I love her❤️❤️ She makes everything so much easier than most.. I’ve made so many of her recipes and they’re all so good and hassle free.. I’m Puerto Rican so she’s really helping me expand on italian cooking.. Thank you so much for that Laura.. And the quality of the video doesn’t matter one bit to me btw..

I don't understand why people make "suposobly homemade sauce, but yet use can ingredients. Why not just use fresh tomatoes instead of that canned tomato. Miteswel, buy the Marinara can sauce.

laura I just tried this marinara sauce tonight I must say perfection as I lick my lips im never buying canned sauce again wow easy to make I couldn't believe it question how come your meat sauce has to cook a while verses this recipe that cooks quickly thanks I love watching your videos I watch video that mention you and I finally said I must see what this vitale person is about lol oh how long can I freeze this sauce for thanks
yah i know the meat has to cook your right the flavors meld together better after they cook a w hile I alays cook the sauce for at least an hour also it really brings out the flavors thanks for your reply

She said 1 can of crushed tomatoes. Cans come in different sizes, so not enough information.
It looks like a 28 ounce can of tomatoes to me.

Adding oregano actually makes it a pizza sauce. Oregano isn't traditionally used for the tomato pasta sauce.
How many ounces should the can of crushed tomatoes be?
All the NYC Italianos I know dont call it marinara they just call it *gravy* like...hey, a little more gravy on my pasta..ok? : ) Also surprised Laura didnt use oregano...Laura es una gran chef Italiana!! Muy simpatica y cocina con mucho gusto!!

Laura, I noticed when you were cutting up the onion, you teared up a bit. You can avoid that ,by putting the onion in the freezer for about 5 minutes before you cut it.

I added butter and garlic to the pasta before adding the sauce. I'm not Italian but it worked out pretty good.
Hi Mrs. Vitale...I am Puerto Rican and my mother cooked with a sofrito....garlic, onions, green peppers, cilantro, etc. I often make my own and keep in the fridge. Can I use that instead to make this sauce or do I need to cut the onion and garlic?

I always use it
Good fresh tomatoes are seasonal. Even in season these days most tomatoes come a long way from Mexico. They are of a variety that was created to have thick skin for shipping and not for taste. They are picked slightly green to withstand the trip without spoiling. Canned tomatoes are grown especially for canning. They can be of a variety developed for taste and not thick skin for shipping. They are picked at the height of their ripeness and canned quickly. Tomatoes don't lose quality by being canned. You can get much better tomatoes canned (assuming you choose a good brand) than from a supermarket. If you can choose a good variety and grow your own and pick them in season, you can have great tomatoes. Other than that, you are probably better off buying good canned tomatoes ...

Canned tomatoes are extremely carcinogenic!!! Tomatoes in a glass jar are way safer for the human body. I love the recipe though!!!
So glad you don't add oregano! I grew up in a very italian household and my mother would have a heart attack if oregano was added to her sauce. It makes the sauce bitter and offsets the natural sweetness of the tomatoes. Fresh basil is the way to go!

What is the italian name for crushed tomatoes? I can't seem to find it on the internet, and in Holland we don't seem to have crushed tomatoes, or they're just called different

This is how I make my sauce. She's right too, it's so easy. Adjust the onion, basil, oil, garlic to your liking. I prefer imported Italian plum tomatoes, I think they make a huge difference. They cost a little more, but they're far superior to the domestic (US) brands.

You know what. I went downstairs gooked me up some pasta :) I kinda improvised the sauce though ahaha as I had no onions or basil :') too late to go to the shop. But it's yummy and I'm now so longer gonna be sitting here wishing I could have some :P
