There is truth and an aura of honour and grace from the Mercy of Allāh upon the true scholars who are upon the Qur'ān and the Sunnah by the understanding of the Salaf. As for the others who call to other than the truth, other than the Qur'ān and Sunnah, they are not scholars, and "secular scholars" should not even be an existent term, what ridiculousness! They are scholars of misguidance and bi'dah. The comparison of the Shuyookh to the bid'ah preachers is that of a mountain of gold (knowledge) to a pile of dirt.

With technology they can reach the moon and mars, but they can't reach jannnah with that, if achieving something in this vanishing world life is praise worthy for them, then achieving in permanent hereafter is far considered to be praise worthy, but people whose hearts are hard as rock won't understand this
The Quran is a beautiful Book, and it is one book, why would a man of faith not carry it with him and travel the world in search of knowledge, and journey and explore and learn and teach and learn the meaning of life, and when he felt his faith tested, open it and read and renew himself? Perhaps if somebody surrounded themselves with books and book and books and books, he would be afraid to leave his fort made up of books, for only in that fort, his faith is safe and not able to with stand the true tests of this world, and there he would sit. Ironically, if one was to weigh all the books, that made up that fort, they would weigh less than the Holy Quran. Why not carry ones true fort with one and venture into the world and discover . . .after all, if Allah wanted a Tree that never moved and withered and died in the place that it was born . . .he would plant one.
