Love watching you draw with both pencil and colour, very good art work I'm just getting back into my drawing again after a long time out been inspired by a friend at work and watching yourself, and just bought a peace of art from my friend a very good peace it is worth every penny. Please keep up the good work enjoying watching and learning, wish I had never stop.
Beautifully done. I really struggle with noses, mainly the shading but after watching your fantastic video I'm confident I can draw and colour a realistic nose! I've got the gorgeous luminance pencils so I'll be following your tutorial step by step until I've mastered the human nose. You are an amazing artist. I've subscribed to you and given thumbs up. Merry Christmas to you 🎄🎁❤🎁🎄
Emily, you do very good tutorials, and I enjoy watching them. You are thorough in your instruction, something many are not. I do wish the volume on this one had been recorded higher, as I have my volume set on the highest and can barely hear. Speak louder, too, Dear, and the videos will get better and better. Keep up the great work!
hi I am learning color pencil portrait and want to invest in good quality supply but here I see you have used two different product polychromos and luminance ....they are expensive if I want to invest in only one product which one I should go with? any suggestion please that would be great help
She is using artist grade pencils. They have varying degrees of pigment in them, less wax and that is why she can layer beautifully. They run about $1.50 per pencil. Just purchase what you need for your project. Go to an art store and ask them for student grade colored pencils. There are some great knock off you can start with.
interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about learn how to draw realistic portraits try Skyarza Portrait Coach Star (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got amazing results with it.
Maybe this has already been mentioned, but the colors she used are listed in the video, on the left hand side of the screen. But the letters are white so you can barely see them. Really great drawing, though!
I had a doubt....earlier when I had to shade a face first I used to apply all the base colors and then blend with water and then I used to repeat it till I get the result.....is this method correct and also can we use Prussian blue instead of dark indigo
Je suis Français et votre travail est génial je débute et j ai regardé le matériel que vous utilisez ! c est des produits de qualité mais assez cher que conseillez vous comme matériel de base pour commencer ? merci encore pour vos vidéos
Hi, thank you for your great tutorials! I see you use bristol smooth paper, many other colored pencil artists use bristol vellum instead. What do you suggest to use if I want to achieve a smooth finish using Polychromos?
Hi, I you want to achieve a smooth finish you should use Bristol smooth. For this drawing I use polychromos on Bristol smooth paper: th-cam.com/video/wMJUmeTnlNg/w-d-xo.html
How do you know what colors would work with certain skin tones? I'm new to drawing realism with color, I only know how to do charcoal. So I have no knowledge on the color grid.
very cool!! but i have a quastion: i use polychromos and prismacolor. prismac are wachs based too, like your caran'dache. but i don t see wachsbloom in your work. or what i did false. why i have this... thank you!
I have never used prismacolor before but I heard that you get that waxbloom after burnishing. The caran d'ache luminance doesn't have that waxbloom. I have seen others that use prismacolos use a fixative spray in between layers to be able to layer some more.
Woah, youre so good why? Huhuhu, new subscriber here all the way from the philippines. Please answer if faber-castell classics can have the same outcome?
I learn things from your videos and I’m improving. But can’t fully learn it because all my colors are the simplest, cheapest ones, what can I do to make it look at least the same?
Maracara Larasaradara I’ve used both prismacolor and crayola‘s skin color pack and I can now confidently say that you can get a similar look with the cheaper crayola Brand if you pay close attention to layering and blending. Hope this helps. :)
It has always amazed me when I watch these types of tutorials, but the one question burning in my mind is attention to detail. Do you use some sort of template in your mind or do you use a picture or photo to copy from. I would be bowled over if you said everything you draw comes from the mind. I don't(as yet) have that ability and years ago, and I mean years ago when I was just a kid, I did a bit of copy drawing and was in some cases good at it. But to do it from a physical image in my head would be another dimension of which I'm still trying to find that path.
I use reference photo's! I do think that if you will draw from reference photo's for a long time and practice a lot you will at some point be able to draw by heart.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else trying to find out easy ways to draw portraits try Loctavan Amazing Drawing Strategy (just google it ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work buddy got great success with it.
Don't try that on an important piece of work. The spray is never fine enough, so it can leave little "dots" all over your drawing. I only made that mistake once, but others have said the same thing. Thank you though! :)
Amazing work Emmy! Thanks for sharing. You mention that you began drawing in August of 2014. Have you received formal instruction or are you completely self taught? I guess I'm just curious how you've been able to develop so much talent in such a short amount of time. I look forward to your next video.
Thanks alot! Yes, since aug 2014. I am completely self taught. I think I discovered a hidden talent ;) I do have many hours of practice though. The first time using colored pencils back then, I tried to blend with a blending stump, lol. I learned alot from just trying different things.
Yes! I haven't read any art books. I did look up some tutorials, but didn't really find what I was looking for. That's why I decided to make a youtube channel myself, with some tutorials to help others.
That's amazing! Thanks for the reply. Personally I've got a lot of practicing to do before I get anywhere near the talent you have. I look forward to more of your tutorials.
Hi Emily! At 10:55 when you say " and now w the layer of .....titanium?? ..with medium to high pressure " , what are you saying there ? :) I wanna know what pencil or appliance were you using at that moment to blend. Thanks!
Wat bedoel je met 10% en medium pressure? Hoe kom je dan aan die 10% bedoel ik, want medium pressure is toch 50%? En is een buff titanium potlood een soort blender potlood zoals Derwent die heeft?
Your work is outstanding Emmy, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful skill and talent with us. Your art truly is beautiful and you make your tutorials so easy to follow even though the subject is so difficult, you make it look easy. Thank you

It actually having enough inspiration, having enough passion, about loving it and more practice like a lot, can take years lol
I have no words to explain your art work

I like your beginning technique ,you haven't used any graphite at ,so the nose looks natural
Nice artwork😎
Normally, how long does it take you to finish a full portrait?
I think for a realistic face 4or 5 hours and sometimes if it is with a shirt and it is suuuper detailed it take 8 hours
@@lxvelyd3m0n_ it's take me one day to complete a full portrait
@@periottt6896 omg! That's a lot of work !

A cheat for the pigment problem is mineral spirits but it does change the texture.
buy polychromos 12 set or prismacolor 12 set and brustro 72 set
Can't stop watching all your videos

Is there anything I can do if I have burnished my drawing too much?
You should try to avoid that, but maybe you can erase the top layers. Good luck!
I already tried using an electric eraser. I guess I'll have to admit defeat and try to be more careful next time! LOL
