    Call me crazy, but I find there to be something so solemnly beautiful about this sort of ambiance. The dreary fever dream-like haze, and the greatest terrors the imagination can conjure feels like a nostalgic throwback to the child I once was. Where I could fully believe this sort of dimension existed somewhere.

      Back in the childhood even Earth, cities and people seemed like another planet to me. I could not separate reality from imagination, believing I live in some kind of sci fi epoch, that there are robots and laser guns but I havent seen it yet. When I grew up I realised all things are different but back then, the thoughts of secrets of Universe, God and my own origin pursued me.

      This concept of a "before" is making me anxious because you can do that infinitely long... which is a paradox because it means there was never a realy beginning of "something". Even if there is something like God, that concept doesn't change. It's incredible, if you think about it, how incomprehensible reality is to humans.

      Yes he was, in fact, King is one of the official writers of the contemporary Lovecraftian mythos.
      But it actually isn't that big of a deal that King was inspired by him because everyone rips off of Lovecraft these days. You can even find references to his work in Star Wars Legends, Justice League Unlimited, and Iron Man Armored Adventures. It's really popular to do stuff like that.

    The nightmare: you are in a vast wasteland, the size of a continent where it is always foggy. The sun never sets, so there is always a faint light, enough to see silhouettes a mile away in any direction. One day you see this large creature, slowly making its way across the plane. Like a lobster in slow motion. Unlike you, this thing never sleeps and it is always hunting for other creatures. To consume, of course, and in that methodical ruthless way that caterpillars chow down on new leaves. You can run much faster than it but at some point you will grow tired. You will eventually need to sleep. Then what?

    • @prometheus5716
      @prometheus5716 4 ปีที่แล้ว +190

      That's basicly how early humans hunted before we invented bows and arrows. We have a lot more endurance then most prey animals and we can learn how to track really well, so we'd just jog or power walk until the animal collapsed from exhaustion.

      Additional random things:
      1. Cartoon mermaids are seen wearing starfishes for bras.
      2. Starfishes' mouths are located at the center, on their inner side.
      1 + 2 = Starfishes' mouths face the mermaids' nipples, hence the mermaids' nipples are constantly being sucked on.

    I held my gun, the putrid air was so thick I could barely breathe. I heard the loud, quick ticks on the cold ground from a looming shape in the distance, I cocked the gun. It came closer, it’s spindly legs, hundreds of them, running towards me. It’s head was in view, it’s teeth sharp, it’s body had no shape to it; only what I guessed was it’s spine contorted with a horrible sound emanating from its exposed joints. I wanted to run, but where could I go? It had killed almost everyone in the world. The sky grew darker as nighttime approached. The air, still putrid, became colder, harsher and more unforgiving. The fog which was light before became denser. The creature was still approaching me, this time almost upon me.
    Remembering the horror that had happened only a few days before, I ran. I ran and ran as quickly as I could. A large piece of metal was jutting out of the ground, I didn’t see it and tripped. My finger accidentally pressed the trigger of my gun as I fell down with a thud on the cold dirt. I felt an immense pain and grasped my knee. Blood everywhere. The gunshot, echoed through the empty city and as I looked up, I saw the creature hovering above me, it’s mouth even more horrible up close. It’s breath felt like fire on my skin. I closed my eyes knowing that today would be my last moment on this hellhole we once called our home.

    The cold was almost indescribable. He had wanted this for so long, and yet when it came, he felt no satisfaction. They came without sound, as if beyond the constraints of our universe. Their limbs moved without acceleration, without any sense of natural inclination. He had wanted this, he told himself this even as the beasts descended upon him, almost completely devoid of any recognizable signs of life. Louder, he chanted rhythmically the same phrase as before, covering his ears almost by obligation, he heard nothing, not even his own voice. He would have covered his eyes instead if they were still there. The putrid stench of the beasts that stood before him released their snares and instruments upon him, like a child playing with insects. His eyes were taken first but he felt no pain, he felt nothing but overwhelming warmth, a warmth that grew with the overpowering smell of the beast that held him, gone was the cold-gone so suddenly, he was forced to stop screaming when some crude instrument lay flat slabs against each end of the midpoint of his esophagus and cranked outward, like an opposite to a human’s vice. His jaw was broken completely when the sharp blade reached down the unnaturally strained throat and quickly and cleanly folded its appendage midway down his throat so the tip of the small pencil-sized blade faced outwards towards the beast that it had come from. Again, the blade exited the body through the adam’s apple. This cut was less precise due to the unnatural angle and as such the man was killed as a carotid artery was severed and he lay limp in the beast’s clutches. Another useless candidate for their tests, the creature tossed the corpse aside without care or sympathy, such human emotions were lost on these beings.

      Annihilation is a vastly underrated film that deserves more viewership. It's score isn't quiet like this, and is different in a lot of ways, but it sets the tone that matches what the science fiction itself is telling. Also, Life is good, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson. Again, the tone is a bit different but it still has a Space essence of horror. And anything by Max Richter can be chilling.

    Lonilness has always been so appealing to me (which probably goes hand in hand with what seems like my social anxiety). And an apocalyptic scenario has got exactly that to offer. You can only trust yourself and are always best off being by yourself. I am always so intrigued and amazed by these scenarios, even making up some on my own. It sometimes goes as far as wishing for something similar to happen irl just so I can finally be or at least feel free without the pressures of everyday-life, which seem to become harder and harder to bear. Life's tough man and I feel so overwhelmed with everything so quickly... I can't seem to sort my mind nad phrase myself correctly because there's just constantly something else popping up all of a sudden. My overthinking only makes it all worse and I just cannot take it. I need to pause, I need a break and finally focus on one thing at a time. I need to get everything out, but how?
