"That crap" J-LOD (I know you didn't mean it in a bad way) was a Japanese government program to help artistes through covid (since they could not tour or perform in front of an audience). Basically a grant towards a live online production. It had to be 5 minutes or longer to qualify hence the two songs. Imagine the US or UK government doing that?
May 10th in Japan is literally Maids day - Band-Maid often do something special for their fans on "Day of the Maid".
They don't have a "normal" style lol! - We did warn you!
There is an interesting story behind "Black Hole". According to Akane, Kanami asked her how fast she could drum. Akane said around 190 bpm. Then Kanami went off and wrote "Black Hole" that peaks at 220 bpm! So Akane goes and writes the drum patterns for the track. She wrote 7, for the band to choose which one. She labelled them:
    1. Easy
    2. Comfortable
    3. Normal
    4. Possible if I work hard
    5. Tough
    6. Painfull
    7. Hell
Akane said "Of course, the band chose Hell"!
Best wishes from the UK - see you soon!

TBF, there's not a band I can think of from the US I would have been happy with spending taxpayer dollars on to perform in front of no one. Japan at least has the talent to justify the initiative.

      @@Parker--Agreed
And just follow up on the previous story, without listening to the other tracks, they supposedly only listened to Hell and it was Unanimous. 😊

I am always impressed with "Black hole". It is a 220 bpm song with the most chaotic and chromatic riffs and song structure, but with very catchy and almost pop-music back-up vocals. It's like they put their famous "gap" right in the middle of the song itself.

As Saiki sings in the lyrics of "Manners" "our rock never dies ever, forever". That should be their motto. I, like you, love that drum/bass opening line from the song. Misa says that song is her favorite to perform. Best funk groove EVER!!!!! Black Hole is on the opposite end of Band Maid's spectrum. It is a frenetic post -apocalyptic punk HARD ROCKING sound. At the end of the song you feel like you just sprinted for 10 miles and have to catch your breath and wipe the sweat from your entire body.

Black hole is just something .... it's SOMETHING! It's their fastest song to date, so chaotic since it goes everywhere riff wise, so many different kind of licks and riffs which basically means every time you listen to it, you can find something new you missed the last time ... incredible!

WARNING! (maybe your next song?) It's bad MANNERS to stop listening to Band-Maid because you'll feel starved for musical excellence and joy and fall into a BLACK HOLE of emptiness... probably! 😵 Thx, Joe!

J-LOD (if I recall correctly) was a Japanese government program to help businesses that needed income during the covid shutdowns. Band-Maid could get some compensation if they performed and published something online. There was a minimum (five minutes? It's been a couple of years) so they put out this video and also "Dice/Different". They did live stream several concerts during 2020 and 2021 and they must have made some money from them. I know playing on a sound stage was a strange experience for them and they're happy to be touring again.

The band has said that Manners is their core sound. Others with an OG style are Take Me Higher, Chemical Reaction, and The Dragon Cries. And no they are NOT talking about drugs, I think!

For more bass eargasms, try listening to their song Don't Apply The Brakes 😊
Also watch the bass cover of Manners here on YT, it's simply mindblowing 😮

Great reaction and that was an on-line concert (no audience). Manners and Black Hole are like bookends to their music, funky/groovy and fast/chaotic. Stephen Hawkins helped write black hole.

The company wanted two songs, so Band-Maid paired these two. Blues rock, to speed rock, great book ends and showing range, really cool! Black hole is their fastest song at 220bpm, btw. The performance was during the lockdowns.

"I could listen to 7 minutes of just this" Me thinks he may not handle this upcoming shock very well, lol
"I could listen to a whole album of this" you say? Well fortunately for you there are roughly 2 of them. They're called Conquer and World Domination!
"It gets bigger" I get it, we all need to feed our inner 8th grader from time to time. 😂

    “It’s gets bigger, don’t ignore it…”
You know, there is a whole song with lyrics exactly about the joke you’re making here: Don’t let me down
I don’t think it has subs, it’s technically all in English, but I have a hard time with a lot of them without reading them. You should check it out and read the lyrics first… or second. Definitely read the lyrics though.
It’s a fun song, and cracks me up listening to them sing about sex.
