Thanks for the second video, it’s really interesting I will have a play around with this. I wouldn’t mind getting an SDR setup, but will listen on my scanner de Mike G4VQH
I've been receiving a few of these balloons now on my Baofeng BF-F9V2+ (that's the 8-watt model of the UV5R). I've attached a home made Yagi to it and it works very well. Non of them land anywhere near where I live though :)
In case you haven't already found out, I think the parachute icon turns red after there is no signal being picked up from anyone for a certain period of time. So it's considered "dead" and probably landing soon or already landed.
Thanks Ray for another interesting video, I shall keep an eye out for these wee weather balloons on my SDR.
Happy listening! Let me know whet you hear.
What a credit to Amateur Radio you are.
Thank you, I appreciated that! 👍
Thanks Ray for your information, grtz Daniel
Thanks! 👍

Hi Mike, it's nice to hear from you. Signals should be OK on your scanner.
I will have to monitor these balloons. Thanks for the video. de AF4OD
It's great fun!
Thank you

Excellent! I also have the 8 Watt version, it’s a nice radio. Cheers, Ray.
