  • Well, the @RoughCountryTV Hidden winch mount is finally available for the Ford Bronco Modular Bumper! Really happy because I I got tired of getting STUCK! Well, not getting stuck anymore. Not for long anyways.... No more digging for me when I'm getting stuck haha.
    Actually, I'm probably going to get more STUCK now! But it's all fun.

    After watching this I’m gonna go with the hidden mount. I like the look of the high mount but don’t want to move the front camera or sensors. Great video showing the average person with hand tools can accomplish this install without too much fuss. Thanks!

    I love the fellow Canadian "get er done even in winter" attitude. My experience was pretty similar. I thanked my son for assisting me with removing the bumper and showed him the challenges you had doing it solo. I also unbolted the hose lines clamps and tucked the hoses back during installation after a near miss like you had. I was nervous using a grinder because of sparks going into engine bay and just used sawzall but you seem to have made it work. Happy my bolt tip helped and good to hear the new kit will include the 8mmx30mm bolt.

      Is it still winter? Didn't notice....
      Yes, thank you very much for the heads up. Time is something I don't have much of, so it was nice to have those 2 bolts handy once I needed them. So Basically you got the same thing as me except the two Intercooler plates.
      Yea, that was a pretty close call!

    Oh great! I have a 2.3L Badlands and been waiting for RC to release a version of the hidden winch that works with the modular bumper. Two quick questions for you.
    Do have a date of when the V2 winch will be released?
    Can you show the location and how hard it is to get to the free spool knob?
    Thanks!!! Great job and great video!

    • @NorthShoreOverland
      @NorthShoreOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you!
      #1- No set date, it will be released on the next production run once current stock is sold. From what I know, that shouldn't be too long. V2 skid plate is already in the kits but the bolts and two intercooler plates are not there.
      #2- I was so busy I never even tried. So I checked this morning. You can't get to it from underneath, it's well protected. But, if you turn off your Bronco first (moving belts and fans are dangerous) You can put one foot on the bumper, hop up and reach down through the hood and get to the free spool knob. Not ideal, but it's a trade off with having it hidden. I'm going to pick up one of those reacher/grabber claw thingy's and it should work like a charm. I might even zap strap an extension to it...... more to come.

    Great video, a few things I noticed:
    1) This would be a lot easier if you had an extra pair of hands helping
    2) Impact wrench!
    3) The mounting points seem inadequate for the stresses this thing could potentially see... Just one bolt on each side that's keeping it from either dropping or being ripped out? Those washers also appear pretty anemic for the gaps they need to cover

    • @AdamHillikerLikesRobots

    You definately need your kid to get older fast so you have a built in helper. You should show free wheeling the winch in the future so that people can see how you deal with it's location and the freewheeling knob. Depending on your height I'm thinking a tool might need to get fabricobled together to make it easy. Maybe something to mount under the hood. That's the winch setup I plan to get, though I'm getting the base and will likely get an aftermarket bumper, so I'll have to do some fabrication for the bash plate I would use with the winch.

      @@recon2504pir You'd have to ask your dealer.... But usually warranty will only be Void if it's the part or action that caused the failure. Let's say your frame rusted out where you cut, it would be VOID.

    Why are the only ones available for the 2.3? Is there some larger issue with the 2.7, or just the order it went in?

    Hey maybe you answered this already...but I have a Base Sasquatch with 2.3L on order. I want to add this hidden winch. Which bumper should I order to make this an easy install, the standard bumper or the Modular bumper? Seems like the skid plate would get replaced with the RC hidden winch right?

      It would only affect warranty if something broke because of it. Like if it rusted out from where you cut, or you cut way to deep and the frame broke. Or if your dealer is a d1ck and tries to screw you.

    • @NorthShoreOverland
      @NorthShoreOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was so busy I never even tried.

    • @nwmissouribroncos8035

      I was thinking it would be a booger. I wondered if you could make a “T” handle with some kind of attachment that would allow a person to reach the clutch without too much trouble. It’s probably the only thing I dislike about that setup.
