  • Shaykh Saalih al-Usaymi whilst finishing teaching a book spontaneously gave an admonition on manners to the students that they are unlikely to ever forget.

Whenever I have a flight of fancy to consider myself wise or knowledgeable I listen to a scholar speak for a minute.. it only takes seconds to remember and realise I am ignorant of most knowledge and more importantly the understanding of knowledge. Alhamdulillah that Allah bless us to be among the generations that still have scholars of beneficial knowledge on correct aqeeda.

True..I do, I study tafseer, fiqh etc at islamic institutions online as my hubby does not like me going to the gatherings, but heart yearns for mecca and medina, the Kabba and Masjid Nabawi, the places where these wise scholars sit, literally I can sit for hours listening to them. People like short lectures but I love long, the details and listening to the words of Allah swt and the Prophet swt, I am addicted, love learning Islam. I have gotten my daughter to study at a beautiful madrassa which does an 8yr islamic course and curriculam studying Quran and burkari etc. At least she gets to do what I wished my parents would have done for me, push me to do Islamic studies, rather the secular soo much, I done Law.
My husband is going umrah, he had made a promise to a very nice mualana in pakistan as well when he was better he would take him, which is wonderful. But the likelihood is I will not get to go, I am not going to pressure him as he has financial issues, he is borrowing money to go. But my heart was crying to go...I yearns to be called to Mecca and Medina, yearining for Allah swt to call me and I be with Him (swt) and with those He loves. Sorry for the long text....I just emotional whenever I see Mecca, Medina and Baytul Muqadus...

We don't even respect whatever knowledge that we gain from anywhere, Whether it is science math business or whatever. Even though all true knowledge is from allah, some of us say this course (whether its science or whatever) is terrible and we complain, not realizing that we are taking about knowledge that we are blessed with from allah. May allah forgive us for forgetting the source.

In Islam, knowledge is not a thing where we can just take and leave. Teachers are meant to be respected, not bowed but at least respected. Imagine our prophet Muhammad SAW suddenly leaving when his teacher Jibril AS was teaching. It will be disrespectful not just toward Jibril AS but also towards Allah SWT whom gave permission to Jibril AS to spread knowledge.

No brother that's a big fat lie. 15 to 20 years ago true but not nowadays. most of the students donot respect their teachers let alone show some manners. their is no class on mannerism.
In subcontinent we used to respect our teachers and elders.
with time we gained a lot of things but we lost a lot too.
PS: i am not saying there is no one with manners. this set has a lot few people now than before.

Yes and no. This is abit too far. What happened to thinking good of your brother? Perhaps they were suppressing the need to urniate or defacate, perhaps the mother was calling, perhaps a child was in need for milk and the wife was stranded, perhaps they urgently need to leave for 101 reasons yet they strove and stayed till end as much as possible… and then they’re rebuked and made an example of for 66,000 people to watch in youtube. There’s a fine line between displaying good manners and being excessive in veneration. Not even the messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم demanded such veneration in fact he صلى الله عليه وسلم spoke Against it, he was the most forbearing when ppl were entering into Islam and familiarising themselves with societal reforms and learning the sunnah, the messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم had patience and tolerance and took it easy. But obviously because it’s scholar x with a reputation for xyz no1 can say these words as it’s considered “disrespectful” - if the comments section is open then expect balanced views and constructive criticism not just lavish praise. Otherwise turn comments off. May Allah bless the shaykh and all the students. May Allah make us peopl of knowledge.

This is not too far. He was just sending a message to the students. That students should respect their teacher and the lesson. There’s nothing wrong with that. I think you are the one overthinking this with your analysis.

What about thinking positive of your brother now?
How forcefully you critisize the sheikh for something that you yourself are doing.
      Fear Allah.
