Absolutely the best vlog of my wife's hometown ever. Your detailed description of the food was excellent. Great hotel choice but it's booked till the end of November. You're a very under rated channel. I hope you grow fast. Keep it up. thank you.
Watching this clip again in my office on a slow day, and it makes me think how sweet Helen must be, to let you go out on your little adventure for a few days at a time while she's "holding down the fort." What a lucky man you are.
yay I've been waiting for this video. Living in the North part of North-Eastern (E-san) region in Thailand that cost very very cheap when you compare to Bangkok so I want everyone to come and try. Khao Gee Pate I don't know how this name come from but in my opinion they got inspired by Vietnamese-French cuisine that use Vietnam-style baguette & chicken liver paste they called Pate. This dish you can see in Vietnam and Laos too.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video Leonardo. They actually call it Khanom Pang Farang Set (French bread) I was told in the comments. Khao Jee Pate is a Lao term as you said, from the French occupation of Indochina
"Pate" is a french word, it's made from liver, and that's the same word used for it here in Vietnam. Vietnamese banh mi has approximately the same ingredients. They commonly put two slices of chilli pepper on top too, but use soy sauce, and some coriander leaves. "Farang" may originally be a Thai word for "French", but I'm not completely sure of that.
You are a foreigner who is trying to access the lifestyle and food culture of Thai people very much. Thank you very much for making youtube clips in your channel. I have followed you..!!

There are a lot of Vietnamese settled in this Thai province during the French Indochina war. They then introduced Vietnamese food to Thai people. One of Vietnamese dish that most Thai people love is called Nam Neung (nem nướng in Vietnamese). There's a biggest, most well known nam neung chain in Thailand named Nam Neung VT run by Vietnamese Thai businessman. His family business nam neung has history for over 60 years that his mother began to sell nam neung as a hawker.
The minced pork wrapped in the crunchy Banh Da or Banh Trang is maybe the Thai version of Banh Dâp in Da Nang . For me the best Vietnamese restaurants out of Vietnam are in Little Saigon , L.A. San Jose ( California ) , Houston ( Texas ) , NYC , Toronto ( Canada ) , Sydney, Melbourne ( Australia) and Paris ( France ) where there are lots of large Vietnamese communities .

I didn’t know about them 🤦♂️
Mate, could you make a list of top5/10 restaurants/food stalls in bangkok?
I could do a list of my favourites but I try and stay clear of 'best' lists as it's so subjective and there's always someone waiting to pounce in the comments section 😅
@@theroamingcook yeah that's what I meant with locations attached haha
In Lao, they call banh mi khao jee pate and they call roasted sticky rice khao jee.
Thanks for clearing that up for me 😀
What hotel did you stay, saw the sign but could not get the name, sorry your British accent not clear to me, thank you
10k coming ❤️🥳
Madness 😅
I'm living in Vietnam but have never been to Laos or Isaan. I had no idea these very common Vietnamese dishes like banh mi and banh cuon are common there too.
I love Vietnam so much. Where are you from?
@@theroamingcook The US.
In the Northeast or E-san mostly we call baguette
" France
bread "
ka-nom-pung= bread ,
farang- sed = France
Thank you! This is great information 🇹🇭❤️🙏
I miss Nakhonphanom ❤❤❤ มันคือบ้านเกิดของฉัน
I miss it already! 😭
Garry bro, this Friday's night (19th) is a full moon and Loy Kratong festival night. Could you make a cool Loy Kratong party vlog for us, please ?
I would love to but not sure it will be possible with my son. Maybe a short one 😁
I'm sorry that we aren't letting you celebrate your subscriber milestones. By the time the video comes out, you seem to have crossed another couple of thousand lol.
Haha, I know it’s out of control 😂
