It's very unlikely that what we see here (software, hardware) are used in voice training. The focus of the student is in learning his actual voice and component parts, but measuring them as the boy approaches voice change is not a bad idea. Max, in this video, is a young 13 year old, and has sung in his choir (Tölzer Knabenchoir Munich) for 6.5 years already. He is obviously very intelligent and knows his own voice in every respect. Aside from checking on voice change, these tools are more often employed in verifying vocal damage, i.e., lesions on the vocal folds that result in hoarse vocalization and require total silence for six or more months until the body can repair itself.
Sorry, but I don´t believe that the choir has the time to reply on your question. The LMU München has an own website also in English language. Professor Dr. Matthias Echternach here is not listed: www.kaththeol.uni-muenchen.de/personenliste/index.html Ask the university for his e-mailaddress or write a letter to Prof. Echternach per address of the university: www.uni-muenchen.de/ueber_die_lmu/kontakte_lmu/index.html
Matthias Echternach war selbst ung.1981-86 Knaben-Sopran in Knabenchor Hannover und damal solistisch in u.a. Bachkantaten und Die Zauberflöte.

Beautiful!
Too bad I don't speak German. I would love to know more about the software and hardware that is being used for his training.
