My congratulations to Allan Jones and the Allen Institute for some really fascinating, groundbreaking work that is being exposed to the public in a very comprehensive manner. Thanks to you all! I will be downloading the Brain Explorer and digging through all your most interesting and informative material. Sam in Michigan
I heard a human brain simulation will be feasible by 2025. That's crazy. GL to all neuroscientists and everyone that is working on projects to simulate the human brain such as the Blue Brain Project, Human Brain Project (in Europe), and Brain Activity Map Project (in US).
Topsoil Depletion Awareness hmmm... maybe you aren't aware just how non linear advances in resolution, AI and processing are... that's 2025, machines will be many times faster, smaller and cheaper by then... far greater than the difference between your phone and a 1990's desktop PC. by my reckoning a current Google data center of processing will be bought in a store for less than a thousand bucks by then.
Transhumanism [h+] That's being criticized as wildly inaccurate by European researchers, who want a more reasonable goal to avoid a public backlash against falling short of the mark. Even so, there's no doubt both projects have tremendous potential and are long overdue.
valar I think both maps are doable... yes its complex but by the time its halfway through machine learning and utilising big data will solve most of the big issues. like the hgp the last 90% was all done in the last year or so... thanks to increases in processing technology. It'll be the same with this... a snails pace then suddenly boom! I'd set the bar even higher in fact...
+Mickelodian Surname Well...mapping the brain is FAR more complex than mapping the genome. And we still haven't figured out what to DO with all the information we got with the HGP, 18 years later.
The intelligence in his speech, the graphics, and the data are astounding!

Assuming the human brain is purely computational, which may not be the case, I still doubt the now seven-year timeframe.
Take a shot every time he says “uh”
What about Divine Commands from religious text? How will organized religion be affected?
I think its far from gross i found it quite beautiful
the first thing I noticed when looking at the brain is that it's gross.
SuperAtheist and tasty with a bit of salt... maybe a few roast potatoes... nice creamy parsley sauce....mmmmmm
Delicious BRAINS!!!
