@@MS-uj8dg they’re a public school, of course they’re going to look sloppy against a nationally ranked powerhouse. 50% of Mater Dei’s students need financial aid to attend the expensive private school, and they only receive the financial aid because they’re athletes. They have a 7.5 million dollar budget for their athletics programs. Not hating on the kids (they’re just doing what’s best for themselves), but It’s a broken system.

West hight simply lacked speed. Very good run blocking scheme. They need a 4.4 - 4.5 guy at the running back position. Their technique up front was top notch that's what made this game competitive.

They recruit all over SoCal that's a huge talent pool to pick from. I remember my High school played Mater Dei back in 2003 for the basketball state title. We were just a small local school and they were a bunch of rich kids from all over So-Cal. Daryl Strawberrys son was on the team. Schools that recruit should play in their own leagues in my opinion, it defeats the purpose of prep sports.

I saw this game last night. West football team gave up by the first quarter.. players started walking. Hand on hips. Body language is a real thing. When the opponent can read it he will destroy you.

Good win, But MD needs to clean up the TO's. They put the ball on the ground too many times. They have Gorman, Centennial, and the rest of the Trinity to play. Mistakes like that will cost them if they dont get it taken care of.

I wanted to mention Texas running their mouths on how great their teams are, but have not walk the walk on playing OOS competition. You pretty much said it. At least Allen, DeSoto, and Duncanville (also Euless in the past) have out of state comp. But yeah, Southlake, NS, Westlake, and all the other Texas teams need to step up.
Like Deion Sanders said there is no point of playing these big private schools that recruit the best players. Why take that risk with these local kids on these public schools. Its unfair. Cali has to put together Allstar teams to compete with Texas. Yall brag about these private schools just not knowing it make yall look dumb af. Yeah, the big football powerhouses---public AND private, and here I'm talking about Cent10, LB Poly and even Los Alamitos---all recruit from the youth football leagues, but it's NOTHING like the recruiting that goes on in college ball. In any case, this doesn't begin to describe how and why these schools are so dominant. Furthermore, a lot of the so-called "recruiting" is driven by parents, who understandably want their kids to get exposure at a big school.They do their homework, that's for sure.
So what makes Bosco, MD, Cent10, Poly, etc. great? PLAYERS are well aware where the talent goes, and wants to be there too, if they are talented. Their parents want them there as well. And, these football programs essentially offer year-round training---constant weightlifting, private coaching and conditioning (although not offered through the schools), WR, DB, QB, linebacker, and lineman specialized skills training, 7v7 competitions, QB camps, etc. etc. etc. They are not doing anything illegal or unfair or secretive, but they DO mean business, and conduct their programs professionally. Not many schools are as committed to athletic greatness in this way. THAT'S the result of so-called "recruiting," which is a widely misunderstood term that includes ALL of the above. In other words, this is largely a euphemism for commitment to excellence, not unfair competition for a limited talent pool. Although not entirely, as you suggest.

Last good teams that are from Utah are 2016 east high who beat de la salle when they were defending national Champs and pulaski academy( the team who never punts) and 2010s bingham who went to overtime with bishop Gorman. Since them no utah team has had an out of state win that's significant

Bingham and East are solid programs. Of course, Mater Dei makes most teams like bad.
Utah's had some pretty good teams over the years. Its just rare that they have GREAT teams to compete with out of state high schools. Like the other guy said, East beat De La Salle in 2016, then did decent against IMG in 2017 (lost 19-43, but was 19-22 at halftime), American Fork put up 32 against Mater Dei years ago as well.
West aint got no black players utah smh better start giving them brothers a chance ,,
