Nice follow up. In a way, if it runs best w/the factory mags it makes it even more of a bargain for budget minded shooters.
This is my EDC gun. It’s accurate, reliable and easily concealed. It’s everything I need.

I’m wanting to get one of these for my EDC. I normally carry a snub nose in a pocket holster. Will this fit in a normal size pant pocket or should I op for a Compact one
I just put one on layaway after having to give up a Kimber, colt and sig 1911 colt was compact others were full sized, I plan on putting in some nighthawk and Wilson combat parts I got for a commander and totally plan on carrying it
I prefer 10 round Chip.McCormick mags . They werevso good that Wilson Combat bought that company

Do you recommend anything besides your BB gun collection? All your headers that I have seen end in "Not Recommended"
I have the RIA 1911 CS, it runs great with both the factory mag and the Wilson Combat mags I bought for it. The only hiccups I had were in the first few mags I put through it while breaking it in. After the first 50 rounds I did a thorough cleaning and it never missed a beat after that.
I had that issue with my RIA CS and the double stack 2011 in .45. The feed ramps were almost non-existent. After polishing that I didn't have any further issues.
what RIA CS model? full size, compact, commander?
Thank you for the video. I purchased the RIA GI model 1911 and have not had any issues with it so far. I have put over 500 rounds through it using a variety of brands of ammo. Mostly ball ammo but it cycles some hollow points too without a problem. I use the mag that came with it and two of my Kimber mags and it functioned fine so far. This was like my side arm during my days as an MP in the US Army (1969-1973). I still have my pistol belt, holster and ammo pouch from back then and it fits perfectly!

Mine works fine with chip mccormick mags and wilson combat and i have 2 rock island 1911 they work great!
I have a Rock Island Ultra FS HC (10mm) but the mags are double stack, and my only gripe with it so far is it only comes with 1 mag. Glad to see yours is running with the factory mags at least, but that kinda stinks about the aftermarket mags!
I've been trying to get my hands on the Ultra Tac 45FS and no one ever has them. Keith hasn't been able to get one either.
SHOOTRIDELIVE Did you ask Keith's if they can order one for you? They almost always can, that has been my experience any way. Give it a shot.

Tyrone McBride No I sold it along with one of my Smith&Wesson 1911s and my Sig 1911s all to buy Dan Wesson and Les Baer 1911s. I am now moving into Wilson Combats, but looking back.... The Smith&Wesson 1911s and The Sig 1911s were by far the best for under $1,000. Most Excellent overall.

Put 100 rounds of .45 230 grain through mine with 0 malfunctions. Only use Wilson Combat magazines.
For a 1911, Wilson Combat mags are the only way to go, IMHO.
I have the CS Tactical (not Ultra) and it shoots like a dream. It came with the 7rd ACT and will buy the same. Excellent piece. Good vid👍
usually it's the mags (the stock mag- ACT) that causes a mal...., i dunno but it the same case with mine MS... i replaced those with CMC mags since and it's has been running smoothly to these days...
Just purchased this exact 1911. Did not have any FTF FTE or jams. I only shot 100 rounds of fmj but it was my first session. Trying to put upwards to 500. I had great luck with the stock mag but I ordered magazine from Wilson combat and sig sauer

Thank you for the follow up. I never thought it was the gun. I have a Charles Daly/Armscor version of the same gun and use Wilson Comnbat mags and never had trouble. I have not tried any of the Armscor ammunition you guys used in the first video either.

It was a Commander Size, this video goes back a few years. It was later sold when we picked up 4 Springfield Armory 1911 GI Models and we own all the Springfield Armory 1911 to this day in 2024. Beretta Sr. 😎🇺🇸👍
Hey Beretta Big & Little... I have the CS version of this Rock Island and it is a real Tack-Driver! I use OEM Mags as well with NO Failures. I am on the lookout for a MS Tac Ultra in 9MM too. Thanks for this update and "Happy Fathers Day Beretta Sr." ';-)
I use only Act-Mags. 6 Rocks, 2 of each size. A LBCC,LBSRP, EBSF, EBKC,AK TRP and stainless TRP round out my collection. Act-Mags just work and they are inexpensive!
You might be the only other person Ive found with the LBSRP. How do you find it to compare against your others?
Sweater Dood , it feels denser/heavier for some reason but weighs in at 39ozs like the rest of my guns (TRP is the exception at 42ozs). It shoots accurately and reliably like any other Baer.

My RIA had crap luck woth act mags and chip shooting star. May have been the gun itself. It worked 100% with Cobra mags 10 and 8 rounders. I bpught another RIA amd it works with all of them
unlitdarkness6 Question on the mag problems you mentioned about your first RIA pistol. Could this have been a breaking-in issue and more range time was needed to correct mag functioning issues or do you believe something else was the culprit?

I'd say a lot of modern 1911's barrels are throated for modern ammunition (hollow points). Don't take my word on it though. Some do it the traditional way where the barrel is not throated and that's why some have a hard time with hollow points. My non professional guess would be that it isn't throated for hollow point ammo. I'm not a gunsmith or armorer so don't listen to me. Just throwing my two cents out there. 🇺🇲
I have the same 1911 except the sites and grip safety are different but I run Springfield GI and Ruger mags without any issues
Like these guns but couldn't get one. They're on backorder and no local gun shops stock the things. Ended up going with the Ruger SR 1911.

unlitdarkness6 TH-cam gave us 2 Strikes in 24 Hours, so we shut the Channel down for 3 days, This was done in hopes that TH-cam would clear them. Today is day 5 and they still have not cleared them. We reactivated the Channel, and if they give us another Strike for no real reason, I guess that's it for us. We can't keep our Channel shut down waiting 7 or 10 days for TH-cam to get off their tails to clear these Strikes for whatever reason. We will continue to run a Respectful and Family Friendly Channel and hope for the best.

I kinda found it to be the opposite with the mags. I have three magazines from RRA for my .45, and two were a little iffy. I found the same to be true with my Ultra II FS 10mm. Once I went to Wilson Combat and Mec Gar issues like the magazine dropping while firing (10mm), and failures to feed and lock back (.45 ACP) completely went away. My RRA 1911's have been perfect in every way since. These $640 pistols are tight, accurate, and have triggers as good as my $1000+ 1911's. Rock Island makes a very nice 1911's. Great job on this video. Keep doing what you're doing.

The colt mags work the best . I love my 1911. You need a bout 500 rounds in a new 1911 to brake it in .
I been running Wilson Combat mags with no issues.

America 1911 45 acp We are just working with 2 Strikes from TH-cam. If we get a third Strike they shut the Channel Down Permanently. No real reason for it. I stay away from all the Political Stuff and I don't go on these crazy Rants, but they seem to be going after the totally respectful Channels too now. We filed appeals 6 days ago, and nothing back from TH-cam so far.

Have you used the Wilson's mag for your testing ?
With all the issues i see this company having im not so sure i would spend anything on them. The bbr3 (the one i would actually like) is having nothing but endless issues.
