i enjoyed watching you decorate. i always tell my kids ( who are grown), all i want for christmas every year is to just have them and my 4 grandkids together on christmas day!!! we started a tradition that we all stay at my oldest son and daughter in law’s house every christmas eve night so all 4 grandkids can open gifts together christmas day. then on christmas eve, we make cookies for santa and make christmas crafts. my grandkids are 14, 10, 5 and 2!!

We’ve lived here for 45 years. Have used a wood stove every winter. My husband is 79 and I’m 70. We invested in a wood splitter a few years ago and it was well worth it. You’ll still get lots of exercise because you handle the wood about 5-6 times before it gets to the stove. There’s nothing like wood heat to take away the cold. Get a humidifier cause it drys out the air in your home and you’ll get sick easier without the humidity.
Oh how my husband loves Christmas music too. He would go out of way to find any station playing it before Halloween even happened. lol. He is in the hospital this Christmas and last Christmas too so I pray daily he will come back to us and because he has hung in this long I know he will.

Get an old cast iron bucket at a thrift shop and keep a simmer pot on your wood stove. Not only will it smell great but it will put moisture back in the house because a wood burning stove is so drying. We lived in Vermont for ten years and everyone did this. (doctor’s orders to keep the mucus membrane from drying out and getting sick.)

Google "No peek chicken". It takes rice, chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup and your chicken raw. It all goes in one pan and steam cooks. It is absolutely delicious. You could do your stuffing and broccoli on the side. Thank you for sharing this recipe, going to try it.

We only had a tree. No other decorations in the house. One year we talked our dad in to letting us put some lights in the shrubs. After that we did that every year.
We had a spaghetti bake tonight for dinner. Pasta had white sauce and meat sauce was a red sauce snd you layer cooked spaghetti into the dish and you add meat sauce then you add cheese on top and cook until cheese is melted. Very yummy indeed.

You talked about meal prepping in the year year, when we moved to missouri I had to do more of that because Walmart isn’t right down the road, something that has helped me, I got a notebook where once a week I plan out each meal, some are crock pot meals, some are 30 minute meals etc. write down the meal and everything your having with….I even make my grocery shopping list to go with those meals…then each day I look at it in the morning ( it hangs on the side of my refrigerator) so I can look and see what I need to take out of the freezer or to get ready for that night, what I might feel like doing…once we have that meal I mark it off….we even let our kids choose a meal of what they might like, I just tell them it needs to have a vegetable with it.. it has worked out pretty well… it is just a thought…good luck….😊❤️

I'm going to try to get my Christmas decorations out this week. Today is the 12th for me so hopefully I'll get it done soon. You should put your simmer pot to a cast iron pot.Put it on your wood stove. Keeping water in the pot, it helps with the moisture and smell. It feels like Christmas.

I'm watching at 2:30 am and now I'm hungry for that casserole and banana muffins. 🤣 That simmering pot reminded me that I gave all of my co-workers at the hospital that as a gift one Christmas. I decorated brown lunch bags and put all the ingredients for a simmer pot in it and it was a hit. Everyone loved it so much I made more of them for neighbors.

Hi, Valerie! My favorite casserole is King Ranch Chicken. Everyone has their own version of the dish, but my version is pretty easy. I'll send you a copy of the recipe in the mail along with the recipe for my favorite muffins, Hawaiian Muffins. The King Ranch Chicken is the first dish I prepared for my husband when we first got married. It must be good since 42 years later, I'm still cooking his dinners! If you plan on gardening, you may want to consider starting a compost bin during the winter to put your scraps/cardboard in. 💕💕🎶🎶

It is warm here in Australia. Air conditioners are on. Our Christmas is so hot sometimes but we still have our roast turkey, pork and ham with roast vegetables, and Christmas pudding. 🔔🔔🔔🔔

You talked about meal prepping in the year year, when we moved to missouri I had to do more of that because Walmart isn’t right down the road, something that has helped me, I got a notebook where once a week I plan out each meal, some are crock pot meals, some are 30 minute meals etc. write down the meal and everything your having with….I even make my grocery shopping list to go with those meals…then each day I look at it in the morning ( it hangs on the side of my refrigerator) so I can look and see what I need to take out of the freezer or to get ready for that night, what I might feel like doing…once we have that meal I mark it off….we even let our kids choose a meal of what they might like, I just tell them it needs to have a vegetable with it.. it has worked out pretty well… it is just a thought…good luck….😊❤️
Valerie you're not alone when it comes to feeling behind on decorating. You are way ahead of me sweetheart. I still have all of my fall decorations up, lol! I'm going to try to get my Christmas decorations out this week. Today is the 12th for me so hopefully I'll get it done soon. My grandchildren keep asking when am I going to decorate so I can't disappoint them. Everything you have done so far looks so pretty. As always your supper looks amazing! You should put your simmer pot to a cast iron pot.Put it on your wood stove. Keeping water in the pot, it helps with the moisture and smell. It feels like Christmas.

I'm watching at 2:30 am and now I'm hungry for that casserole and banana muffins. 🤣 That simmering pot reminded me that I gave all of my co-workers at the hospital that as a gift one Christmas. I decorated brown lunch bags and put all the ingredients for a simmer pot in it and it was a hit. Everyone loved it so much I made more of them for neighbors.

Hi, Valerie! My favorite casserole is King Ranch Chicken. Everyone has their own version of the dish, but my version is pretty easy. I'll send you a copy of the recipe in the mail along with the recipe for my favorite muffins, Hawaiian Muffins. The King Ranch Chicken is the first dish I prepared for my husband when we first got married. It must be good since 42 years later, I'm still cooking his dinners! The house looks lovely all decorated for the holidays. Merry Christmas to you all!!
