I've broken 3 first time heifers with no problems, but this old gal came with a host of issues that I wasn't prepared for. She kicked and head butted. I now know why she has been sold several times! For all intents and purposes I was ready to give up on her only 2 days after she calved because she was so difficult. After watching your video and applying your technique, I have a compliant cow that I can milk with relative ease. She even seems to enjoy the process and is beginning to actually wait at the gate for me to be put in her staunchion. I can't thank you enough.

WOW, this worked just like magic. My Jersey just calved again and this time she would let me milk one side but kicked like a train wreak on the other side. Tied a rope around her just like he said and "MAGIC" no more kicking. Got her all milked out.
This trick really works!!! We just got a family milk cow, our first, and she was kicking so much the first day we milked her. I found this video and tried this trick, and she is still kicking but so much more delicately, not the constant sharp jabs she was throwing, and I can milk just fine. Also around the rear area..we would tighten it down purty good..milked in parlor..would forget to take off once or twice...they'd go hopin out like a kangaroo..hafta go chasin after her..

OMG what a cool trick. My cow looks kinda like that black girl. She's a holstein jersey mix. She got mastitis in her front left quarter and I put a rope on her left back leg and hold it while my son tries to get milk out.. She's giving side kicks and back kicks and leg is flying like a fan.. hard to hold the leg back.. But have to get the infection out. We tried putting the calf on.. calf is 6 months old and been drinking from a bucket for a while and sorta lost her touch.. but she got s couple kicks in the head, even though we were trying hard to hold that leg back. We got that quarter milked but it was a pain. Yesterday is when it got hard. Today after taking her off of sugar and giving her DE and Neem leaf powder, it's WAY less, but still had to hold that karate kicker. I might try this trick tomorrow, if she still tries kicking. Wonder if I can do it without a clip
Depends on the animal. sometimes a week. but I hade one cow that I had to do this to for her entire milking life of 14 years. other than that she was a great cow. mind you she was not from my stock so I do not know what kind of life she had before I bought her.
I’ll try this tomorrow. My girl has sent me to the chiropractor, bruised me so bad and today kicked me in the jaw. Cant even get the hobbles to stay on, she’s squirrelly.
I am new to dairy and have 3 jersey. I am dealing with one is aggressive and charging me head butting me. How do I change her. Is it ok to smack her nose when she does?

Get as rough as you have to be. This fellow's method is good. Don't tie to a gate like he did. Tie at the post.

Place a halter on her and leave the lead rope on all the time. It seems to humble.the cow. This has helped for me.
