    In the 70's when I was 10 to 12 years old I used to skip school and run around that factory all day long. It was the Rock Island Lines at that time and was running full bore repairing engines and box cars. I had to watch out for the men with the white hard hats because they would chase me down and have me removed from the property. It was cool running around there and watching them repair everything and talking to most of the workers. It was something that happened in my lifetime that I will never forget. I now have a nephew who is an engineer driving them great trains, something I wish I would have done myself.

    Very nice video. I'm glad to see the historic Silvis shops will live on. I worked on the DRI & NW Ry, Milwaukee Road, Soo Line and, CP Rail in the Quad cities. I also worked at the Silvis shops for NRE running the shop switcher for a couple years. I live in Waterloo, Ia. now and am retired from the Iowa Northern Ry.

      @@rokee1998 Maybe the speaker at the museum just misspoke, but otherwise they should do some more research on the locomotive they just bought indeed, lol

      Hello, thanks for your feedback! Yes, you are correct that it is not the last Challenger. Unfortunately, the speaker who was a part of the organization donating the engine was incorrect in this statement. The Railroading Heritage of Midwest America who acquired these engines is aware though. :)
      This non-profit is very excited to restore these engines to what they once were to run again. If you are curious on their progress you can check them out and subscribe to their newsletter at 261.com!

    That was the most boring video I’ve seen in a while. No real commentary about Silvis itself, the history of the railroad here, or the people that work and live here. Did you read or research anything before this wasted trip?

    • @paranormalgaming7263
      @paranormalgaming7263 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You seem like a lovely person! I think you misread the title. I see "Our Trip To Silvis, Illinois" not "commentary about Silvis, the history of the railroad, plus 20 crazy interesting facts about the population living there." Weird! Really dude. You have no idea who these people are. Sorry that a video about trains being donated to a nonprofit to be restored didn't dazzle you. You're not very good at guitar. Does that mean you wasted your entire life trying to learn it?
