I’ve been searching all over trying to find a pattern like this! My main question, because I can probably figure out most of it on my own, is how are the dowels attached to each other/what knot do you use underneath them to secure them together? I’m most worried about safety and making sure it won’t come apart!
I made a swing like this. I drilled holes through the dowels for the top ones and tied the knots but for the bottom I put a a few screws in the joints on the bottom aswell just to make sure.
@Hello Hoyles Ditto! It's been trial and error for me with different ropes, knots, dowels, etc... At this point, it would have been cheaper if I just bought one!

How long did the swing actually take to make? I can see why they are fairly expensive to buy.
Yes they do take a while to create - the knotting alone can take a couple of days, but then you also have to cut all the strings for prep etc.
Knot Calm how much string did you have to use?
there is approx. 200m of string or more in this pattern!
It took my mom a day to complete it all
Please share measurements all
Any way you could share the pattern? Three out of my 4 daughters are pregnant. Would love to do something like this for them.
I have not yet created a pattern, but will share on my social media page if I do create one, so make sure to follow for updates!
How many lbs does it hold up to? I have a 9 month old baby girl she weighs 19 lbs
I would say a maximum of 40lbs, and never leave your child unattended in the swing.
How many cords used & lenth
