  • Bonded title definition and how to get a title for your motorcycle in 6 steps.
    I purchased a motorcycle at auction and didn't receive a title. The bonded title process was not difficult, just a little confusing and time-consuming. I was able to get a clean title without any issues.
    This video is specifically covering how to get a bonded title in Colorado.
    VIN inspection link - www.colorado.g...
    The surety bond was the largest expense in the bonded title process. My total cost to get my title was around $200. This will vary depending on the value of the vehicle.
    You always want to be very careful if you are thinking about buying a motorcycle with no title. Even though I didn't have any problems, there is some risk involved.
    Thanks for watching the S09 Engineering channel.

    Hey Ryan, your video was outstanding and very informative. Gonna use your info as much as I can.. I'm in Florida. Just bought a 2004 Yamaha V-Star for $350. It had been sitting in this guys garage for over 2 years. wasn't running. He told me it wasn't his, he assured me it wasn't stolen, and was willing to fill out a state of Fl. "Bill of Sale". I did a vin search, and in fact it wasn't stolen. Now, with your info, gonna fill out the florida form to obtain the owners information if possible.

    I have a 2002 SV650S I've been wanting to title. I'd considered the Vermont approach as I didn't realize a bond was affordable. I thought the state wanted to keep twice the value of the vehicle for a few years!

    • @S09Engineering
      @S09Engineering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bonded title seems like the more legitimate way to do it. A 2002 is plenty old enough to go the Vermont route as well.

I purchased it from a private seller that didn't get a title for it. I guess my next options would be to contact the Chinese manufacturer? and see if it would be possible to get a title from them. or strictly use it for off road use. thanks again.

      In Texas I got screwed because there were several names on the “open” title I got with auction vehicle. They absolutely would not give me a title without the people on title responding. Some were used car dealerships that were not longer in business. Maybe things have changed since then but you better check in your state or you can end up in a pickle.

    This stinks .. i bought a bike in NH .. dident get the title due to the NH DMV web site being confusing about what is needed.. I did get the previous reg .. bill of sale .. due to covid-19 all the DMV's are closed .. so, i had to call the concord head dmv .. they told me i need to apply for a bonded title .. Well, i have a bike i cant ride for the next 2 or 3 months .. it really stinks !

      I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't bad. Maybe 6 hours of actual time running around for the VIN inspection and trips to the DMV. If you save $1000, that's about $165/hour!
