- Here is Debbie's 2nd performance on CLUB MTV. This was recorded in October 1987. Stephen Sprouse was there and some models were wearing his fashions (as was Debbie, of course). This clip also includes Debbie being interviewed by Downtown Julie Brown after her bad lip synching performance (watch Debbie realize she's messed up in one part). The original version of "In Love With Love" can be found on Debbie's 1986 LP ROCKBIRD and this version ("London Edit" aka "SAW remix") can be found on MOST OF ALL : THE BEST OF DEBORAH HARRY.
I always expected to see Blondie reflected in Debbie Harry. Their fame and style. But the Madonna industry blocked many of the good singers by that time. So I had to enjoy Debbie Harry in solitude.
Sometimes people describe performances in the 80's as bad, I call it CAMP! The 80's will ALWAYS be the best decade of music, I don't care what anyone says... why else do so-called artists of today keep making lame remakes of 80's songs, because no decade of music will EVER compare to the iconic 80's!!!!

The slower original version of this song is found on her Rockbird album from 1986, as well as on The Complete Picture - very best of Deborah Harry and Blondie compilation album from 1991. I like this Pete Hammond London Mix edit of the song as well.

I absolutely LOVE the energy of the crowd, I can't stand watching videos of ICONIC songs like this when performed live and the crowd is totally dead and bored, if I was there I would go CRAZY dancing and cheering!
I'm surprised she's "performing" the PWL remix here, this is far from the single version. This was a huge hit at the club I was going to at the time. What a freaking amazing time this was!

Wow. 24 years later and I still remember thinking Blondie is totally on something. She did this one and Frensh Kissing in the USA on the show and both times she was so stoned... LOL
It's not remix but a complete re-recording, said Pete Waterman. Debbie re-recorded her vocals in London.

I used to watch Debbie Harry on Club MTV show when I was a school age. I was living in Cos Cob Connecticut at that time!

@DJMichaelAngelo Unfortunately, a lot of great artists had to lip sync on these kind of shows, especially like on American Bandstand. Some of them, you can tell, really hated it. Like Van Morrison singing, oops, lip syncing, "Brown Eyed Girl." If their record company owned them, or if they wanted the promotion, they pretty much had no choice.
Another reason was time limits or costume/outfit designs
@XZOnatopp The Club MTV Theme? If that's what you're looking for, it's called "At The Club" by the Joe Boys. It was remixed for the show every two years, so it's changed a few times.

I just posted Debbie's first appearance performing French Kissin in 87
October '87. I remember it like yesterday. Flew back incountry just in time for Halloween. Ran a small banner on my BBS (remember b4 internet) for a party. A hundred people showed up, and four mystery Elvira's were trying to out seductrivise each other by the pool house.
That was a great time.
