    I actually did this project and all my friends loved it.. I’m not an expert but was able to follow the instructions and finish it.. now I have to find a good spot to hang it . It was a long project though, with full time work with a one year didn’t help too.. took me almost a month to finish it but I’m really excited. Thank you for this beautiful project.

      @@dianaelenaleon I have my supplies but due to life being so busy I have not yet to get to it. I hope to get to it by the fall. I will update then. Good luck to you.. The video is pretty good with instructions watch a few times and write it down. Only set back is that supplies are slightly costly but the beauty is worth the extra coin in my opinion.

    I love this. I do macrame all the time in my horse tack business. I made one of these years ago and it lasted a very long time even being outside. I use 6mm macrame cord for a lot of my tack designs. The macrame cord comes in an endless supply of colors too! Beautiful job! I just started a channel myself and it is challenging to get the camera and all the supplies ready to go. Thx for taking the time to make this. Awesome 👍

    Hey Lady, I watched your video years ago and have been salivating over it ever since! ❤❤❤ Unfortunately, due to a fixed income, I could never afford the materials. I've sold my house so will finally, finally have the funds to follow my dream. The temptation to spend money I cannot afford till closing in 30 days is palpable, but I must maintain a modicum of self control 🙃 Hmmm 🤔 WTH! Self control be damned. On my way to find and purchase materials to create this masterpiece whether I eat between now and closing or not 🤣👍🤣👍🤣👍 Wish me luck 🤞🤞🤞

    Love This. Newbie to Macrame but me and my crazy self are going to give it a go. I am tying to calculate how much additional rope is needed to make it 12” wider. I’m guessing about 1/3 more of everything?? Or around 800’ more of rope? But I guess I can always buy more if I run short? I have also calculated adding in one more braided piece at the ends so 4 instead of 3; and extra rope for the design area between the two dowels. Just thinking out loud - hoping to get some feedback if you’re not too busy. Have a great day!! 😄

    • @MeganBell
      @MeganBell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ooo I'm not sure of the numbers to make it wider off the top of my head. It's been a few years since I've made this, but I wish you luck!

      Megan Bell Thanks for replying Megan. Just a curious question: in your video you mention a relative gave you the instructions for this hammock. Can I ask how “vintage” it is? Just wondering. I’ve started and just got to the 2nd dowel. It’s very time consuming with the very very very long ropes. I spend most time trying to keep them all untangled - but I’m not giving up!

    I have made this twice now. Once the hammock was too narrow and the second was extremely long. I put 2" between my knots on the second one and when I got to the diamond it was more like 1 inch so it is a little narrower in the middle but it is about 24 feet long and I had to add cord to make the braid. Any suggestions where I went wrong for the third time try? It is beautiful and I am determined to make a good one yet! Thank you.

    I am just about done with my hammock only it looks very narrow. I used all the correct supplies and followed the instructions (which were very good, by the way), but will probably need to make another since this was a Birthday gift for my sister and it won't fit her, I'm pretty sure. Can you tell me the approximate measurement between the alternating square knots. I think I was too tight on this. Please advise asap. I would like to make another only this time a usable one. Love the looks, just have to tweak it a bit. Thank you!

    • @MeganBell
      @MeganBell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Larry! You should have a couple inches between. I felt mine to be a bit on the narrow side as well and actually had to go back and loosen and adjust some of my square knots. You can do that, but it takes some time. Even when I was done, it looked to be narrow but it does stretch quite a bit once you get in it, so don’t be fooled.

    • @MrServoJockey
      @MrServoJockey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeganBell Megan - thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I think I will have to find something to make it wider now because I am already putting the last 1" dowel in place. I think I am too far gone to adjust and will just start over with another hammock. Again thank you!

    Good job! It looks amazing! I used to macrame way back in the '70s when I was a kid. One can only hang so many plants....now I see a much more practical use for the skill I have almost completely forgotten! I am inspired thanks to your video! And yes, I watched the whole thing! Just wondering how the cotton cord would hold up to outdoor space that isn't sheltered. I'd like to make one for my deck and wondering if paracord could be used.

    • @MeganBell
      @MeganBell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Megan Bell thanks Megan! I liked the price of the cotton cord much better so I’m doing that 😂. Got a size 3 1/8” inch corn but it’s still thinner than what you used in the video. I’m finding the measurements are not the same, so I’m having to adjust the pattern a bit to make it work! Boy those long cords are really the hardest part. I’ll send you pics when I’m done with the email address you included in another comment. If it has changed, let me know! Thanks for your help! Even though it’s hard, I’m really loving it.

    • @MeganBell
      @MeganBell  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hannah, with recording and everything it added a ton of time to this project for me. It’s hard to give an estimate for just doing the hammock alone. I would say I could have done this in two weeks in my spare time while working a full time job. But that’s without and children to factor in. It just depends on how much time you have to dedicate to it. If you’re quick and know the knots it could be done in a day or day and a half working on it straight through.

      That’s a great question, I’ve actually had to adjust the hammock since I filmed this. I hung it too close together on the balcony and it did fold me in half. But once I hung it further apart , it was perfect.

    Great Job, i have a question , do i need „fringe” that you made. its really pretty, but i dont have that much yarn . Do you think that hammock will be secured whitout it ?

    • @MeganBell

      Lusia Zac. This fringe is only decoration, so if you do not have enough cord I would skip it.

    Amazing hammock, truly inspired by what you've done.Only one question: would you be so kind to clarify total length of cord being used (or explain values in cut list, e.g. 10 144''=xxx metres).I'm from Ukraine and mixed up with the measurements due to different systems. Many thanks for you video and support. Still believe that able to create such a great hammock by myself:)

    • @MeganBell
      @MeganBell  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Great question! I purchased a spool of cord that measured 2400 feet for this project and I used about 80% of that spool to complete it. I would say to have about 700 meters of cording for this project. You may have a bit left over but not too much. It's quite a project!
