      I often try to order Guey Teoy tom yum here in Australia and end up with Tom Yum Goon with Sen Lek in it. It's annoying. I have found two places that do it properly though.

      @@theroamingcook - I am Thai-American and I am about 75% fluent. I still have more to learn. I can't read or write in Thai but I plan to move to Thailand in the future and attend Thai language school. This is why I am watching your channel and other ex-pats' channels.

I love the fact that you’re not snobby about Khao San Rd - despite 30 years ago being put off the place by some expat friends, we’ve often stayed at Buddy Lodge and had a right laugh there of an evening. But you’re right, there is NO good food there (although there used to be a couple of nice curry shops on Rambuttri). Not been there for a while, but mr Weins pointed us in the direction of some nice places a few years ago. Next Time, I’m definitely searching out that prawn head Tom yum 😋

    Brings back many memories of taste and people. The fried garlic is a plus.....difficult to find here in the US, even in Asian market places and supermarkets. I have a small stash I've hoarded for years. But there's nothing like the real thing in the right setting. Best thing was, no farangs, then you know the food is great and fresh.

    • @pannachawangkul585
      @pannachawangkul585 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can make your own Fried Garlic. Be sure you have Food chopper to chop all those cloves of garlic, an electric wok, vegetable oil, and an outside outlet. You don't want to fry it indoor. The smell will permeate your furniture, clothing, hair, etc. Heat the oil on medium to low heat. Put in chopped garlic, stir until golden brown. Turn off the heat. Let it cool before store in a clean glass jar. Should last up to 3 months. If you keep longer than that, the oil could go rancid.

    I am from Louisiana in the US, and sucking the heads of crawfish is common, as that's where the best flavor resides. It soaks up the spice more than the tail meat, so it is often super spicy.

    Normally, when we order noodle we will not request the chef to do the flavor as we want as you asked her to make more spicy ... but we will let them do their recipe and we will add more flavor sweet, spice, salty as we want later so this is why our thai food will be best wherever we eat becas it we can make our own taste

    I'm not gonna vote in favour of a KSR tour personally. Your nook and cranny approach is all part of the charm of these vids, rather than just somewhere any old Joe Bloggs can find for themselves. Cor blimey guvna, those prawns in the 2nd joint were proper. All that grub in 1 day though duchess! Mate, you're gonna have to get down to Phrom Phong to burn off those calories lol. Def gonna visit that 2nd place as that style soup was much more up my alley. Also very reassuring to see that even a dirty farang that's fluent in Thai food can still end up with stuff that he didn't even know he was ordering - happens to us all, treacle!
