To many of the homeless have adopted an attitude of, what's yours is mine and this is the result of such thinking. Hooking up to water, electric, ransacking his home, the trash, stench, trespassing, and the list goes on and on. Downtown it is interfering with people's businesses and their ability to make a living. Homeless on my own property in USA, Washington State. I house homeless people and now Island County wish to close my legal renting and to send me out from my property to live as homeless. #2 says “all residents of the three-bedrooms house on the Property to vacate the premises within 14 days. After 14 days may shut of electricity to the house” # 6 says: "Island County may physically secure the garage, RVs and any other structures that have been used for human habitation”
This is an issue that I personally struggle to reconcile. I’d say don’t allow people to set up camp on the streets, but that wouldn’t solve the root of the problem which is the lack of access to healthcare, rehabilitation, and affordable housing. I wish the solution was easy. It does upset me that there are public restrooms plus a portopotty and a dumpster and the area is still filthy and seemingly unappreciated. I moved here because I fell in love with Olympia, but lately it’s become so dirty and uncertain that I have considered moving.
Unfortunately the solution is easy. The military has these expensive fighter jets, billions of dollars per specialty fighter jet. If the military did not spend there billions on just one of those fighter jets every single homeless person on the face of the earth would have a home of there own valued at $600,000. Always money for war, never for peace and people. My kids were born in Olympia. Now they want to move and I will not see them or my grandkids regularly. Olympia used to be a great place to raise a family. I do not think anyone would want drug addicts living next to them. The drug problem has gotten out of hand. I live in a nice apartment building and in the last 2 years it has changed dramatically. I now have drug dealers living below me . I wake up in the morning to the smell of pot and cigarettes if I leave my window open. I can't sit out on my balcony anymore. And at 3am there are people outside my bedroom window. As long as they pay the rent the landlord does nothing. I can't afford to move because the Olympia apartment owners want you to prove you make 3 times your rent...$4,800 a month. I want homeless people to get their life on track. But raising rents for people on fixed incomes is going to drive us into difficult situations.
Question, say you give these homeless people an apartment, just how are they going to keep it? These folk forfeited their humanity long ago and are living like animals, who have found a city where the cities leaders are sucker enough to be bullied into tolerating their malfeasance.

Not enough is being done in the right ways to genuinely help the homeless from our politicians in Olympia. Letting them continue to live in tents and in filth outside is not humane. Same in Seattle.
Half of the problem is the continuous movement of the homeless rather than digging deep and trying to solve the problem and having empathy for these people. Every instance of NIMBYism, every instance where the homeless have been shoved out of one smaller pocket because people were offended or thought the problem was worse than it really was because they didn't like the dirty environment, has resulted in aggregation in larger areas like this where it actually DOES become a problem and crime increases. Solve homelessness first by not treating them like aliens.

@@yurig014 I actually do have a few homeless people living a short distance from where I live, and I haven't said as much as a peep about them. There are always limits to that logic, but like I said, it's a moving target the less tolerant individual neighborhoods and regions are. I'm not even suggesting that we immediately be capable of housing every single homeless, per se, because as hinted at, some either err towards or prefer the lifestyle. However, I am suggesting that we let especially smaller homeless encampments be, and rather than complain about them, be a little more tolerant and open-minded. If you hear a lot of the rhetoric on here, it's mostly about laziness, or that they're all druggies, or that they're all alcoholics or simply want to abuse the system. That rhetoric suggests to me that empathy IS the first step, and a simple basic understand of the human condition, and that everyone has different events in life that lead them to the point they arrive at through all manner of first principles and cause and effect. We can start there, and build up from the standpoint of being kindhearted towards people that are different and work from the point of understanding towards helping people in sometimes difficult straits to co-exist. In this case, that latter portion is a huge part of the compassionate "action." Live and let live. Reach across and try to achieve understanding from another person's world view.
"waah waah waah, I have to look at homeless people in the house I was inherited, waah," imagine if these people cared about tackling the root causes of homelessness instead of just their views; the irony is that then they wouldn't have to see the things they hate AND there'd be radically less homeless people.

After 14 days any person remaining in the houses may be removed” In all previous orders, the house was exempt. #3 says: “Mr. Muresan may reside in a personal vehicle on the(his) property. Mr. Muresan shall not enter or reside in any recreational vehicle of any kind, or any building on the property” #5 says: “Island County may shut off power supply to the garage/carport building and any RV. After 14 days may shut of electricity to the house” # 6 says: "Island County may physically secure the garage, RVs and any other structures that have been used for human habitation”
The poor man! What a shame!
Moktov cocktails can fix it
These home owners are a victim of their own government, which keeps doubling down and enabling chaos and anarchy. It's only going to get worse.
This is not new news, it has been this way for the last three years. J can see it from the mansion, so he must approve of the view. When tourists season is over, the rvzzz will line the street again.
"You vote and pay taxes" is like saying "you make your bed, you sleep in it."
Ask him which party he votes for lol
While they deserve housing, they shouldn’t encroach on peoples property like that
The state capitol .... unbelievable...lock up these criminals!
Good old Olympia I lived there for 37yrs it's turning into a Sewer!
We Are Talking About A Home Built In 1922?? Really?? And Bezos Doesn't Need To Pay Taxes?? People are not living in Reality!! It's a sad state!
You don’t say
At the very least there needs to be trash cans and portable bathrooms. If they really want to make a difference try and help keep these camps clean and give them basic necessities such as bathrooms and trash cans
Fire is like kryptonite to the homeless. If you start them on fire they will leave you the hell alone.
He is scared for his life basically you can definitely tell... They tried to rob him luckily they didn't try to hurt him...... They are out of control...
Not going to get better people are losing homes minute by minute in America
I dont get why the city cant make cheap housing for the homeless. Put in a homeless tax on alcohol cigarettes and vapes. Like .50 every 10 dollars then build them tiny homes. They could have a kitchen and cooks. Anybody getting welfare without a job could go volunteer for a couple hours cleaning up or cooking.
Leaving in fears.
Return the lake to its estuary state.
Back in the day they would recruit normal people to clear out these camps with clubs and then completely destroy the camps.
Let someone else do Olympia
But that's OK that we have to put up with that
Welcome to the American oligarchy. Cambridge analytica Cambridge analytica
Sounds like the so-called homeless in Denver.Theiving streetdirt not people down on their luck.Junkies and drunks incapable of leading productive lives.I got jumped and robbed here by a group.Unless there in a wheelchair or have no legs at all is the only way I would give a handout to them
they are eating pigeons regularly near the union gospel mission. Truth.
It all stems from the liberal college professors.
How about forcing cities to accept plans for affordable housing?! And get building! City after city keep rejecting plans for it, because they don't want their "home values decrease!" Imagine saying that in this insane housing market where houses are seriously overpriced (esp compared to wages) and more and more people will NEVER own homes and rent forever!
But people are upset, because people are getting pushed into homelessness! Talk about cognitive dissonance and a lack of compassion and a problem with individualism! All the working poor families, singles and couples are ALL struggling like crazy just to make rent just for rent to go up again! And a lot of people want to punish this?! This is bonkers.
@@shanetaylor7581 I will never vote for a Republican. The Dems are the lesser evil, but they're both full of corrupt sell outs. Funny enough it's right wingers that I always see who have far less compassion for poor, homeless and minorites. So yeah. No. Don't vote Republican either. Progressive or bust.
@Mountain William That's not true from anything I've ever read and my husband works in a field where he sees and talks with homeless people often. You're either very ignorant or lying.
@@tigerlily1118 Progressives want our tax money to pay for "free everything". How is that going to help the majority of people ?? Low wages and high rents need to change or the problem will just get worse.
You got inslee to think
"Popular with joggers"
you complain about homeless crime, but when they try to make money via work opportunities you either dont give it to them. Or you try to victimize. Humans shouldnt be allowed to complain about anything. Its more than likely self inflicted
@@BluePlanet1 I will retort: you complain about homeless crime, but when they try to make money via WORK opportunities you either DO NOT give it to them a JOB. Or you try to VICTIMIZE. Humans SHOULD NOT be allowed to complain about anything. Its more than likely self inflicted.
There all guilty for that stuff to him for that one guy that ransacked his place.
Not enough is being done in the right ways to genuinely help the homeless from our politicians in Olympia. Letting them continue to live in tents and in filth outside is not humane. Same in Seattle.
Oh are the rich Olympians upset about the deplorable‘s being too close to their beautiful homes. Poor rich people and there problems
If empathy could solve the homeless problem, we would not be here. Take a couple of the bums into your home and try that empathy thing. Tell us all how it works out for you.
@@jamesuberman5856 I suggested empathy was the first step. Compassion is the next.
@@niarazu3883 maybe you don’t know this but some of the homeless don’t want to even try! There are far too many young homeless and able bodied that should be working. Hell, join the Military if you have to! But they’d rather take up space on an intersection and hold up a sign! I used to have empathy, no anymore!
The problem that I see is clear, a sin problem. Pride too. Pray for healing, pray that God take them out of bondage and renew their hearts and minds. Pray for their salvation.
The police will not protect you they're not a private security service.
What happened to those American men that used to be men.. 🦸♂️
Looks like their only heroes are on CG movie's.
