't know why they wouldn't just add a slot into the damn phone

Man, I wish they made this case for the fold 4, this makes the spen case for the fold 4 look like it came out in 2008.

I only partially attest to what your saying. Tim had been one of the top 10 in any tech group. He's normally invited to any of the big Tuber events. So no need to lay it on thick bc he's there

Look I have z fold 3 now for 2 years
Big screen is cracked in the middle from regular use, should have apple like care to change the phone if damage happened, it is an EXPENSIVE phone
The biggest drawback that the s pin is not inserted into the phone still no place for it which is very annoying

Damn. When it was announced, the pre-order image looked like it it would fold like the pixel. I liked the bigger front screen for one handed fast paced use. I was wrong. And have withdrawn my pre-order. My fold 3 is still going strong.
This year's fold was very disappointing. It was basically a cut and paste. I wish Samsung Didn't try to be like apple.
Apple is not a threat. That's why Samsung is in cruise control. If Apple does something innovative...lol. Samsung will raise the bar.

I think the big problem is the fact it's still a minimal refresh from the Fold 3 which is 2 models ago. A 1 year refresh is understandable but 3 devices all being practically the same is pure laziness.
I'll be waiting to trade my Fold 3 for the upcoming One Plus Fold.

@9:45 , with this S pen, you do NOT have access to all those S pen features without an S pen Pro. Air Actions are NOT supported by the S pen in this video.
If you don't know what you're talking about, don't talk about it. At a minimum, when you do become aware, fix it.
New sub. Please compare this to the mix fold 2 and mate x3. This phone is superior software wise from what I’ve seen, but the build is horrible compared to the other 2 imo.
I wouldn't say terrible. The hardware on Z Fold 5 is nice and very solid. It's not as thin, but the phones you mentioned above are thinner with their own tradeoffs. No solid flex mode hinge, lack of water resistance ratings (i think some do tho), and bad thermals.
Can't believe there's no included charger with such an expensive phone.

The price makes no sense whatsoever for a phone that is almost exactly the same as the Fold3 from 2 generations ago. They change way to little. at least give us the same camera's as the s23 Ultra for this price.

Coming from the Fold 2 or 3 to the Fold 5 is so... underwhelming. I opted for the Pixel Fold. weaker gpu, but overall better on so many fronts imo

You said you can use the S-Pen on both the internal and external display. I've heard that Samsung did not add a digitizer to the external display, so S-Pen use is limited to the inside display only. Can you verify?
I dunno why but he was so cheery introducing himself I had to say "HELLOOO" at my screen just now.
Samsung needs to tad bit widen the front screen closer to the S23 and include integrated S Pen, slim down the thickness further to compensate the wider front screen.
And then introduce the Z Fold Mega version, which scales up the regular Z fold.
fingers crossed for one day it can extend the outer screen by a few mm to integrate the Spen in the device itself!

Honestly, the phone is unwieldy unfolded as it is, I don't want it to get wider. A wider phone will have the centre of gravity further away from your palm, which makes it easier to drop and heavier to hold one-handed.
If you don't believe me, try turning your Fold in landscape and use it like that. I don't find it great at all. Just my opinion.
No we like the thickness. It feels very good to hold and the thicker it is the more battery it can have and better termals.
I doubt if they’ll ever do that. I think they want to keep the customer bass separate for the fold and the ultra. I think that’s why they stopped making the note the ultra essentially became the note

For the first time since 2010, I see absolutely no reason to to upgrade from 4 to 5. I feel like Samsung dropped the ball in a major way. WTH were they doing over the past year. They brought back the cameras of the yesteryear!!
Not every product release needs to be revolutionary, some are simply iterative evolutions. For example i avoided buying the Fold 4 because i hated the hinge, it seemed annoying that it couldn't fully close, i even had a horrible experience with the smaller Flip phone breaking because of the weird hinge, but now for the first time ive gone ahead and pre-ordered a Fold 5 since it seems a lot more polished compared to previous editions.
Don't know about you but personally i would hate it if phones had seriously big improvements every single year; it would make your device feel useless and quickly outdated since everyone would be gravitating towards the "next great thing".... in fact if product releases could be every 2 or 3 years that would be excellent and give you time to enjoy your "latest" phone.
overall it looks better without the gap... but if dirt were to be stuck then its gonna damage the screen/screen protector easier...

Is the pen included?
People tell how good this new case is, but how many people write notes carrying a phone with hands? Try to put it on the table and you`ll see this slot for s-pen became a some sort of swing - your phone will constantly wobble from side to side making witing (drawing) experience absolutly horrible!
I know what I'm talking about! I had a Fold 3 with the same case. Now it has more accurate, slim slot, sure, but apparently with the same problem!
By now they should have figured a way to put the pen inside the phone.
I would love to get this, but I just have to have something wider for single-handed use. When I'm at work and doing other stuff on the go I can't have it opened up for two-handed mode, it's just too inconvenient

i sampled this phone and it has come a long way. the form factor is so much better. maybe i might get the fold 7 just gotta get used to having such a phone

This new fold 5 doesn't really impress as the prior generations used to. Thus i have been thinking and eventually concluded that it'd both relatively lucrative and consumer orientated if next year samsung released a series of various design foldables. The fold 6 mini with certain references to latest oppo mini foldable in terms of screen size for those who are willing to reconcile the foldability with compactness. The usual fold 6 with possible improvements in comparison to fold 5 but still similar for fans of this classic design. And the most advanced and innovative ultra version with all conceivable stuff including much bigger screen. This would definitely satisfy all users and create unique diversity of options from one company.

Air action doesn't require Bluetooth to operate. Spen for fold 4 also works with air action.
@@kianvoonyau3390 I think you may be mixing up Air Commands with Air Actions. I've had the 3 and have 4 now, Air Actions are only supported with the s pen pro. This is for changing music tracks and using the camera shutter, air commands is the little pop up window to the right that pops up when you eject the s pen.

Twice the folding screen was replaced. Now, on the 3rd time, WITHOUT GIVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE THE BACKUP, they dismantled the device and said it would take around 10 days to fix it. Are you going to destroy all of his work data? More than 1000 customers?

Samsung, please add app to count the number of foldings from the first day of phone usage. My Fold4's screen schacked after 9 months of use. Shame, Samsung, Shame. Pay 2k euros for mobile phone and screen is cracked less than a year... And BTW, screen change costs about 800 euros. A real disappointment and frustration, Samsung... 🤦

No. This one and previous S pens for the Fold, aside from the S Pen Pro, do not. So, when he makes it seem as if this S pen supports Air Actions, he's misleading, ignorant, or both.

I'm officially done with samsung. Their customer service is terrible. They blame u for all the issues this phone has and they won't honor warranty. All 3 of mine ripped in the middle and they said I did it.

This is my dream phone but i will never be able to afford one....is disgustingly and unexplainably exensive...for no reason as its not that great...i have the fold 3 and its almost the same.
I'm so disappointed in this phone. Samsung had an opportunity to make this killer and they passed. If they had made the cover screen a little shorter and a little wider, I would have seriously considered it. Since it's the same as the Fold 4, that's a hard pass for me. The cover screen at that size is pretty useless.
How many apps are optimized for this ratio? That's my make or break for the folds. Thanks Tim
Literally any app if not optimized will resize with the Fold unlike the Pixel.

For games, I usually put most of them into 4:3 as it feels much better than full-screen.
What still blows my mind is the are about 1800 and u don't get a charger or case yet vivo fold is 1500 with case and fast charger all ya pay for is the name
